My husband and I came to Temptation Resort to celebrate his birthday, relax, and make memories together. Instead, we experienced one of the most frightening experiences of our lives. While we were napping in bed, the ceiling above our bed suddenly collapsed onto us. I woke up to the sound of crashing drywall and instinctively threw my legs up to shield my face from the falling debris. Looking at the damage afterward, I can't stop thinking about how differently this could have ended if I hadn't reacted in that split second. Looking back, there were warning signs. From the day we checked in, our room had a persistent wet, mildew-like odor and excessive condensation. I remember mentioning how strange it smelled, but I convinced myself it was just the tropical humidity. The room was both excessively cold and damp. What has stayed with me most, though, is not just the collapse--it's how we were treated afterward. I expected compassion. I expected concern. I expected someone to recognize that waking up to a ceiling crashing down on sleeping guests is a traumatic experience. Instead, I felt like the seriousness of what happened was minimized. The initial response was a lateral room change and upgraded wristbands for premium liquor, as if that could somehow make us forget what had just happened. Only after we continued to express how unacceptable the situation was did the resort offer an upgraded suite, steaks, cabana, and a (2) 25-minute massage. Those gestures completely missed the point. This wasn't about luxury upgrades or complimentary amenities. It was about our safety. It was about acknowledging the fear we experienced and taking responsibility for a catastrophic event that should never happen in an occupied guest room. Instead we got "things like this happen". Huh? To make matters worse, the resort refused to provide ANY refund--not even for the day the ceiling collapsed--unless we signed documents releasing them from liability. We were expected to sign away our rights before we even knew whether we had injuries or what the long-term impact of this experience might be. We declined. The emotional impact didn't end that night. For the rest of our stay, I couldn't relax. I suffered from extreme anxiety the next day, that warranted a doctor visit. At this time, the matter had still not been rectified. We were expected to wait around for the GM to speak with us, he never did- we never even met him. The sense of peace and security that a vacation should provide was gone. Instead of enjoying my husband's birthday trip , I spent the remainder of our trip feeling anxious, on edge, and constantly replaying what had happened. No guest should leave vacation with this experience. The front desk manager denied my request to any incident reports or doctor reports that included information pertaining to this situation. She didn't appear to have any remorse, empathy, or compassion. I'm sharing this not because I want sympathy, but because people deserve to know what happened and how it was handled. I hope the resort takes this incident seriously, thoroughly investigates what caused it, and changes how it responds when guests experience a major safety event. The photos tell the story better than words ever could. I truly hope no one else ever has to wake up the way we did.

This is a AMAZING value all-inclusive resort…read more We arrived in the evening around 9:15pm, the check in process took about 40 minutes and we were able to hit the dinner buffet before it closed at 10:30pm. We got a ground level room with a deck facing the pool, it was clean and the mini fridge was stocked, it is restocked every 24hrs with water, snacks, beers and soda. The room did have a watery smell to it, but nothing that was a bother. The room's air conditioning worked great and there is a ceiling fan. There was shampoo and body wash in the shower. The shower head is adjustable so you are able to change the water pressure. The shower gets hot and stays hot. We used the gym all 6 days we were there, it has great equipment, 3 treadmills, 3 bikes, 3 ellipticals and weights. The only thing is the air conditioning doesn't work very well so be prepared to sweat! There were 3 restaurants on the property, Mexico Lindo, a seafood and an Italian restaurant. They all had amazing food, we ate at each one twice. You can also choose to eat at the buffet for dinner which doesn't need a reservation and there is a 24hr snack bar. The reason why I gave this resort 4 starts instead of 5 is the fact that you do have to be up at 6:45am if you want a reservation. However, when we were there, Mexico Lindo wasn't requiring a reservation. You also have to be up early if you want to reserve a spot at the pool or beach. Each guest receives one towel that you can exchange at the end of the day for a new towel or a towel card. If you lose your towel or towel card it is a $25 fee. There is a ferry right by the beach that you can take to Isla Mujeres which we did, it was $29USD per person which makes for a beautiful day trip. A lot of reviews say there is a gasoline smell at the beach, that was not the case. At times when the ferry left to Isla Mujeres it would linger for about 5 seconds then it'd be gone. It is a great beach. There is also free WiFi at this resort. The workers are AMAZING!! We had great service at the restaurants, bars, everywhere. They were all friendly and helpful. We never had an issue getting drinks at the bar and we went during Spring Break season.

