When there was a rice shortage everywhere else during the Covid panic, I bought a large bag of rice for a very reasonable price here. They are always friendly and helpful. My wife, who was born in the Philippines, likes to buy chayote and other products at this store. I definitely recommend this business. read more

Nice range for a smaller store, friendly and helpful employees. They were out of mango pulp, but so were all the other stores. Fresh sesame buns behind the counter made up for it :) read more

The store could not make change for larger bills for a $2.19 purchase today. Then they wanted a $.50 fee to use a credit card. Either keep sufficient cash to make change in the cash register or waive a high credit card fee for a $2.19 purchase. read more

After esting brunch at The Butter House, we wanted to check out Filipinas Market for some Filipino snacks! It felt so nice to see some snacks from back home, even found some I haven't had since I was kid! The prices were also great. The people were helpful as well! I ended up getting Ding Dong and tamarind! read more

Nice little store. Clean and organized. Friendly staff. I came specifically for dinuguan but I should've called beforehand. I guess they made it the day before I came! Anyway, I ordered some longganisa and chicken adobo with rice and a side of squash. I was not a fan of the adobo because they put pineapples in it, which I'm not used to, and every bite, I was having to spit out chicken bones. Other than that, I'd definitely come back here if I ever need ingredients for Filipino food! read more

What a pleasant tasty surprise! Visited the area and drove by this place. Thought I'd explore and found this treasure. Guess everything is homemade and they run out when they run out but I got lucky with this 2 item rice plate (about $10) with pork adobo on right and not sure what's on left but was very tasty with carrots and potatoes. Temp was perfect and food tasted fresh. Can't complain about anything. It was hard to not eat it all only because i wanted to share tastes with my family at home. Next time I'll bring them all. read more

This place is really good for a low cost fish lunch to take outside or to the beach nearby. They have a small fish market in the back and the owner will fry your selected seafood items whole style with a garlic salt rub on them cooked to any degree you choose. The Pompano done medium rare is my go to as the skin is delicious and it tastes much like roasted yellow tail collar at a sushi joint. They have a selection of hot tray items too but more as sides in my opinion. Buy a jar of your favorite sauce and a drink or BYOB and its a curbside dinner. read more

Disappointing. I came here for Filipino food because I had a craving since Lola's kitchen closed in marina. First off it was kind of busy with many eating plates inside. I went to order to find out that plates didn't exist?? I couldn't get a plate I had to buy everything in Chinese style containers while everyone else had plates, I assume this is to charge me more. Out of the items I asked for I was given very little meat and a lot of bell peppers and onions, all which lacked flavor. I wouldn't come back here, you're better off at Joliibee. I wish Lola's kitchen was still around! It's very missed! read more

[Review is for their lunch items] Let us be honest and admit that there will always be a legion of us - humans - who remain completely enslaved to our inner selves, namely, our stomachs. Cravings surface from areas unknown and beckon us to move towards a certain beacon while losing our mental focus, our mental control, and even our true personalities. It is like a drug that consumes us; yet, it is nothing more than a craving for a particular dish, a particular taste...a particular flavor. Like many who are spoiled by any big city, my cravings tend to be seasonal. Some last longer than others but they come and they go. But that's the great thing about being from the city OR living close to a BIG city. You can go through these seasons unharmed because all cravings - no matter the intensity - can be appeased by a short drive. So let's say that my Filipino food cravings hit like a freight truck again. Maybe it is a summer/post-summer thing but I've got to admit that when it comes, it comes like a Filipino thunderstorm - nothing is left untouched. I went to my usual immediate spots and partook of all that they had to offer but was left wanting. I knew I needed to find something better to keeps everything in check. I stumbled upon them quite by accident actually. I wasn't even aware that they had hot food items available, which is obviously noob of me for not having double checked after growing up around these stores that ALWAYS have some form of food providence due to the cultural need to be replenished. SO when I finally knew of it, I've been back at least 5 times within a short span and is now part of my mom-pop pigeon spots for ethnic cuisine. Their offerings are limited and rotates daily with about 8 main options to choose from. However, it is $6 + tax for a two item combo FOR really well prepared authentic Filipino dishes. I swear that the moment I first tasted their food...I was won over immediately. They were going to get this 5-star review that day and after 4 more visits, I still haven't changed my mind. Lovely people, lovely food, and a cute lunch crowd. :) read more

When I moved to Monterey a couple of years ago, I visited this store. Wasn't too pleased with the woman who was there. Wasn't friendly at all, and not much to buy at that place. That was my first and last . First impressions matters to me. read more

