What truly sets the shop apart is the team: the staff are warm, knowledgeable, and eager to guide you to the perfect pairing, whether you arrive with a detailed brief or just tonight's dinner menu. Laurent, the owner, leads by example. His genuine passion for wine and hospitality creates an inviting atmosphere where you never feel rushed or out of your depth. Talking with him is like getting a mini masterclass, and his recommendations consistently impress. The store doesn't always have every bottle back in stock, but you can always discover an equally exciting alternative for your meal or occasion. My only request is for the city to convert the permanent parking spots directly in front of the shop into a 5-10-minute loading zone reserved for Princeton Corkscrew customers.

A WINE SHOP THAT SELLS NO BAD WINE!…read more One of the mottos we wine drinkers have frequently heard is "Life is too short to drink bad wine!" This is the credo of the Princeton Corkscrew. This well researched and mindfully assembled "wine library" has best representatives of even the tiniest microclimate where wines of note are produced. The associates working beside the owner Laurent Chapuis are well-studied connaisseurs who can talk intelligently about every bottle in the shop. Before a new bottle is placed in the racks it has been tasted and discussed by members of the team. Laurent, himself, visits the winemakers and the terroirs to select only the best examples and best vintages for his shelves. Open tastings invite we consumers to meet the makers and taste their wines including vertical samplings which educate us. I've never visited a better educated shop than the Princeton Corkscrew. And I have never bought a wine that didn't live up to its portrayal. Good advice. Good information. Good pricing. GREAT WINE! Merci Laurent!

Jim had wanted to start making beer again, and we're glad we found this place (former location was…read moreon Witherspoon). Joe, the owner, will talk your ears off and give you step by step directions for how to make beer. He's very friendly and knowledgable, and if you wanted to do it on the cheap, you could, or you could be like us and buy both the brewing kit ($75) and whichever beer ingredients you wanted as a kit (Russian Imperial Stout--$55). Most of the beers, btw, aren't so pricey, but we're fans of dark, rich, knock you on your butt beers. As a bonus, we found out that if we let the second fermentation go for 2 months, it will be smoother. And in 2 months I'll be able to drink again--YEAH! Perfect timing! All of the raw ingredients and supplies are sold here too, from buckets and bottles to bins of hops for your own special blend. And if you have any questions during the process, Joe will give you his email in order to answer your questions. It's nice to have an expert on hand who will let you know where the process is flexible and where it isn't, and how to use the measuring instruments so that you aren't completely overwhelmed once you unpack everything at home. As an added bonus, you get to see a side of Trenton most of us miss with giant mansions and gorgeous gardens which make you feel as though you've entered an alternate universe. I think this is a first for me, a second update for a total of 3 reviews of the same business. And…read more2021 seems to be a year for updates as well. I can thank a global pandemic for renewing and invigorating my interest in fine spirits, and this shop in particular for having a depth of variety not found elsewhere in Hamilton or neighboring towns. Lately my drink of choice has been wine and cocktails, but previously and during the height of Covid, I became immersed in sours and ciders. This place has both in abundance, in fact I don't think it's possible to try all of them, as they keep getting new ones in. My trip today to find a new sour proved fruitful( pun intended) but also time consuming. I have learned from experience that it's helpful to bring my reading glasses with me, there's just so much new stock to view and labels seem smaller every year. Along with old favs I saw a number of new sours and settled on the lesser of 2 pricey options. I may have gone with the pricier one had there been someone with experience of the brewery and firsthand knowledge of its pedigree. That will probably haunt me until I go back and shell out the $ to try it myself;) I also took some time today to peruse the Scotch selection, which is also a favorite of mine in cooler weather. That is what prompted me to update this. It may not be the biggest of known shops to me, but the prices are amazing. I noticed that some of those items are on sale. There is no clear signage except for a small shelf tag which on some items show previous price. The specific item I was pricing was about $5 less than a place I thought was the lowest, this item was not on sale either. It appeared to be very nice gift boxy bottles from last holiday that were $10 or more off of the original. I'm definitely going back to take advantage of at least one of those. I also spent more time in the wine aisles. Again great prices on some of the more upscale but still widely available Ca wineries. I think the selection is very good but again not quite as good as Canals. However I think they will match or beat most prices. Customer service in general is very good, esp at the checkouts. I think having a wine/ and or beer expert around at all times would be beneficial to this store. I asked again while at the register and was told he would be in later in the day. So it seems that this is a q they get and there is an expert on hand some of the time. It's also cool that they have food trucks around on the weekends. There are in store tastings too which I've not had a chance to try. Definitely my favorite liquor store by far for this extended area. Thanks for carrying so much local and craft brew items!

I'm a huge fan of Belgians and they have a pretty decent selection, although I wouldn't complain if it was a tiny bit more extensive :) Plenty of variety packs and a huge fridge full of stuff ranging from cheap college swill (which I like, depending on my mood!) to crazy craft beers that I'll probably never buy because they're a little too expensive. Staff are helpful and the lines move reasonably quickly. I've never tried the food trucks but it's definitely a cool option to have on site. I don't usually drink wine or liquors but the many, many shelves of both tell me that you're probably in luck if you're looking for something :) Overall, this place is one of my staples and I'll continue to shop here when I'm looking for something new, interesting, and affordable.