Due to having a suite, we had butlers Romero and Isaías, and they were both AMAZING. They were extremely attentive, and whatever we needed was never an issue. If we asked for something, it was done quickly and without hesitation. You honestly couldn't ask for better service. We also had access to the Aqua Club, which was open from 7 AM-10 PM and offered premium liquor along with light snacks for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The waiters there--Daniel, Guillermo, and Eduardo--were great! They were even willing to make us our favorite shots that they had never heard of (blowjobs... Google it ), but they made them anyway! The lounge itself is super relaxing, with spectacular ocean views from the 5th floor. Now, onto the part we ALL care about the most: THE FOOD! There are several restaurants on the property to choose from, but our absolute favorite was Hidden Garden, which is Asian-inspired and run by Chef Mario. Everything we ordered was spectacular! Chef Mario even came out to our table, greeted us personally, and provided us with a menu curated by him--which I'm assuming was because it was my birthday... lol. They also have one paid restaurant called Carnivore, which is a steakhouse. Now, I am a self-proclaimed steakhouse snob, so I have to keep it real: for the price, it was mid. But for a resort steakhouse, it was good. The rest of the food throughout the resort was WAAYYYY better than expected--even the poolside grill and the food you can order directly to your cabana. Everything was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. The ribs they made at the poolside grill every day were FANTASTIC! The head of culinary at the resort, Mr. Germain, is definitely doing what needs to be done because the food was consistently impressive throughout the property. Now, the second-most important thing for most people: NIGHTLIFE. Personally, I came to relax, and the overall vibe of the resort definitely gives relaxation. However, they do have a nightclub called Egos, which stays open until 1 AM. I went once, but it wasn't really my music or my vibe. If you're looking for more of a nightlife scene, I would suggest heading into the city. BUTTTT... if you love a good pool party, make sure you hit the Moët Pool Party because BABYYYYYY... it was LIT! We booked a club-level oceanfront room, which included butler service. Our butler, Arturo, absolutely came through for us. He handled our restaurant and cabana reservations ahead of time and was instrumental in securing a late check-out on our final day. The dining at this all-inclusive is superb. For breakfast, Siete offers a decent buffet, and our waiter, Helvert, was incredibly kind and always took the time to chat with us. For dinner, DB was our top choice for elegant continental dining, complete with a live pianist. The manager, Susana, provided excellent service, the food was delicious, and the chef even came out to greet us. We also loved Hidden Gardens, a relaxed Asian-fusion spot with tasty food, impeccable service, and another welcome visit from the chef. During the sweltering day, the pool is the main draw. Lalo was always helpful in securing our requested cabana. They cost an extra $115 each time, but they are completely worth it to escape the intense sun. Our pool waitress, Marysol, befriended us and knew exactly what non-alcoholic drinks to bring us. My wife is a big coffee drinker, so we frequently stopped by the included Starbucks, where David the barista gave excellent service and loved chatting with me about World Cup soccer. Also, a big shoutout goes out to Lady and Daisy at the spa. They gave my wife and I heavenly massages. However, the absolute heart of the entire hotel is Marco, the extraordinary juicer at Siete! There are 5 daily f&b presentations daily. The first night the happy hour presentation was bbq ribs! Fantastic! I chased it with a top shelf mojito and watched a beautiful sunset from the lounge! My room had a straight on view of the Caribbean & I watched sunrise! The room had a king bed with a direct view of the flat screen tv. The bedding was oh, so soft! At night, they do a turn down service & the maid had folded & hung up my clothes! The bathroom has a double sink, a small stall shower with strong water pressure and a separate toilet. There is also a large tub. At the pool, service was also excellent. The loungers all have good cushions. The pool guys set you up with towels & continuously bring around cooling towels, sunscreen, water, cold snacks. I didn't go down on the beach because they were continuously cleaning the sargassum. I was super sad when time came to leave Sunday afternoon. The concierge team gave me a card and a small gift. So kind! I went back to the other hotel to discover they had no hot water since a day. I texted with the concierge at the Kempinski about returning & they offered to extend my previous rate for another 4 days! I could not repack and get an Uber back there fast enough! A Beautiful 8-Year Anniversary Celebration at Hotel Riu Palace Kukulkan!