Not much here except dry goods. I guess what's popular is the steam table in the back, but when I got there everything was finished by 1 PM. I ended up buying some things from their frozen section read more

Great Filipino food. Had the two item meal with rice. One was a beef strew and the other was strewed beef in a coconut sauce. The other dish with blood sauce or the one with squid looked interesting so I have go back for it. Walking through the food isles to get to the diner in back had all the signs of a good place. There was a line of customers about 3 deep waiting to order so I knew the food must be good. I've only had Filipino food two time previously so I can't say I'm an expert on the dishes but it tasted good so that is all that really matters. The two item with rice cost about $7 but was enough food to feed two people or on really hungry person . The Filipino spaghetti sauce on the shelf next to the spaghetti noodles made me think all I need are hot dogs and I got myself some Filipino comfort food. read more

Filipinas Market - Imported Food Near Me - Seaside, California

I find everything I need in this little market place. It's been my go to for ready-made Filipino food when I'm feeling lazy to cook it myself, and when I need a few ingredients here and there, alongside some treats/snacks the Filipinas Market works for me. The owners are friendly and accommodating. It's at a good central location--near other eateries, fast access to freeway, etc. I also appreciate that they have fresh fish you can buy--which they will clean (and fry for you, if you wish). As a tip, get there early, i.e., when they first open at 10:30am so that you have first choice with their food to go. They don't cook too many varieties so it goes fast. Ample 1 hour parking in the front, if you get there early, as well. Otherwise, parking slots are available within the small shopping center. Just nice to be able to park in front or near the store. read more

I have been a loyal customer of this neat little store for over a decade and always make it a point to visit and buy a few things whenever I am in the area. If you are looking for Filipino-Asian food products, you will more than likely find it here. Though limited in variety, they also sell fresh fish and vegetables. You can have your fish cleaned and fried in the store for an additional fee if the owners are not busy. What earns this place a 5 star rating? The addition of the eatery with a few tables and chairs in the back of the store. This place, without question, has the best Filipino food in the whole county. The Filipino restaurants in all of Monterey County can't hold a candle to this place, considering that this is a small store with an eatery and not a restaurant. Believe me, I know, I make a weekly drive to Seaside to get my fix on home-cooked Filipino food and there are a couple of Filipino restaurants closer to where I live. They have around 6-10 dishes everyday but there is no everyday set menu. "Kuyang" (what I call the owner -- a respectful Filipino term used to call a slightly older man) cooks whatever is available. But don't you worry, "Kuyang" knows his flavors and stays as traditional as possible, which sets him apart from all the Filipino restaurants/eatery in the county. If you are looking for or want to try an authentic, traditional, home-cooked Filipino food, this is your place. Call if you want to know what is in the menu. Get there early or even place an order or two when you call because they run out of food fast; I am not kidding! And when you do, be brave and try the "Dinuguan or Dinardaraan"(pig blood and meat stew), you will not be disappointed. The only person who will probably be disappointed is my wife because she wanted to keep this place a secret. read more

Who ever is the cook here is the best. Very tasty and on point authentic Filipino food. And this place saved my butt when there was a rice shortage during the pandemic Awesomeness! read more

For being COVID era this was a nice small market. Seemed clean didn't have that "Asian Market" smell. The gentleman was very nice and they seemed to have all CDC guidelines in place. They had exactly what I needed so I was very pleased and would shop here again. read more

I come here for some comforting Filipino food. Food won't last long so you gotta get some by noon. All my family members love the filipino food from the cafe portion of this market in the University Mall. Menu items change frequently, and some popular items sell out, so arrive early. An amazing market with so many different products, all of which are of great quality. Their food is pretty good but the fish they sell is amazing, whether you cook it and clean it yourself or ask them to. Truly do love this little place. read more

Recently enjoyed a couple Key Lime Cocktails at the Sardine Factory and although not a fan of sweet drinks this one is killer because it has a nice balance of sweet and tart and also the texture is uique because they add a little Cream of Coconut. So of course, I need to buy Cream of Coconut just in case I need to re-invent this cocktail or something similiar at my house so I run to Indian Filipino Market since I figure they are one of the few places that would carry it. They did and I left with a bag full of goodies, including Thai Sweet Chili Sauce, Daddy Dough Peanuts, Eggroll Wrappers, Spring Roll wrapping papers and Rice Noodles since my gentleman friend has been on a 3 month gluten free kick. read more

