    I contacted Ben's Appliance about my leaking refrigerator and communicated with Elizabeth via text,…read morephotos, and several phone calls to diagnose the issue. I was given a tentative diagnosis and an estimated cost via text. When Ben came to do the repair, I was not home, but my mother was present. After the work was completed, my mother called to inform me of the total cost, which was double the estimate I was provided. I asked to speak with Ben to ask for clarification. As soon as I expressed my concern, Ben became highly agitated and began yelling, claiming the higher cost was due to taking everything apart. I had to ask him to stop shouting at me because I was simply trying to understand the charges, not to avoid payment. I also told him that I felt he should have discussed and explained what the problem was and the cost before the repair began, especially given the significant deviation from the estimate. When I told him what I was quoted, he said it was wrong and that he would "chastize" her later. After we hung up, he continued yelling at my mother in our home, then slammed the door after being paid. Once I reviewed the receipt, I noticed the reason the price was different was due to a "service fee". Not the additional labor cost to take everything apart, as Ben mentioned. Elizabeth was actually in the ballpark with the cost for the "repair". She just failed to mention the fee for them to come out. I called Elizabeth to provide feedback and to ask why this fee wasn't disclosed upfront. She said it wasn't mentioned because I "never asked." I guess I wasn't specific enough when I asked how much it would cost for them to come out and fix it. She then put me on speaker, and Ben again became defensive, yelling, and calling me a clown before abruptly ending the call. I understand that estimates can change, but fixed fees should be disclosed and discussed upfront. Treating a PAYING customer disrespectfully when requesting clarification is entirely unacceptable. I caution anyone considering Ben's Appliance.

I described my issue with my freezer (loud buzzing sound when the motor comes on) and he was able to schedule a technician to come by on Monday afternoon to work around my schedule. The technician, Vasyl, texted me when he was on his way and arrived promptly as scheduled. He was able to quickly diagnose the issue (ice build up that was hitting the freezer fan when it turns on). To repair, I needed to move all the food items out of the freezer and into coolers, and Vasyl was able to quickly repair the issue by manually defrosting the ice build up using a commercial steamer tool. He inspected the fan and it was still operating normally and no buzzing, so it did not need to be replaced. He was able to diagnose the issue and finish the work within one hour of arrival. The repair price was reasonable and the inspection fee was waived since I went ahead with the repair. Vasyl also answered my questions about how to prevent this from happening again and also some recommendations on future fridges when it is time to replace mine. Vasyl was very friendly, professional, and courteous. Thank you Vitalii and Vasyl for fixing my fridge on such short notice. My family really appreciates the quick turnaround, fast diagnosis and repair, your transparency on the issue, and not recommending any unnecessary replacement parts. You saved us money from buying a whole new fridge!

    This business might be a scam. They have come out to fix our refrigerator twice - and no complaints…read morethere. But - the same problem persisted weeks after the second fix. I tried calling - left a message. Again, left a message. Left another. Then my wife. Then me again. No call back. So - I was frustrated and scheduled an appointment. I didn't get any confirmation, so I called again and got the answering machine. I called back from a 503 number and low and behold, I finally talk to someone. They said that I have an appointment (tomorrow at 1PM). I saw something like - 'I must have missed the confirmation message' but there was none. The next day transpires and it is a no-call no-show. It is the absolute worst customer service I have ever had. I left a final message saying it seems like you are screening your calls and not responding to me for what I can only think is you don't want to have to fix the repair you made that did t work. Then my wife started calling again and again... got someone that said they would 'transfer her to accounting' -- HAHA! There is no 'accounting department' - what a scam. I just can't believe you were just so bad at every aspect and interaction. All the calls, the messages unreturned, no confirmation for the visit, the no-call no-show, how easy it was to get a hold of you from a different 503 number, and then the lie about the accounting department. How are you even in business?

Quick diagnosis (broken belt), quick repair and reasonable price (total after tax $300.00). New machine would have been $900.00. 5 year warranty on the job. Nice guys, tidy, vacuumed everything up, gave me advice on how to avoid repairs with my washing machine too. In and out in no time. They also repaired my gas stove a couple of years ago with no fuss. I had a…read morecompletely opposite experience, my tech Bob, was knowledgeable, courteous and more than fair. I would call them back for any service I need, they are just that good!! I don't write reviews often but when someone goes above and beyond to do a great job and be a decent human on top of that, it merits some acknowledgment! Quick tip: A lot of "Appliance repair" businesses send out a diagnostic technician that basically fluffs you for the real tech to come out and fleece you. Smaller businesses, usually have just a qualified tech go out that is able to fix your issue on site right there and then! The downside is they are not going to always be on time due the time it takes to do the actual repair for the person before you. Call the smaller company if you can, schedule your call for first thing in the AM if you can, and always call at least 5 companies and go with your gut. If the tech comes out and feels as though he is full of it, chances are good you are right. In my experience Sound is well worth another try!

Coincidently the hot water tank went out at the same time so she had them repair that as well. They did replace the part in the hot water tank that day, but had to order a part for the dryer. They promised to come back the next day to finish the dryer. After waiting all day they never showed up. After several phone calls an old lady at their office said they would be out the next day. Well... today the garage is flooded from the hot water heater. They obviously did something wrong there and still haven't showed up for the dryer. Of course my mom is very upset so she called them again this morning and the man on the other end of the phone started insulting her for being upset. She called blind from the yellow pages, which made me look them up on here. Obviously they have a very, very bad reputation. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE! They are a scam and crooks! They need to go to jail... They come and take peoples money, lie to them, and never come back. Plus they do not know what they are doing and will destroy your appliances...