…read more On September 3, 2026, my hubby and I flew to Cancun, Mexico, to celebrate our 8-year wedding anniversary, and we stayed at Hotel Riu Palace Kukulkan in Cancun from September 3rd through September 6th. We booked an Elite Junior Suite Ocean Front View for two adults, all-inclusive, through a JetBlue Vacations package that we booked months in advance. Our package also included transportation from the airport to the hotel, which made everything so convenient. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed. The hotel lobby was beautiful, and during check-in we were welcomed with champagne. It immediately put us in vacation mode! Once we completed check-in, we received our key card for the Elite Floor and headed to our room. Our room was absolutely beautiful, and the oceanfront balcony view was breathtaking! Waking up in the morning and watching the ocean, and then seeing the sunset in the evening, was simply spectacular. We made sure to explore the property and enjoy everything the resort had to offer. We spent time at the beach, infinity pool, pool activities, Elite Club and pool restaurant, Pepe's Food, and of course enjoyed plenty of drinks. One of the highlights of our trip was our Tulum excursion, where we visited the Mayan ruins and learned about the history and culture. After the ruins, we enjoyed tequila tasting and then continued to a cenote, where we explored the beautiful natural water and hidden caves. This was an amazing experience and definitely something I would recommend doing while visiting Cancun! The resort also had several dining options, including Don Julio, the main buffet restaurant, Rossini, Krystal, the Steakhouse, the Cafeteria for cappuccino, and the Lobby Bar Salon. We enjoyed having so many choices throughout our stay. I also want to recognize the hotel staff. They were friendly, kind, respectful and always willing to help. Whether we needed directions, information about the resort, or simply wanted someone to take our picture, the staff was always ready to assist. I really appreciated how they would stop and make sure guests were having a wonderful experience. My only suggestion would be to add more adult entertainment in the evenings. There wasn't really a disco or dedicated dancing area, and I would have loved more live entertainment where adults could dance and enjoy the night. For me, the resort was almost too relaxing! I definitely needed a little more music and dancing. But overall, we had a wonderful anniversary experience! We relaxed, enjoyed the beautiful resort, spent time by the ocean and pool, explored Tulum, enjoyed great food and drinks, and celebrated eight years of marriage in a beautiful place. Would I come back? YES! Hotel Riu Palace Kukulkan is a beautiful resort with fantastic views, wonderful staff and plenty to enjoy. I don't remember exactly how many pools or restaurants there were but there was something for everyone. We enjoyed the food at Kulinarium the adults only place most of all. The Italian place was not great, so we stuck to the salad bar there. I thought the loungers built into the pool were such a nice touch! My favorite spot to chill, along with the hammock among the palm trees and the sun loungers beachside. Beautiful beach, beautiful resort. Ping pong table and sand volleyball court kept us so entertained and I appreciated the nightly shows and RIU parties we got to attend. The staff overall was amazing. I loved the little touches they left in the room for our special occasion. My husband had just one negative interaction with someone at one of the restaurants but they rectified quickly and immensely when management was notified. Ignoring the beach sea algae and stomach bugs we got, there were so many issues with our stay…read more Buffet food was dry and low quality, restaurants require reservations but were all full regardless, broken elevators, showers with damaged plumbing, drinks were all watered down (both regular and alcoholic, you can taste it and watch them pour water into the OJ, for example), they aggressively sell you excursions and addons at check in like a pirate ship outing, pool towels are constantly unavailable and waiting on being washed, the gift shop only had minimal medicines in case you get sick, the required wristband to wear have sharp edges and it's easy for you and your kids to cut each other while playing at the pool, the bedroom drawers aren't secured properly and can easily slide out and fall on your kids feet, etc. They're helpful with bringing drinks at the meals and things like the swim up bar at the pool are handy, the beach hammocks are nice, and they did a good job picking up our bags at check in, but there's still so many issues and so I don't plan on coming back.

