This company is pure evil…read more I prepaid $75,000 toward an approximately $85,000 project, and these photos show the condition of the cabinetry on the day I was told in writing that Finished by Korzo had "delivered everything within our scope of work" and had no need to return to my job site. Yet the cabinetry was plainly not complete. I could not install my double oven into the cabinet as it had been left. I could not install my pull-out microwave. My laundry room wall cabinets were installed without top panels, leaving the interiors open to the drywall/ceiling above. These are not minor cosmetic punch-list items. These are cabinet areas that were still unfinished or unusable when the company declared the job complete and demanded the remaining balance. There are many other things I could write about my experience, but I want this review to focus on one simple fact: they declared the cabinetry complete when major cabinet areas were still unfinished and the appliances could not even be installed into the cabinets provided. I also think prospective customers should understand the relationship with Dominis Stone. Dominic works in sales/coordinating for Dominis Stone while also operating Finished by Korzo from inside the Dominis Stone location, where his cabinet displays and office are located. My own Finished by Korzo quote specifically states that countertops are purchased directly through Dominis Stone while Finished by Korzo coordinates the scheduling. That overlap matters when reading the Yelp reviews too. One of the two positive reviews appears to describe work Dominic handled through Dominis Stone, even though the review is posted under his own company. The actual work is done by Dominis Stone staff which are great. I originally went to Dominis Stone because I had used them in the past and trusted their reputation. I did not initially understand that I was dealing with a separate company. Had I researched Finished by Korzo independently before moving forward, I would have made a very different decision. Look at the photos and decide for yourself whether this looks like completed cabinetry. Additional Billing Discrepancy (one of many) Dominic told me the self-leveling material would be charged at $100 per bag. He later confirmed to me in writing: "13 extra out of 75, we poured 62 bags total." Despite confirming that only 62 bags were poured, Korzo's final invoice charged me for 75 bags at $100 each, totaling $7,500. The invoice itself describes the 75 bags as an "estimated" quantity. Invoice_97_from_Finished_by_Korzo.pdf Based on Dominic's own written statement, 62 bags were actually used, which would equal $6,200 at the stated $100-per-bag rate -- a $1,300 difference before tax. I am attaching both his text message and the invoice so readers can see the documentation directly.

We had an outstanding experience with Carl at Better Call Carl! From start to finish, his…read morecommunication was excellent. He set up an appointment to meet with us right away and sent over a very professional, detailed quote the same day. He got us on his schedule quickly and completed the job to absolute perfection. Five years ago we had carpet installed and were left with an annoying gap between the carpet and the baseboard. It drove me crazy! Carl not only handled the installation beautifully, but he also made sure the new padding was thick enough to eliminate that gap entirely. A problem that bothered me for five years - gone in one day thanks to Carl. Fast, professional, detail-oriented, and genuinely thoughtful. We couldn't recommend him more!

We will not be working with Better Call Carl again. Last November, we hired him to perform a…read more"bathroom refresh". Hooked us in with a great price and great initial communication. On the first day on the renovation, we went through all the details of changes we wanted to make with his team. Somehow, these details never came to fruition. They did a great job with the drywall, painting, and tub installation - however, their tile work in the shower is subpar (the tiles were placed crooked and we had to go in to regrout ourselves). We previously had plumbing work done, so the cabinetry underneath the vanity had to be replaced. Better Call Carl figured the best way to do this was to just patchwork plywood (we went back ourselves to fix). He also didn't see the need for continuous baseboards (see photo). The biggest problem we have is with the floors - we also had terrazzo floor tiles placed and confirmed with the team prior to starting that there were enough tiles to complete the project. The floor is not up to industry standard nor ADA requirements. The grout lines are all different sizes and the actual tiles are not level, resulting in a trip hazard. There are also tiles that have been chipped both during and after installation. We reached out to Better Call Carl after work was complete to see if he could replace the floor - he was reluctant to come back, but he did end up replacing two tiles (out of 21). Even after the second round, the floor is a little more level, but nowhere near the standard or expectation. There are still chipped tiles, uneven grout lines, and tiles that are not level. We will be buying new tiles and having the floor redone, so we asked for a partial refund (for just the work on the floor), which was denied. We then tried to see if there was any other resolution we could agree on since Better Call Carl claims he has a one-year warranty. He refused to uphold his warranty. We'll be going with another professional from here on and would not recommend Better Call Carl to anyone.

After seeking out contractors for over a year we discovered Jake at Grit City Remodel. We invited…read morehim over to give us an estimate on a large project in the primary bedroom and adjoining hallway as well as a mid-sized project downstairs. Jake works with a talented designer, Miranda, who listened to what we wanted and developed renderings for the two projects. From these renderings alone, Jake was able to execute the vision that we had for both projects. The primary bedroom remodel consisted of removing the existing reach-in closets as well as joining two hallway closets together to create one room and open them into the primary bedroom via an arched entry. This created a walk-in closet for the primary bedroom. The reach-in closet space became a custom built in with an electric fireplace, hardwood bookshelf, and plenty of hidden storage behind (the old closet space) which is accessed trough a hidden doorway (who doesn't want a secret door in their home?). The project require the demolition of multiple walls, the building of new walls, and the custom built-in as well. The downstairs project did not require any demolition but brought its own challenges: custom floor level storage, electric wiring for the fireplace, TV, and AV equipment, etc. We wanted the same aesthetic as upstairs but not the same finish. Jake was able to pull it all together from Miranda's renderings through finish painting. Jake was on-site for all of the work and we've been so impressed that we're already planning his calendar for next year at our house!
