Vorige keer toen hij kapot ging zeiden ze dat ik een nieuwe zou krijgen als hij het opnieuw niet deed. Nu is alweer kapot en heb ik Vanmoof gemaild maar ze reageren niet.

If you're looking for an affordable designer city bike, you should definitely drop by. As some of…read morethe reviewers mentioned, this young company started by two Dutch designers, won awards for the innovate industrial designs -- incorporating a really bright led front head and rear tail light into one minimal anodized aluminum tube frame. As soon as we walked in we were warmly welcomed by one of the co-owners, Taco, who guided us through all the features. [In fact, I had come in to take a look at the Strida bikes(the odd triangular commuter bike) which they the distributor for in NL. That bike is really cool, but pretty pricey.] Anyway, I couldn't make up my mind while I was there, but Taco was so nice and patient giving me options to test ride and even keep it for awhile, that I felt like buying it just because he was such a cool guy! We also took a look at their new electric assist bike, and some great features on some bikes like the built-in locks, etc. All in all, it was a great experience at their flagship store and would recommend a visit if you're considering it. It's a standout bike, so if you like the look, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Wow. I don't think…read morethat often going into any store, but what happened to me here is nothing short of amazing. Let me set the stage. My bike is old. It has gears. Many. And it makes noise. A lot of noise. Which means that I was not able to cycle very fast anymore, because noise usually means also friction... Anyway, the other thing that was wrong with it were the breaks. It came to the point where it was pretty dangerous to cycle, so action had to be taken. Since I am a good procrastinator, this was also very much overdue! So we find ourselves on a Saturday afternoon, around 4pm... 1 hour before closing time. I actually was going to the neighbor (hairdresser), and I thought, why not ask if they have time to fix my brakes real quick. I got into the workshop, and 3 guys were working on as many bikes. Here goes my luck I thought, and against better judgement, I asked one of the guys if they could fix my breaks. Even though the look on his face was a bit difficult, he walked with me to my bike, and took a quick look."Oh, these are the old style breaks" .. whatever. The guys start a quick discussion, with the result being "sure, we can fix it.. will be ready in about an hour...". I'm like "Yay!". So, while I am getting my scalp in order, they work on my bike.. and about 45 minutes later, looking sharp, I walk over to them, only to find out that my bike is already finished.. the guy just came out of the workshop, warning me that I now should be careful with braking :) So.. I went into the store, and paid for everything. I remember it was not super expensive.. about 15 euro for materials, and 20 euro for labor.. not too bad! But.. now the story takes an unexpected happy twist. I get on my bike, and start cycling. Wait just a minute. What is going on here. Where is my soundtrack? Really, I hear nothing. Nothing at all. This is amazing! In the 45 minutes or so that they worked on my bike.. they not only fixed my brakes, but only fixed the noise. I now have a bike that cycles almost perfectly. So just to be clear. They did work that I did not ask them to do. They did not charge me for it, and my bike is now a super happy bike again... and by association, I am not also super happy! Truth be told.. I have not been to other bike shops on IJburg yet (remember the procrastination?), so I would not be able to say if Bikes & Boards is better or worse than the other stores.. but I CAN say that IF your bike is broken... go here, because they can fix it quickly.. and then some!

I never thought this would happen to me... but it did! Me…read moreand my travelling companion rent 2 bikes for 4 days (was the plan). BVD copies our ID and takes a 200Euro deposit, which they will gladly take from you. On my bike the steering was able to move when we got them but even after telling the employee that this was the case, they told us it was fine and normal. So after 2 days of fun in Amsterdam my bikes decides to turn loose with me on it, which brings me to the ground instantly. A bike crash hurts and i'm lucky nothing major happened. First thing in the morning we return to the rental shop BVD Tweewielers De Cuyp. The guy who rented us the bike was there with a new prick, who instantly turned the situation around, so now it was me who broke the bike and not the bike that "broke me". Suddenly the fork was bent too, which no one but the shop owner could see, i've loved and worked with bicycles for more than 15 years and wasn't able to point it out. The whole thing ended up costing the full deposit and 2 days rental. I'm so disappointed in the mistrust and exploiting of tourism that we were victims of, I will never rent or suggest this place to anyone! Take care of yourselves and don't trust BVD Tweewielers. Ps. The whole thing destroyed my mood, and gave me a whole new view on dutch people, which is a shame, when i at the same time have had so mane positive, just NOT with BVD Tweewielers!!

This is the only bike repair shop in my area, and it is attached to a bike store. The entrance to…read morethe repair shop is on the side street, separate from the main store's entrance. The reason for the low rating is that I didn't have any issues with my bike until I brought it there for repairs, and I've had more issues in the past month than I ever did since I bought it and I don't ride it that often - maybe 1-2x per week. Either they put a curse on my bike or they did a horrible job, I'm not sure which one it is because I don't know anything about bikes. After getting into my first bicycle accident since I arrived in the Netherlands, I took my bike here to get my front wheel replaced. The staff were professional and polite, explaining what needed to be done and how much it would cost. I was given a ticket for dropping off my bike, and was told I would be notified via SMS when my bike was ready for pickup. At first I thought they did a good job, my bike was as good as new but then 2 weeks later my back wheel got a flat and the inner tube had to be replaced. Once again, I took it there to be repaired and they discovered some other issues with my bike which I also had fixed. However, I noticed that my bike rattles a lot more now and it seems like everything is very loose. Good thing is that my bike makes lots of noise so that people know I'm coming, no need for a bell! *sarcasm* It is now another 2 weeks later and guess what, my front wheel is flat... the curse has struck again!
