Finely Kneaded is my go-to massage place to help with my fitness recovery. It's a really well maintained and professional parlor! The front desk is super responsive when you have questions and it's really convenient to be able to schedule massages on Instagram (where they post their schedules which is also very helpful). They sometimes have deals where you can buy packages of massages at a decent discount so it's worth getting on their email list to be able to take advantage of those. I used to really like Finely Kneaded. I hadn't been in a while (since the last massage I had the therapist cut my massage short by about 7 minutes, I was on time) I thought I'd give them a try again. I arrived 4-5 minutes early for my appt and the therapist took me to the room at the exact time my appt was set to start and then did not return to begin the massage until 6-7 minutes later. The therapist starts the massage over the cover, but when she pulls the cover back she realizes she forgot her lotion. She went to retrieve it and quickly returned, but I unfortunately did not like her technique. She used her arm and elbow as her main technique of giving the massage and I prefer hands with the arm/elbow more so as a supplement, not the other way around. In addition to not enjoying the massage, people were speaking loudly right outside the door and heating up smelly food. I was in the first room right across from the break room. I ended the service early because it was not enjoyable or relaxing. When I went to pay I was charged for 30 minutes, which was right where I ended the service, but I was not offered a discount even after sharing that I didn't like the service and explained the reasons why. read more

My advice to your staff, "You never know what someone is going through. Be kind. Always." A "Hi, welcome, we're glad you made it, are you okay?" would have been an appropriate greeting when I arrived today, followed by a gentle reminder of your late arrival policy (if there is one, because when I booked my appointment I wasn't informed of one). Instead, I was received by the massage therapist saying to me at the front desk, infront of the receptionist and other clients, "Girl, you lucked out, I was about to step out the door!" That was very unprofessional. Yes, I was late, by slightly less than 10 minutes, due to unforseen road construction I came across on Clark Ave, but that doesn't warrant for clients to be received with an unprofessional and unwelcoming comment. When I booked my appointment, I hesitated a whole lot, because I'm grieving the loss of my parent and it's very hard to take care of ourselves when we're grieving, but I decided to be kind to myself today. Yet, I was received with an unprofessional attitude, which tarnished the entire visit. Again, "You never know what someone is going through. Be kind. Always." The reason I'm giving 2 stars, instead of 1, is because I've been there before for facials; Maria and Isabelle are very professional and amazing at doing facials; 5 stars to Maria and Isabelle specifically. Quick, hook me up with a masseuse same day, for hubby's birthday which I totally ran out of ideas for until the day of (epic failure on my part). Let's not even mention that it was the day BEFORE Valentine's Day. Yes, I felt like a total "L" as a wife, but all was not lost... I called the day of as soon as they opened and they were so nice but let me know they didn't have any openings but would call me if they got a cancellation. Well the planets aligned and they called me within 10 mins. I was able to pay and tip in advance so he could just walk out and not worry about payment. Hubby got a deep tissue/sports massage for 1 hour. He came back home relaxed and rejuvenated. I debated writing this review but I just spent an hour of my time having the worst massage ever. I've had a lot massages over the years and I can't remember one that was less enjoyable. I won't use the masseuses name because maybe it was a bad day but she pretty much spent 80 percent of the time digging in to my back with her elbows. I asked for upper body only and spent 45 minutes on my stomach. I asked to focus on neck and shoulders which really needs to be done on my back. I was tempted to end the massage early but didn't want to be rude. She didn't seem to know what she was doing. I would just ask if the masseuse uses her hands for arms for the massage. If I knew she would be looking for pressure points with her elbows I would have never gone. Total waste of my time and money. I hope management reaches out so I can give details. I have been coming to Finely Kneaded for years and I've been seeing Isabelle for a while now for facials. She is so personable and just great to be around. I love how she asks my skin routine, concerns, and what I want to get out of our appointment. She gives me recommendations at the end. My skin always looks so clean, refreshed, and plump. I leave feeling so relaxed especially after the shoulder massage on the cozy warm bed. I am also thankful she has appointments available later on in the day which helps me stay on top of coming in. I like the ambiance of the room. The lights are dimmed and the colors are brown and greens. The entire experience is zen. Every year before my birthday, they send an email with a birthday discount that I appreciate and look forward to. The parking lot can be busy but I never have a hard time finding parking. The waiting area is small so I usually arrive just 5 minutes early which gives me enough time to use the restroom. The staff is very nice and you even get good vibes when you speak to them on the phone :) I've had different masseuses over the years and everyone has always been great. More recently I started solely having massages with Nataly and she's the best! I like that she has firm pressure and incorporates stretching as needed. She hits all the spots that make you think, "I didn't know I could even be tight here!" She always gives helpful recommendations as well. Extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service from the Owner. I spoke with the owner yesterday after going into the studio requesting a refund for a gift certificate my husband