( a birthday gift from his Nana) The best thing that about the resort was the coffee and me shop, and one restaurant that was RSVP only, that was still inclusive with the price of the room. I appreciate that excursion could be purchased on the venue. It's so unorganized when your purchases tour come to pick you up. We are informed to be in the lobby, there's so many people in the lobby, on different tours, that we were overlooked. Not only did our tour bus leave us, and we discovered within the SAME MINUTE, I'm talking seconds! They can not call them back to pick us up theirs no return or discounts, I had to pay another $120 for transportation ONLY to get to the park states over, otherwise I would have lost my money for two people. We manage to get there and rode our tour bus back to the resort afterwards. Mexico tours will definitely leave you at your hotel, jungle, or desert. And theirs no much phone reception. So have your ass outside on the curbs with a sign or your purchase records. I met a lady who always visit Mexico and was told that she always travel with her own fan. Like she brings a Carryon just for her fan only. This was a lesson learned. Service was friendly. They want to discord all your wristbands when you checking out. There was a cool night club on the venue that offered drinks as well. Overall I felt safe and irritated. I would selected a different resort on my next visit to Mexico.

And with billboards offering services directly to your room and a hospital system where you only go if you're sick. The "grey area" is a pretty loose term. The entire hotel is illuminated with L.E.D.'s. The space is immaculate. It was 1/4 mile from the room to the lobby. The ballrooms and convention spaces are like a stadium. (Indoors or outdoors). The public bus arrives every (2) minutes and are often full. It is approximately .50 US to go 30 miles downtown. Just looking at the creative ideas a child could write a book . "This ain't Tijuana". The malls and beaches are protected by federal soldiers and the streets have checkpoints every mile. They obtain your information and destination. If something is off a militia is on alert. In NOLA people go missing all the time. They get discovered weeks later. Would never happen in Mexico . A drunk guy might get out the box, but it is very controlled. These citizens are: smart, efficient, implemented, hard working, drive excellent, fast, diligent, and gracious. It's like walking through a museum. Being from a popular tourist town known for food, this place is VERY advanced. Instead of lounging and hiding these citizens WORK to pass the time. If you need anything just ask a bartender. "Tip and pay, you'll be OK!" LOOK at the photos!

Every single person that works at this property is out of this world! Kind, helpful and always going above and beyond to make things memorable! There's always a little bit of construction because they're renovating, so plan accordingly by calling with them to make sure the areas you want open, are open. The new speakeasy is super cute. We visited there one evening and have the best time and service! This isn't the same restaurant where you go to breakfast but at night is a Spanish tapas restaurant. Everything was fantastic but all the food on the property is really great! We especially loved to order lunch by the pool. All the cocktails are fantastic, even poolside! Rooms are standard JW with some of them recently updated with the others on their way to being updated. Yes, there is a sort of a musty smell in the air, but that's in most hotels. It's a very hard to keep those highly humid rooms from smelling a little musty. You just have to get over it and enjoy the time outside the room. Pools are super cute and the beach area is nice. There is an adult pool that is open during the day but wish it was open later! Lots of places in walking distance if you decide to venture out of the property but why would you need to! Easy drive from the airport and to the downtown or for departure to Isla Mujeres. We did not go to the island this time but last time we booked everything through the hotel and they made it super easy.