I love buying groceries at funky mom 'n pop places, and this is definitely one of them. Moreover, you can find all kinds of Filipino treats that are otherwise absent in Monterey County. So far my favorite items to be had are the Papaya Soap, Dried Squid, Fish/Cuttlefish chips, Thai Iced Tea, and the goodies from Goldilocks that they carry. The only reason why I'm holding out on that last, fifth star, is that it's sometimes a bit too disorganized for my tastes (me? OCD you say? neverrrrr.....) That, and the month-old cans of Shaving Cream....I found them, forgotten, perhaps, on the very very bottom corner of some shelves. Then again, its these quirks that I find so wonderful, much more so than the cold distant creepy feeling you get at Albertsons....On a final note, the service is wonderful, everyone is always smiling at you; and, as mentioned before, its one of those mom/pop shops that make grocery shopping bearable. read more

I like this market. It has a good selection of stuff, a friendly vibe and the prices are decent too. This is basically one of the only places on the Peninsula where you can buy Indian products as far as I know. I get frozen parathas, chappatis, big bags of Tilda basmati, different flours like chickpea, urad, and atta and almost all spices I need such as coriander, cumin, chili, mustard seed, tumeric. They also have a very decent selection of Thai ingredients like fresh galangal, lemon grass, lime leaves and a huge variety of chili pastes from the big brands Maesri and Mae Ploy. In the last aisle, they also sell cooking implements and my husband found a manual coconut grater (the kind you stand on) the other day. I can't wait to see him use that! :) read more

I give this place 4 stars for a Flip market and 3 for Indian... The thing I likes most about this place is that the owner is super nice and helpful in a really genuine way. Answers all your questions and offers advice on certain products. They have a great selection of Asian groceries, some produce and frozen items... really good selection of prepared Lumpia and shells if you want to go it alone, second only to the military commissary. Bottled thai iced tea is also great. As far as the Indian groceries go, they have the basics. An okay selection of rice (but no 817 Elephant Brand, please message me if you know where to buy it!!), good selection of atta and daal. They have some papad and pickle, but not a huge variety. Good for everyday shopping. They also carry amli paste (tamarind) to make sweet chutney. I will never again make sweet chutney by soaking amli, too time consuming. I use this paste with the other ingredients... done in 2 minutes. People have been telling me for years, I just didn't listen. It's not the store of my dreams, but its close to home and has good amount of the things I need. I'm happy its here. read more

I've been going to this place for 7 years now and it's the BEST AND FRESHEST FILIPINO FOOD in California! No recycling. Whatever they're cooking that day they don't sell it again the next day unlike other places I've been. Thank you for always helping us with our Filipino food cravings! read more

Friendly and fast service. I even chose a fish (go all the way to the back, can't miss it) that they cleaned and fried up for me. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. The only reason I took off a star is because I'm used to going to places with a larger selection of Filipino or asian foods (i.e. Seafood city, Mitsua, etc.). But this place totally works for getting my fix until I go to the aforementioned grocery stores. read more

A hidden gem. Not necessarily the best Filipino food, but what's awesome about this place is the ability to pick and fish and have them fry it for you! Just don't buy their siopao. read more

My brother from Long Beach found this market for me on a weekend visit. It's now somewhere I go when I want to escape California on my hour lunch. News to me, there's a whole universe of spices I know nothing about, and you can find tons of them here. Currently, my favorite is whole cumin seeds. Amazing to quickly fry up in some oil, then mix in rice, or red lentils...toss in some ground turmeric, salt & pepper and you have a fantastic dal. I LOVE THIS MARKET! and they sell Milo, something I discovered in Peru; sort of like ovaltine, but using water instead of milk, so it's less rich. yummm. I don't know, you have have to go here for yourself. AND, the people who run the place are really friendly and nice and don't seem to mind if you ask really stupid questions, which I do all the time. read more

As a filipino who on occasion has a hankering for flip food, this place is a blessing. With mom, no longer living within a 5 mile radius(she and dad had to go and move darn them!), I am forced to make my own filipino delicacies. Being able to find sinigang packets, bagoong, Ube(taro) or avocado ice cream, pancit fixings, Goldilocks enseymada, you name it, is wonderful and I don't have to drive all the way to San Jose to get this stuff. Yes it is disorganized but it's an adventure. Oh and the people who work there are very friendly. Mabuhay! read more

I guess I could give it 5 if I had something else to compare it to. But, for now, I'm leaving one off only for their dismal vegetable selection. I personally don't mind going to a few different stores to get everything, but I know some people are "one-stop shoppers'. An interesting place to meander as it is a true Indian-Filipino market... as in, I have no idea what most of the stuff is so it all looks fantastically mysterious to me!