purchased for my birthday 2 days prior. My husband did not know (or remember most likely) that I was no longer going to this establishment because of cleanliness standards. I did not write a review after my last visit to this establishment as I chose to just no longer be a customer moving forward. When speaking to the owner I expressed that I understood the policy that gift certificates are non refundable, however I also expressed the situation that I would not be coming to her business because I do not feel safe doing so. I let her know that my husband was trying to do a sweet gesture for me for my birthday. Her suggestion was to use the gift certificate on another service, such as the chiropractor or to gift the gift certificate to friend. I'm going to make a friend of mine go to a dirty establishment and again go myself! These suggestions are unacceptable. She did not once ask me what were the issues that I experienced and did not once offer to make my negative experiences better. Whew! Lord knows I needed the massage. Annual massages is just not going to cut it lol. I know, I know, terrible that I only get massages once a year. But trust, that is gonna change! I've been working/teaching from home since the pandemic, and although I love teaching from home, the set up isn't the greatest when it comes to posture. I'm looking at my laptop for 6-8 hours, sitting for most of those hours, and I'm not sitting in the best posture the whole time. I had enough with the headaches and stiffness...Massage to the rescue! My therapist, Carly got me all the way right. She definitely kneaded all of the knots that I had in my shoulders and back. She explained why I have been experiencing headaches and even suggested that I get an adjustment because I was a little off alignment. Felicia is awesome!!! She did my massage a few weeks ago. She was very attentive and told me every stiff spot I had in my body. She recommended that I come back in a few weeks for a follow up. Came back today for that follow up. My neck was super stiff and my lower back has been in pain for a few days. My experience wasn't that great. When I booked the appointment yesterday, I did not ask for specific technician nor was I given a name. The lady I had was sweet. She said hello, but never did give her name. Not once during my massage did she mention anything about my stuff neck and back. She left out quite a few techniques that I know every other masseuse does: no feet (and no, my feet aren't horrible by far, lol), no fingers and hands, no turning my head side to side and massages down my neck like all others have. I went in for a massage to ease the pain in my lower back. I was taken into the massage room and instead of being asked what I wanted, the masseuse asked me once I was under the sheets. I explained that I was in a lot of pain and my low back was sore from lifting heavy weights the day before. She completely ignored my requests and dug into my back leaving me in a lot of pain. I asked her to lighten up the pressure but that didn't do anything. The pain level went from a 10 to a 9. The rest of the time it felt like she was just rubbing lotion on my back. I'm used to the masseuse finding knots (trigger points) and reducing the pain. This masseuse was either having a bad day or this was her technique. She failed to listen to my requests and did her own thing. This massage was not worth the money I payed for it. I will not be coming back here again. read more

Jack is amazing and very helpful in trying to do everything he can to make sure you're healing . Totally recommend seeing him . I've been hear 3 times for a 1 hour massage and had a great experience each time. I work on a computer 40 hrs a week and get crazy neck and shoulder knots. I like the fact that they are open relatively late so I can get there after work. I normally schedule a 6:00pm massage. Dawn is my therapist now. I had her the first time and it was great. I had another girl the 2nd time, and it was good but not the best experience. The 3rd time I asked for Dawn again and she not only got all the knots out of my neck but also gave me some helpful advice on proper workstation etiquette and sleep/stress behaviors that might decrease tension in my shoulders for the future. Thanks Dawn! I paid full price the first time, but I got a double one hour massage deal the next 2 times for $90 ($45 ea.). I got the deal from an email newsletter special they sent out. If you follow them on Facebook or sign-up for the email newsletter, you can get in on great deals when they have slow days or seasonal specials (i.e. Mother's Day, Valentines Day, birthday, etc.). Yesterday (3/6) I went for a 60-minute basic massage ($65). My masseuse Nataly was great. I was in the first room next to receptionist. That sucked!!! I could hear their entire conversation with a deep voice gentleman (every haha). It's not like they were greeting new customers as I was their last client. It was hard to relax, which is specifically why I came. I would have figured they would be more mindful of their volume (library voices). I visited Finely Kneaded last week for Valentines Day week. I wanted to surprise my boyfriend for a much needed spa and I found a good deal on Groupon which I couldn't pass up since this place had such great reviews here on Yelp. I purchased 2 packages of a 60 minute massage & a 60 minute facial. I went back and forth with the front office before booking since I had a lot of questions on the promotion. My boyfriend has a complicated job so I had preference in time for our session. I believe Suzan was her name at the front desk. She was great and very informative. We were booked for a 4:30 appointment and I asked if we needed to get there 10-15 minutes before and they said no. Which I found weird being that normally they ask to be there early and you fill out paper work on what areas you don't want them touching or to explain any problematic areas. Same applies to facials they ask you what your concerns are and what you would like achieve in your skin. But at this place they didn't have any paper work for us. We arrived and were taken straight to our rooms and were asked to undress (we had