They are fabulous. I rented a bike for 2+ weeks and probably rode 100 miles on that thing. It was awesome. They put a bag on it, adjusted the brakes halfway through and were so helpful. I will definitely rent from them next time or even buy from them if I move there.

The bike was to be purchased with the payout by insurance for my stolen bike and would require we pay a top up of 30 Euro. Then as we went to get the bike we were told we owed another 80 Euro just for the bike, plus additional 30 for a lock. The reason being the type of insurance and insurance company charged the store 20% extra. We insisted this was not our burden, that the deal was struck and they should honour it: not charge us an additional 110 euros. In going back and forth with them, Nikolai was speaking with us and was extremely rude, treating myself and a friend with disrespect. I do not recommend this store to anyone!

I've used a bike for 3 days, returned very clean barely touched because details were falling apart and I just disliked the quality. They refused to reimburse the full price even though it was bought just a few days ago. The owner just plainly lied to my face that they will lose €20 on bank transactions alone and when I said I will gladly accept cash he said he doesn't have any, then after negotiating a return price to 2/3 of the original he just got out the wallet and paid in cash. That's almost funny.

Another downside of the new location for me is that it's in a way more frequented area, that's why I couldn't get my brake and lights fixed on the spot. Since I had to leave it there I got a leenfiets (think of bringing a legitimatie or credit card for that). With the red bike I immediately felt like a tourist and was tempted to behave accordingly. Lekker de verkeerde kant op fietsen in the middle of the street, stop and turn on the fietspad, just because I can. But I resisted. Today I got my bike back and my conclusion is that I can recommend this Mac Bike because of the friendly staff and good service.

When my wallet was stolen from my bag later and I was without ANYTHING, Todd and the other employees let me use their wifi to make contact back home and figure out what my next steps would be. Todd helped me find the police station and everyone did their best to calm me down while I completely flipped out. It's like they transported some fixie portland bike mechanic to Amsterdam. Friendly Brompton enthusiasts working there (like every other Brompton shop honestly). I took a titanium flat bar demo bike out for a spin, unfolded it outside around a crowd of onlookers. Got a ton of "ooh-ahhs" and applause when did the last step and flipped the bike open. Cute indeed.

But I WAS surprised that in bike city no one came up with this idea erlier. I saved their number on my mobile phone despite my naive hope that I'll never have to call them. Shortly after I had to and I was thankful to hear that one of them was in the hood and I didn't have to wait too long. The guy came equipped with spare wheel, bike pump and toolset. The bike was quickly fixed and I don't remember what the service cost but I do remember that it is very good value for money and no extra urgency charge. So, I recommend everyone to save the number of DAFT to get quick hassle-free help in bike emergencies.

He went above and beyond to fix my husband's bike. He put the pedal crank back on, tightened a few things and oiled the chain. Very nice guy. I emailed them over a holiday weekend, so it took a little while to get a response since we had to go back and forth a bit. Very convenient, but I had to wait an extra day since they couldn't meet me until after 11am. And even though I asked for the price ahead of time, they forgot to send it to me. Though, I think the cost was reasonable. I would just make sure you know the price before you go if it's not already on the price list. You can pay in cash or they will invoice you and you can transfer the funds that day. They have an app, but it's iOS only for now. :(
