I never thought this would happen to me... but it did!
Me and my travelling companion rent 2 bikes for 4 days (was the plan).
BVD copies our ID and takes a 200Euro deposit, which they will gladly take from you.
On my bike the steering was able to move when we got them but even after telling the employee that this was the case, they told us it was fine and normal. So after 2 days of fun in Amsterdam my bikes decides to turn loose with me on it, which brings me to the ground instantly. A bike crash hurts and i'm lucky nothing major happened.
First thing in the morning we return to the rental shop BVD Tweewielers De Cuyp. The guy who rented us the bike was there with a new prick, who instantly turned the situation around, so now it was me who broke the bike and not the bike that "broke me". Suddenly the fork was bent too, which no one but the shop owner could see, i've loved and worked with bicycles for more than 15 years and wasn't able to point it out. The whole thing ended up costing the full deposit and 2 days rental. I'm so disappointed in the mistrust and exploiting of tourism that we were victims of, I will never rent or suggest this place to anyone! Take care of yourselves and don't trust BVD Tweewielers.
Ps. The whole thing destroyed my mood, and gave me a whole new view on dutch people, which is a shame, when i at the same time have had so mane positive, just NOT with BVD Tweewielers!! read more