separate rooms) I received my massage first and my facial second. Note my boyfriend and I both had the same girls for our facials and our massage. My massage was not the best. I'm very sensitive so I like soft to medium pressure but that is not what I got. My masseuse was Nataly and she was no where near gentle. She asked me twice how the pressure was which the first time was at the beginning and I asked her to use less pressure and she pretty much didn't. I was only relaxed when she massaged my legs, feet and arms. She hurt me of how firm she was and it seemed like she was doing it in a hurry her hands were rubbing me so hard and so fast. My boyfriend said the same thing. Nonetheless it was a pretty firm massage and we both felt so soar that same night. As for our facial done by Jennifer, I was so happy with that experience. I've gotten facials before but this was so relaxing and Jeniffer was so nice and explained each one of the products she used. For someone who loves skincare and loves to take care of my skin I loved that information given to me by her. My boyfriend also loved his facial and loved how he had a lot of blackheads & she took care of. Left his skin and my skin nice and luminous. I would come back here but I will do more reading yelp on which masseuse is not too firm. I know everyone is different but it's not my first massage and the others I've gotten in the past have been more pleasant. Another thing I didn't like was that I had to undress for my massage and then get up and put my clothes back on and then be taken to another room and undress again for my facial. Which they could just have one room and just have the other person come in but of course these rooms are all specific to facials and a massage. I got the " for my needs massage" because of the back and shoulder pain I've been having for the last couple of weeks. I told the therapist where to focus on before the massage but she spent hardly any time on my lower back. The massage room was freezing and the heated bed was not working. She attempted to adjust the temperature in the room but the air kept turning on. It was so hard to relax when I was freezing cold! I did not enjoy my massage. This spa is not relaxing at all, when you come out to the receptionist it's so busy that the relaxing feeling goes away. Came in for a prenatal massage today and was not impressed. My masseuse never introduced herself, so I don't know her name. After undressing and making myself comfortable with the pillows, she came in and started playing "relaxing music" from her phone, which abruptly stopped twice during the massage and ads played. She had to stop the massage twice to skip the very startling/loud/abrupt ads. I've been to this place before for regular massages and usually the room has been set up beforehand and the ambiance prepared for relaxation. The massage oil was not warm and her hands were pretty cold to start out with. She asked me the areas I wanted to focus on, which I explained were my upper and lower back. She never asked how much pressure I wanted. About 10-15 mins into the massage, it was clear that she was not going to check in with me on the pressure (I like firm pressure). Her "massage" literally just felt like I was having cold oil spread over my skin. I asked her if she could massage any firmer- which she said "sure", but it only mildly increased and only for about 30 seconds and then she went back to spreading oil on my skin. When she was working on my lower back, she never touched the center of my lower back at all (which is what was really bothering me), she only lightly massaged my hips/"love handles". For a prenatal massage, I figured there would be some knowledge of common pregnancy aches/pains and the areas that might specifically need attention and how to help relieve tension (direct counter pressure, etc.). When the massage was over, she said, "okay, we're all done" and left the room. She didn't ask how I felt or if I even enjoyed the massage. No one was even there after I exited the room to offer water or anything. I explained to the lady at check out that I was not particularly impressed with my massage and she just said "oh" and said she would "put it in my file not to schedule me with that particular masseuse anymore." Overall, I was not impressed and would not recommend their prenatal massages. The masseuse definitely needs to work on her customer service/room prep skills. Only giving it two stars because I've enjoyed there regular massages before. read more

Small, quiet very nice home touch to it. We got the "Spa-Cation" package perfect for what we wanted, two services 60 minutes. We both decided to do facial & massage. I started with my facial, and I have to say it was the best facial I have ever had. I've had a few done because I also used to work at a Day Spa and definitely did my share of facials- anyway Isabel was great! Soft with her hands, she was fun to talk to but also she let me have my quiet time too. My skin felt so heavy coming in and after that facial- I felt so good, light, glowy. I needed that facial! At the end, I appreciate how Isabel gave me rules for the rest of the day on how to take care of my skin and even welcomed me at the end of the hall with a water bottle! This part was a little weird, I had to dress up again and go back out into the lobby which kinda messed up my whole relaxing ordeal but didn't bother me much cuz I was looking forward to my massage which was next! I was so excited for another 60 minutes of relaxing. Unfortunately, I couldn't relax. I've had my share of massages, and this wasn't the best one. She did ask me if the pressure was a bit much and I said yes but she still kept going at the same pressure, if not harder and I kept telling myself "she knows what she is doing, maybe you need this" because I know I have a lot of knots in my shoulders and back area. It was definitely difficult to relax. There was even a point where I flinched at a certain part but she still kept going. At the end of the massage all she said was "take a few mins before you get up and get up slowly" and I never saw her again. I would come back here but probably just for the facial. read more
