The Atlantic Fish Bar is probably the best fish and chip shop in Tamworth, or around for some…read moremiles. Their batter is light and crispy, and much better than other chippies I've tasted. They are only open until 2pm for lunch, and then again at 6pm for dinner, so make sure you don't leave your lunch chip run too late. The staff are really funny here -- really friendly, joking about with each other, and making the customers feel really welcome. They aren't the most efficient fish and chippers around. There is an understanding amongst Atlantis' customers that it may take longer to get served here than other shops, due to the silly banter and general camraderie. The queue is always quite long, especially on a Friday night, like most similar shops. From the size of the queue, it's easy to guess how popular this place is. The haddock and cod are really lovely, the chips are nice and fresh, and the chicken kebabs are to die for, if dying for a kebab is your sort of thing. I personally don't care for the Friday night fish n chip run, but being married to an Englishman, I make my sacrifices, with the caveat that if we get fish and chips, it's from Atlantic.

The chips are fresh, and covered in chilli, which is great for those of us with a taste for all things spicy :D And the doner... Oh the doner.... It is truly heavenly. The mixed doner that is. Tried it twice, both times the overpriced greasy tasteless mess ended up in the bin. The the move to Solihull, just up the road from Dovehouse, gave us great fish and chips again. Always amazing, HUGE portions and very reasonably priced. During the pandemic they set up an online ordering system that was flawless. My only wish is they would start accepting card/contactless payments like the rest of the world.

I had a truly awful day and journey home, and went to put my dinner in the oven and the entire thing blew - leaving me with no access to food or car (last straw of the day). I called Chris', explained the situation and asked if they would deliver, which they advertise on their website. The girl initially said yes but then had to ask the delivery driver who said loud enough for me to hear "haha nah that ain't worth the petrol", even though I was happy to pay extra. Thought they were a nice bunch but feel really disappointed - I know they have to cover costs but we've spent a fortune with them and I really could've done with a hand...just can't find friendly businesses anymore.

They do great deals also, they do a selection called the meal deals which have some great meals at great bargain prices for eg. jumbo sausage chips and choice of gravy, curry sauce or peas for the grand total of 2.20. They also do a big lunchbox for 3.00 (i think) that consists of mini fish, chips and a sauase with choice of sauces/pea etc. They also do breakfasts and toasted sandwiches which have only recently been introcuced but seem to have gone down really well. They have also this week introduced rotesserie chicken, which i have not tried as yet - but have heard are great. There home made fishcakes also are amazing, they are so nice and worth that extra 20p. The queues can be out of the door on certain nights, but the staff are very efficent and they get to you quite quickly. The staff are great and the majority have worked there for years and year.the owner is a star, he is so proud of his store and his food and it shows, i think that is a great attitude to have and i think his customers come back to him again and again due to this and also the superb quality of the food. Everyone in rugby has been here i think, or atleast heard of this chip shop.try it out you will not be disapointed.i spoke to someone in their last week whom actually travels 25 miles to get his chips from this chip shop.also david barmby from bargain hunt goes in there for his fish and chipshehe!!!!
