We invited…read morehim over to give us an estimate on a large project in the primary bedroom and adjoining hallway as well as a mid-sized project downstairs. Jake works with a talented designer, Miranda, who listened to what we wanted and developed renderings for the two projects. From these renderings alone, Jake was able to execute the vision that we had for both projects. The primary bedroom remodel consisted of removing the existing reach-in closets as well as joining two hallway closets together to create one room and open them into the primary bedroom via an arched entry. This created a walk-in closet for the primary bedroom. The reach-in closet space became a custom built in with an electric fireplace, hardwood bookshelf, and plenty of hidden storage behind (the old closet space) which is accessed trough a hidden doorway (who doesn't want a secret door in their home?). The project require the demolition of multiple walls, the building of new walls, and the custom built-in as well. The downstairs project did not require any demolition but brought its own challenges: custom floor level storage, electric wiring for the fireplace, TV, and AV equipment, etc. We wanted the same aesthetic as upstairs but not the same finish. Jake was able to pull it all together from Miranda's renderings through finish painting. Jake was on-site for all of the work and we've been so impressed that we're already planning his calendar for next year at our house!

Out of…read moreall the quotes we got, ABC was the most reasonably priced and was going to ensure supporting beam was installed. So when we needed all our drywall jointed remudded after popcorn removal, we decided to hire ABC. Three whole days of work. They mudded all the joints, sanded, chalked the the edges where the ceiling and wall met, and put a light texture on our ceiling. Overall, we are very happy and our ceilings look fantastic. We hired Vitaliy to help us renovate our upstairs bathroom due to a leak. He replaced the floor and…read moreinstalled a brand new walk-in shower. As much as I would have loved it I'm so disappointed with the outcome. The first time I took a shower I mentioned to him that the shower base creaks loudly, and he told me he put expanding foam to help it, but if that doesn't work then there's nothing else he can do unless I buy another base. It doesn't make any sense as this was all brand new. Also he states that the shower base was made from cheap material, that's why he says it creaks. I can assure you it was not cheap at all. I spent an approximate $1,200 on that walk-in shower so I'm sure it's not because it's made from "cheap" material. The only areas that don't creak are the edges where he used the foam. However, right in the middle of the shower base is where it creaks the most, and when you press on it, you can tell there isn't any cushion between the floor and the base. As more days have passed, I've noticed a lot of imperfections from his work. He left a big scratch and two holes in my wall, he has left boot marks on the shower base that I can't get rid of, the glass doors constantly keep sliding down and they are not parallel to the walls so water escapes, he didn't finish the baseboard around the vanity, and finally, the metal carpet trim that transitions from the bathroom floor to hallway was placed crooked - one side is in the middle of the door frame while the other side extends past it. I did have to ask him to come back a second time because the leak was not resolved. Thankfully he found that problem and fixed it. However I spent good money on this remodel and I'm not satisfied with the outcome. I have spent too much time trying to look for someone else to fix this issue since he said there's nothing else he can do. Overall I thought I was getting a good deal for this renovation but in the end it's costing me more to fix a problem I didn't even start with. What a nightmare! Would not recommend this business to anyone!

In installing the sink his damaged the counter top which cannot be repaired. If that wasn't enough he had to come back 3 times to stop a simple leak. Five years ago we had carpet installed and were left with an annoying gap between the carpet and the baseboard. It drove me crazy! Carl not only handled the installation beautifully, but he also made sure the new padding was thick enough to eliminate that gap entirely. A problem that bothered me for five years - gone in one day thanks to Carl. Fast, professional, detail-oriented, and genuinely thoughtful. We couldn't recommend him more!

We will not be working with Better Call Carl again. Last November, we hired him to perform a…read more"bathroom refresh". Hooked us in with a great price and great initial communication. On the first day on the renovation, we went through all the details of changes we wanted to make with his team. Somehow, these details never came to fruition. They did a great job with the drywall, painting, and tub installation - however, their tile work in the shower is subpar (the tiles were placed crooked and we had to go in to regrout ourselves). We previously had plumbing work done, so the cabinetry underneath the vanity had to be replaced. Better Call Carl figured the best way to do this was to just patchwork plywood (we went back ourselves to fix). He also didn't see the need for continuous baseboards (see photo). The biggest problem we have is with the floors - we also had terrazzo floor tiles placed and confirmed with the team prior to starting that there were enough tiles to complete the project. The floor is not up to industry standard nor ADA requirements. The grout lines are all different sizes and the actual tiles are not level, resulting in a trip hazard. There are also tiles that have been chipped both during and after installation. We reached out to Better Call Carl after work was complete to see if he could replace the floor - he was reluctant to come back, but he did end up replacing two tiles (out of 21). Even after the second round, the floor is a little more level, but nowhere near the standard or expectation. There are still chipped tiles, uneven grout lines, and tiles that are not level. We will be buying new tiles and having the floor redone, so we asked for a partial refund (for just the work on the floor), which was denied. We then tried to see if there was any other resolution we could agree on since Better Call Carl claims he has a one-year warranty. He refused to uphold his warranty. We'll be going with another professional from here on and would not recommend Better Call Carl to anyone.

I looked on his website and the pictures of work he has done looked amazing! The appointment was for this morning at 10am. He was on time. Very polite and went to work right away. He pointed out a spot on the subfloor that would cause a problem and he fixed it right away. He worked hard the whole time and the results looked like he has been doing flooring for 10 years or more. We are very pleased and happy that we met Valentyne and that he was the one who vinyled our bathroom floor! We will recommend him to our friends. His price was fair and charged the quoted price. I
