    Mmm beer and cider

This place can only be described as WOW lol!! Lost count how many times ive been here , with family, friends or aqaintances. Whatever i order it tastes just like back home in Sweden at my grandparents house . The staff and owner are super friendly and are always happy/cheerful !! Always up for explaining a dish or a friendly chit chat . Its a bit pricey but there are never any complaints!! Foods delicous every time and the funniest thing is when people bag me out about the Fika cafe and as soon as they sit down and eat they're automatically speechless . For me this was an easy 5 star rating !!

Smørrebrød - It's like a Swedish food map.

My only experience with Swedish food is IKEA, and though it's all snap frozen, cheap and quick, I've never had any qualms about it. Now, Fikas Swedish Kitchen really opened my eyes, I realized what I've experienced with Swedish food so far was worse than "bottom of the barrel". Given that FSK seems to have very authentic stuff, I genuinely enjoyed every bit of it. Surrounded by yellow and blue cushions and cups, European snacks and cake, everything was so happy and light. We ordered the sautéed mushrooms, Smørrebrød (Swedish tapas plate), Knäckebröd (crispbread with egg and caviar), and the Gothenburg hot dog. That is 4 mains amongst 2 and we really packed up shop, not a crumb was left behind. The caviar was a bit too strong for me, but the hot dog and Smørrebrød were delicious. There was something so light about the entire meal - How you manage that with a pork sausage and mash hot dog I don't know, but it actually tasted healthy and was effortless to eat. As everyone else has mentioned, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They taught us a thing or two about how to pronounce each dish, explains why I went to the effort to actually use the correct names.

Sweden in Sydney. Fika is one of our top places to eat in Manly. In fact, I think the last 3 times we've been to Manly have resulted in us stopping in here to get some succulent swedish samplings. I'm not going to go overboard with the break down, other than to say here are the three things we routinely order (and vouch for!): 1. Swedish Meatballs - this dish is about as far away from IKEA's offering as you can imagine. Delicious in every component, this is my usual "must have" item. 2. Skaggen - I can honestly vouch that this is one of their finest items. When I ate this the other day it dawned on me that this dish, at Fika, is better than when I had it in Stockholm. Cooked prawns, dill, avocado on toast might not sound like the perfect summer dish... but trust me, it's fantastic (and great in summer when Meatballs + gravy sounds a little much). 3. Iced Coffee - I don't think I've ordered this before at Fika, but man... I could have 3 of them without blinking... so good. Get it We will be frequent patrons of Fika... and you should try it.

    Swedish lunch! Without the weather

I enjoyed eating here, it was a bit different & really brings a bit of Sweden to Sydney. However having said that there were a few things lacking. One was menu, it wasn't as extensive as I normally like, plus as I am looking to lose weight not much choice for me. Second the chairs were awful, tiny wobbly garden chairs or stools, neither designed to encourage relaxing & enjoyment. For lunch I had the Toast Skagen which is $20, it's prawns with dill & lemon mayo mix on sourdough toast, the presentation was lovely & appetising, there were plenty of prawns, dill & mayo mix. The only detractor was I felt the mix could have had more seasoning & the portion for the cost was a bit small. My hubby had the meatball sub, it was tasty, well presented & the pickled cucumber on the side was pretty as well as tasty. The service was good, friendly without being too familiar & our food was served fairly quickly. Overall worth a visit if you are ever Manly way & fancy something a bit different

Nice tea selection. I went with the traditional Swedish meatballs referred to as meat and mash. The berry jam was good with the mashed potatoes and meatballs. Hubby had the Swedish Pancake. A little different than a US pancake. More like a French toast.

The service was friendly and based on reviews, I had high expectations, but the food was just average, so the 3 star rating was tough. Having tried only a little Nordic food (Ikea and Svens Swedish pizza, which my dining partner says is not real Swedish food), my dining partner and I were curious to try the real taste of the Nordic region. Unfortunately the dishes were quite average. Bacon and egg rolls and poached eggs on toast were featured on the menu and we failed to see how they were Nordic. I had the toast skagen, which was small prawns with mayo on top of avocado on toast, garnished with dill and lemon. My dining partner had a semolina porridge. We couldn't have ordered those exact dishes else where but at the same time, we didn't understand how they were Nordic. If you like your ice coffees strong, this is the place to be. My dining partner's beetroot juice was good, but at $7.50 for an average sized glass, it was a little too much.

