We started off with the complimentary chips and salsa and added an order of guacamole. For dinner, the kids went for non-Mexican entrees -cheeseburger and fries; and bacon wrapped shrimp and fries. Their food arrived very quickly after ordering. My wife went for a seafood (crab) chimichanga while I had the Burrito Guadalajara (2 burritos with a choice of chicken or steak). I ordered one of each - both were good but the chicken was far better than the steak. Service was excellent and our food also was served very quickly after ordering. There was hardly any wait for food.

We would have all ordered what we wanted if we had known this. You would think the waitress would just correct us and we would have no problem. English seemed to be understood just fine. Just tell us and we would have been happy. It's just shady. The sign just had an L Burrito Asada. I was thinking Large apparently Lunch. I wish I could join the chorus of 4 and 5 star reviews. Looking for a restaurant with atmosphere?…read more You won't find it here. My first warning was the decrepit sign over the door in a dilapidated strip center. But, as the saying goes, "don't judge a book by its cover." The food was good. Not great. My usual order is fajitas, this time a chicken, steak, and chicken combo. The plate was served sizzling. Served with 3 small tortillas and the usual fixin's. El Mexicano doesn't serve any beans other than refried, so, no option for black beans, pinto or borracho. The shrimp in the dish were perfect, the chicken was dried out and there were about 6 little strips of steak. The grilled onions and peppers were very good. My wife's shrimp dish was very salty. She prefers the interpretation of Shrimp Mexicana at others Mexican restaurants. And for good measure, because we asked for some lime to squeeze on the shrimp and they tacked on $2 to the bill. But what really resulted in my barely average review was the cleanliness of El Mexicano; or rather, the lack of it. You'll notice a yellow bucket that hangs on the wall in the dining room, yes, in full sight of diners. I witnessed a server drop something on the floor, grab a cloth from the bucket and clean the floor. Then, she returned the cleaning cloth to the bucket. Moments later, another server used the same cloth to clean tables! The health department would have a hissy fit if they saw this. Worse, when I mentioned this to the manager, he was indifferent. I know he understood me, he just didn't care. If the manager is so indifferent to such an obvious health hazard, I can't fathom what goes on in the kitchen. El Mexicano is a "one and done" for us.

The patio looks nice and I'm looking forward to trying it in warmer months. K-Brunch's food blew me away, my huevos rancheros were incredibly fresh and tasty. My brunch date's dish looked equally fresh and yum. Compliments to the chef, I would gladly try anything on that menu! I can't wait to come back and bring friends. My wife had chicken with shrimp, grilled vegetables and smothered in cheese. I went with Chicken Monterrey. Same deal. Chicken with grilled veggies smothered in cheese. Our friends went with El Tres-3 enchiladas. Cheese, chicken & pork. Smothered in cheese. Are we beginning to see a pattern? Throw in a steak burrito and we've got a full table. The meal started with a good margarita, fairly thick, not greasy chips and a mild salsa. Thankfully, there was some habanero hot sauce to give the salsa some kick. Tortillas served with dinner were probably from a bag and served cold. They were wrapped in foil, but I doubt they ever saw the inside of an oven. Both chicken dishes came with the thinnest chicken breast I'd ever seen. Pounded to the thickness of a piece of tilapia. So thin, it was difficult to find the chicken once it was buried in cheese. The rice and refried beans were standard fair. They don't offer charro or borracho or black beans. And the lack of any noticeable seasoning made for a very bland dinner. Service was very good. The food was served piping hot. Prices were reasonable. I just wish it had some flavor beyond cheese.

Margaritas are pretty good. The service can be absolutely chaotic with tons of table touches with multiple people. Like who's who? And STILL, missing basics like extra napkins or even pre-bussing the tables. Mind boggling. It's pretty clean and the dishes come out looking pretty ok though. I'll give them that. It is LOUD. I can handle busy restaurants just fine, but dang... they need to dial in the service to be more efficient considering there's a ton of workers. Decently easy location to access if you're on the far east end, but you definitely have to battle some traffic if you're west a bit. Theres really no avoiding it. Felipe's is open space, comfortable booths, and it looked like the floors were so clean you eat off them. Nina, our server, was patient, attentive, and seemed to be one step ahead of us. Chips and salsa were served, a thicker style chip and a mildly spicy salsa, served in a mini carafe. I was happy to see Felipe's has a lunch menu, Mon thru Saturday. My wife ordered the lunch portioned Los Cabo's special, shrimp, grilled onions and mushrooms in a cheese sauce served with black beans and rice. Well seasoned, very tasty. I passed on my usual fajitas and ventured into the realm of enchiladas. The full order came with 3 chicken enchiladas smothered in a mole sauce. The mole was rich and sweeter than most I've had, but not overpowering. And what other Mexican restaurant offers a side of cucumber salad? I love the way Felipe's plates their food. Elongated plates for enchiladas, square plates for other dishes. They have a beautiful presentation. There's a QR code on the table that offers a free serving of queso if you post a review on their site. The only disappointment was the queso was brought to the table cold.
