My advice is to avoid the Letting Service like the plague. They are the most unprofessional, rude and obnoxious people that I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. (Their is one member of staff who is not quite so rude to talk to, but she still doesn't do what she says she will).
When signing up with them I presumed I would be able to pay by card as it was for such a large amount so hadn't taken cash. I was wrong. The girl serving me slammed her hands on the table, rolled her eyes and practically shouted, 'why are you wasting my time if you dont have the money?'. I told her I did have the money, I would just have to go to the bank to get it out, and she again told me I was wasting her time. I asked her if this was seriously her level of customer service, and she couldn't answer other than to smirk at me. They refused to provide me with a list of items in the flat, stating their was one in there, even though I told them it wasn't.
Our heating broke - we waited 2 weeks, in December for it to be fixed.
Our toilet leaked - it has never been fixed even though we called every week about it.
Our front door didn't shut properly - 2 weeks to fix.
Faulty intercom? They didn't care.
They sent someone round to do an electrical test of the items in the house, and then took away OUR toaster!
Our hoover broke and after many visits to the office and phone calls we finally got a new one. They told us not to throw the old one away as they might repair it. No one came to collect it, so on our next inspection we put it in the hall for the person to take. He very angrily told us we should be 'pro-active' and 'just use common sense' and have thrown it away.
When they did the viewings for the next lot of potential poor souls who would move in, they just let everyone wonder in and out of our rooms, rather than go with them - which, as I have sadly learnt from previous experiences, creates opportunities for theft.
They create their own policies, that are not in the contract, such as - "we will only give you your deposit back when someone new moves into your room, even though it is the end of your tenancy and you haven't damaged the room/flat". When asked what happens if no one takes the flat/room, they said 'i'd probably get my money back eventually'. They do not care that this inst in the contract that I have signed, and think I should just accept that it is 'their policy'. read more
