I asked if there is anything I can buy ahead of time and she told me items that might be good to get. I bought many of them and had them ready for our appointment. In a nutshell ... Dawn is incredibly efficient, effective, thorough, logical and insightful. The details ... My bedroom used to be laundry central. I used to walk in and feel exhausted by the sight of clothes piled on the floor, on top of my dresser, overflowing from my laundry bin and pouring out of my closet. I always had "too much laundry!" Before Dawn arrived, I went through my wardrobe and I was able to discard 4 items. I was sure it would be the same when she arrived. However, Her tips and questions really helped me think about organization and things differently. It was with Dawn's help that I was able to donate an entire trash bag of items just from my own closet. But, she didn't stop there. She helped me clear things from under my bed, my drawers, my dirty laundry bins and even found my "hiding spots" where clothes were neatly folded and collecting dust. When she was done with my room, the entire hallway was filled with bags ready for donation. The entire time, she did it with incredible efficiency and ease. I'm writing an update to my experience with Dawn in Fall 2019. I had to write her at the beginning of this year to tell her how much she had improved my life! Even though I have to still do work to keep things organized and lose my way sometimes, the systems she started and mindset shift she gave me has allowed me to continue on with decluttering and staying organized, which has simplified everything and made everything so much more efficient. I definitely have a "home" for everything now and know exactly where things go and where to find things. I think the most valuable lesson she taught me is to enjoy and use the things we have. For example, I used to have my "special" items tucked away safely in boxes because I didn't want anything to happen to them. However, Dawn opened my eyes to how you never get to enjoy the item or the memories if they are tucked away. My beloved grandfather passed away last year and I received his coffee mug at Christmas. In the past, I would have put it safely away. However, now I chose to use the mug everyday and it brings me happiness and makes me feel closer to my grandpa. I have also started to slowly help my mom go through her stuff and declutter and organize to make things more functional. I giggled each time I said something that reminded me of Dawn helping me... do you really need this broken item? Where is the rest of this? My wife and i when we looked at what we had in terms of unpacking, one of the biggest unpacking was , yes you guessed it , it was the kitchen with so many pots and pans and spices etc. and we simply were exhausted with our move and did not really feel like unpacking but hey we have to do it because a functioning kitchen is essential because otherwise you would mostly be eating outside and that is not healthy both for you and your wallet :) (Just saying :)). We did not want to do it as we were both busy with our jobs and the move itself that we were as i stated earlier really exhausted. I highly recommend Dawn if you are looking for incredibly effective organizing sessions. We just finished excavating my 3b/2ba home plus garage in 3 full day sessions and it feels like a whole new organized and manageable space. It's very liberating to let go of things you no longer need, and it's uplifting to feel you can keep up better on taking care if your home and possessions going forward. Simply life-changing... After six months we had lost the will to unpack any more boxes of stuff we had been moving from house to house for as many as 15 years. We interviewed several home organizers before deciding on Dawn to help us unpack, declutter and organize almost immediately after a move. When we met her we were impressed with how down-to-earth she was. We wondered though how one person could get the job down by herself alone and in the short time she estimated. We were going to start with the kitchen and family rooms, but decided the garage was so full of packing boxes we needed to eliminate about half and have the space truly organized. We imagined her (or anyone) in trying to complete this task being wiped out from exhaustion! But she was, as we'd hoped, highly energetic, worked quickly and accomplished the garage mission in 6 hours leaving about 2 hours to begin another area. During her time with us, in addition to helping us assess whether to keep, donate or dispose of items (the scariest part for us), she was understanding and helped us get in the mode to continue making those decisions. She is commendably strong and has a great sense of humor which helped keep us on task. She also is savvy about items and how we might improve the interiors of our various rooms. We think she is cost effective in how much and how quickly she accomplished the work. Others we interviewed wanted multiple people at significantly more cost.
