Had tickets to the haunted Halloween murder mystery dinner. Located at the Abbott House in Seguin,…read moreTX. About an hour and twenty minutes from Austin. The House itself gives a rustic but creepy vibe which played backdrop to the evening's festivities that took place in the open air dining area. Cool evening air, picnic lights that hung about, the mood was appropriate. Some guests even came decked out in their Halloween best. The evening's burger consisted of a few well placed cast members and all the guests participating as some supernatural character. You were given a folder that held your name, bio, and a small list of objectives you had to complete before/and after the murder. The menu, was light. In hindsight, significantly over priced for serving size. Appetizer was a butternut squash bisque soup. That was pretty good!!! Entree consisted of a braised beef risotto over mashed potatoes. Bland but acceptable. Meat was tender, a bit salty. Dessert was pumpkin cheese cake. That was phenomenal!! I had two of those . The mystery was very enjoyable. For sake of the integrity of the mystery itself I will not divulge details. But I encourage you to try it. Great for an intimate evening for two, or a group

Having wanted to marry at Disney ever since she was a child Castle Avalon was a dream come true with their ballroom an exact replica of Belle's ballroom in Beauty and the Beast. What made this experience even more magical was the Fairy God Mother/Wedding Planner Susan Brink Chauret! Every step of the process was clear and she was open to any questions that we had for her. She always returned our calls and was full of ideas and suggestions. She indeed was a Godmother! We loved the drive through the Hill Country to the Castle's twenty-two foot tall gatehouse off Highway 46. It's a romantic drive and so much more awaits you. Castle Avalon sits in the midst of lovely acreage. Not only is the beauty of the Castle in this dream like setting but the the grand ballroom is magical. Absolutely unacceptable experience. I scheduled an 11:30 AM…read moreappointment to tour the venue and discuss pricing for an employee event. My coworker and I drove an entire hour to get there, only to be left waiting with no communication. After arriving, we were told Rodney was "on his way." Thirty minutes passed--nothing. When I called, I was told we were in the wrong location. After correcting their mistake and going to the "right" place, Rodney still wasn't there. I finally got his number and texted him, explaining we had been waiting since our scheduled appointment time. When he called me, the conversation started with: "Remind me who you are...I don't have an 11:30 appointment...I guess I can help you even though I'm not there...what do you want?" Completely unprofessional, disorganized, and frankly disrespectful. At that point, it was obvious this business has no regard for clients' time or basic professionalism, so I ended the call and told him we were no longer interested. If this is how they handle something as simple as a scheduled tour, I can only imagine how chaotic and unreliable an actual event would be. It's honestly shocking that they are still in business. Total waste of time, gas, and effort. Avoid this place.
