I cannot say strongly enough that I would NOT use this letting agent. My husband and I returned from overseas to numerous problems with our property which FineHolm had been managing for a year.
The renter had failed to pay his utility bills, and in spite of the fact that the lease agreement stated that the agent would insure all bills were paid before the tenants departure, FineHolm did nothing to prevent the utility company from switching our utility meters to pre-paid meters. When we tried to discuss the issue with FineHolm, they said it wasn't their responsibility or problem. Our question was if FineHolm did not give the utilities company access to our property to change the meters, after the renter had moved out by the way, then who did? It took us days to get our gas restored after our return--not fun having no heating, hot water or cooking facility when you return--and it has taken weeks to get this whole mess sorted. We will have to pay to have the meters changed out of own pocket.
The renters also took numerous liberties with our house, made unauthorized changes and left damages. FineHolm did not report these damages to us in their final correspondence. Trusting their report, we authorized the return of the security deposit to the tenant. This was a mistake on our part, but when we confronted FineHolm about the inaccuracies in their final inspection of our home, they said that it was not their problem. They have refused to refund our security deposit, and now we're having to make countless repairs out of our own pocket.
My advice is to stay clear of this company and find an agent that provides true customer service to landlords. read more