How to describe our experience here? Delicious. Honestly the food here is so refreshing, tasty and edible you want to order more but you're too full already... I didn't know what to expect coming here, all I'd heard was raving reviews and recommendations and now I am one of them. If you like trendy cafe meets all day breakfast and simple not overdressed food with a Swedish style than you'd be coming to right place. We had the sauteed mushrooms with horseradish cream and poached egg on sourdough, those mushrooms were a definite crowd pleaser, I saw it on the tables of many around us and not for long. Also had the semolina porridge with spiced apple compote and toffee bits, herre gud..is so good! Next was thin pancakes and the Swedish meatballs. Now there's something about the way they do meatballs that is so simplistic and not overwhelming in flavorsome sauces. Truly culturally yum. The pancakes sort of reminded me of the Russian style pancakes but sweet all the same. The service was very hyper, enthusiastic and energetic, friendly and mostly prompt. We were seated right away which was pleasing. It's only a small restaurant here so you could bring everyone but I'd book ahead if you want to drag along large parties. Otherwise perfect for the ole couples and other two-threesome gatherings and small families. You seat right next to the couples next to you so be prepared to drown out their conversations with your own. We're coming back we know for sure there's still more to try and I'm curious to delve into their alcoholic menu, including the ciders. Dinner would have to be the next option. Definitely recommend!

We have been meaning to try this place given not many places are "Swedish" which this place is a "speciality" plus having heard good reviews of the place we expected to be wowed. However it wasn't the case. We had similar experiences to others who have advised having average food. We had the Salmon Lover dish and the Fralla - both were ok.....I would also add the prices are quite steep compared to what you can get elsewhere in Manly and quality would I think be better. The tea selection was different and I enjoyed my Stockholm South tea. The service was lovely however we probably won't be back.

    Skagen brekkie: delish!

Hej Hej! Where to start the accolades for Fika? Warm & friendly service, outstanding coffee, different brekkie choices that are well presented and very tasty! The Skagen brekkie (prawns, roe, red onion & dill with mayo in an avocado: YUM!

I stood at the terminal entrance and was faced with two options: a) Gloria Jeans or b) unnamed bakery / café across the way. Being the anti-corporation, "mum and pop" supporter that I am, that choice was a no brainer. I ordered a soy cappuccino and a chocolate macaroon. As I touched that coffee to my lips, I was thrilled with my decision. The coffee was remarkably made, had a perfect medium roast and silky smooth milk. The macaroon was a perfect combination of airy crunch followed by chewy finish. It was so delicious I probably could have thrown 4 or 5 of those little loves down the hatch and not looked back. Luckily, I cut it to the last minute and had to run straight past Laurent in order to catch my ferry home. Temporary fatness averted.

This place is great; very reasonably priced food and a great atmosphere inside the Manly wharf. I bought a chicken and avocado roll for $6, and it was amazing! Well presented, tasted good, and even though it was only a chicken roll, it made me feel upper class. You should see the deserts they have available! Little miatures cakes of various designs and flavours, they have had a lot of effort put into their production. I actually saw someone stop as they walked past, look at the cakes, and exclaim in excitement. Its not only a café, but also a bakery, so yu can pick up some pretty nice-looking loaves of bread on your way home. I guess the best part is the vibe. You don't spend heaps, but the open luxury of the café, with the sound of seagulls on the wharf... It's a cool place to stop for coffee. But having said that, it's not a restaurant, so don't plan a big event out of it, it's a simple café, inside a wharf.

Rollers Bakehouse - Perfect display of pastries

They close at 2:00P, so we wanted to get there early and choose from the full selection. I loved their display of baked goods which are all lined up neatly into perfect arrays. Racks of the pastries were right behind the counter, including both sweet and savory options. The employee manning the front was so warm and seemed happy to help answer our questions about the day's offerings. She said the most popular item all year round is their almond croissant, filled with an almond frangipane, but her personal favorite at the time was the seasonal Hazelnut Praline Brioche. Given that this is something you don't see at any ordinary bakery, I couldn't resist and you could say she talked me into it! My second choice would have been their handheld apple pie with its perfect lattice and caramelized sugar on top. The HAZELNUT PRALINE BRIOCHE (A$12) was essentially a light airy donut filled with a smooth chocolate hazelnut cream that tasted like a Ferrero Rocher. The amount of filling was generous and oozed out with every bite... I could have eaten spoonfuls of the filling just by itself! A slightly crunchy praline crumb topping gave it a crisp cap. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of this brioche as it wasn't too rich nor too sweet. I also got a flat white coffee which was good, hot and paired nicely with my brioche. My mom got their seasonal lemon monkey bread which she said was just okay. It didn't have that cinnamon gooeyness that one would normally expect in this type of dessert. Similarly, they also offered a lemon vanilla custard tart which my sister enjoyed. Oddly, it was labeled only as a "vanilla tart" on the display, which is a little misleading, especially for anyone who's not a fan of citrus. This cafe has a nice open air seating area with ample space, a couple seats at the coffee counter and some seats outside. Most of the tables were already occupied by the time we arrived, so we sat outside. With the cafe being located in an alleyway, we were able to savor our pastries in the morning sun without any cars or traffic whizzing by. What a lovely way to begin our day in Manly!

Rollers was designed nicely and has an outdoor/indoor patio is a minute from the beach at Manly. Now on to the food. I felt like there more chorizo and cheddar filling than hash brown so was a little depressed i didn't taste that. But all in all the croissant still tasted great. 5/5 stars
