My sister and I lived in Fieldbrook in the 60s and 70s. We always try to visit the little town whenever we can. It's really nice that the little market is reopened with a casual restaurant. The ladies who were working today were friendly and nice. My sister had a Caesar salad, my niece had the barbecue chicken salad and I had the BLT. We were all happy with our food and it was nice to visit the town again. We are told that they have karaoke on some nights and live music on others. It would be fun to go back for one of those events. read more

Fieldbrook Market and Eatery is less than 10 minutes from Highway 101 in the McKinleyville area. It is a great place to go for lunch or to grab a drink. FME is more than a market or a place to get a bite or a beer. It is a community center for the people that live in and around Fieldbrook. When we got there, we had a hard time finding a place to park. It seems like there was a party going on--we could hear lots of people having fun--behind the market in a huge tent. We later found out that after people get food from the eatery, they can take their food back to the tent and catch up with their friends. The eatery has a bar that you can sit at or take your food back to the large tent that I described earlier. You can watch the cooks prepare your food. I ordered a Ruben and asked for it to be an open face sandwich. What they did, to my surprise, was that they took each piece of bread and put corn beef, sauerkraut, and cheese on each piece of bread. It was really enough food for my hubby and myself--and yummy!!! He ordered a delicious cup of Tuscany soup and a cheeseburger - both very delicious. He had a red beer, and I had a Cherry cider. I was happy to see that they also have kombucha on tap!!! The market is a country market where you can buy basic things like kindling, toilet paper or primary groceries. A local man told me that they used to have the tallest redwoods in the world at Fieldbrook - over 400 feet tall. The walls of the market have some of the old saws that were used to cut the trees down in 1896. They were also games on the shelves for you to play with. The place was very eclectic. There were some leather goods for sale, as well as Amber beads. I wish we had had more time to really look at everything that was there. read more

Great atmosphere, great food, great community spot. Service was friendly, they take their time and everything tastes great.

Our family loves this place! So glad they're here and we will continue to support. Such a cute spot

Wonderful sandwiches. Great fresh food. Lovely outside seating. Great stop if you're driving and need a break.

Service was slow. They got salty about arriving with my service dog. We met some nice people there. read more

I was surprised to see the five star rating and then of course I had to try it. I'll start by Raving about the house made pickles that garnished my plate, they are spot on perfect pickle deliciousness! I had the Ruben and the corned beef was stellar. Just the right amount of 1000 dressing and whole grain Mustard. I could eat this everytime! My partner had a burger (what else is New? Lol) with blue cheese. Cooked great, lots of blue cheese and a very tasty bun. The tri-tip chili was meaty and yummy but maybe a bit bland. The service was very nice as well. We will 100% be back. read more

We found this spot on Yelp when looking for an early dinner during our road trip along the coast. We didn't realize that it was a bit off our main route but we kept driving and found ourselves outside what looked like a small neighborhood market. At first we weren't sure if we found the right place. When you walk inside you see an order counter and open kitchen area with a small market/convenience store shopping area and a couple tables. We decided to order two burgers and a beer. When we stepped outside we realized they had a really cute covered outdoor patio that was dog friendly! There was plenty of space for large groups and an outdoor projector playing something on the screen. The burgers were tasty and fresh. They came out pretty quick and it gave us the fuel we needed to get back on the road. I definitely recommend this cute place! read more

We were excited to try this place because of the really great reviews. We ordered the Tri-Tip sandwich, the veggie burger, and 4 of the Garden Goddess sandwiches. We were surprised that it took such a long time to get our food when the place was empty and they had 3 people working on making our food. My son enjoyed his veggie burger. It wasn't the best he's eaten but good. The tri-tip sandwich didn't have a lot of flavor and was disappointing. 2 of us loved the Garden sandwich and thought it tasted really fresh, and loved the toasted sourdough bread, and the other 2 took one bite and wouldn't eat the rest. They hated the Greek goddess sauce and thought it was nasty. Overall we would choose other places to eat next time we are in the area. read more

Very nice place to eat! Love the food and great service. Very nice location as well . Will go back for more.

This is a hidden gem. This place is a spacious store, bar and eatery. You are allowed to bring your dog inside or go around back to a covered area with picnic tables. Inside they offer beers on tap or you can get one from the refrigerated section. You can choose snacks from the shelves or you can order prepared food from behind the counter. This place is off the beaten path. It's a very cool, laid back place to go. read more

Unique and interesting place to enjoy music and food. Happy I made the drive to see what it was all about.

Give yourself a treat and have a tri tip sandwich. Friday evening entertainment is the best there too. Love this neighborhood place!

Great tuna sandwich, I think it's the best one I've ever eaten! The staff are always helpful and friendly!

Great employees, unbelievably good food- best veggie sandwich I've ever had! Awesome patio, great beer selections! Definitely a place to visit! read more

I love this place. The food, The atmosphere, the drinks, the staff. It makes me feel like time stood Still and the world is a little less crazy. Don't miss this place if you want some down home joy. Also dogs on leashes allowed and check hours. They stop making food an hour and 15 minutes before closing. read more

We wanted outdoor dining and the Fieldbrook market and eatery fit the bill perfectly. We sat under the tent out back with a cool breeze and fluffy white clouds moving behind picturesque evergreens. The setting was rustic with bark covering the ground. Picnic tables and rounders filled the area. There were also picnic table in the sun. This is an order, pay, and seat yourself kind of place and signs to bus your own dishes. The food was good. I got the quesadilla with beef. They used a 12" tortilla and were not skimpy on the cheese nor beef. We all shared a salad with the miso dressing. My table mates ordered the burger and (sorry) something else and had no complaints. read more

This is located in a small, unassuming local grocery store, so my expectations initially were not high, but wow, was I wrong! Their sandwiches are amazing and an awesome value. They have a very quaint back outdoor area where you can sit, but it was definitely a high point of our road trip. read more

The Fieldbrook market and eatery is more than just a small town market, it is a community hub. Yes, it's a convenience store with all of the basics one would expect to find - snacks, drinks, smokes, etc. This cool store also makes some of the best food around, along with a great back yard porch area and live music on the weekends - this place at times can be jumping with activity especially during the lunch hours. An unassuming front with a few parking places (several diagonal spaces to the left as you look at the building) it doesn't look like much. Upon entering the register/counter is immediately to your left, the inside is surprisingly quite open and large. To your right, the service deli counter and a small bar with a handful of seats (the taps are here) look to the chalkboard for the menu. The "order here" sign has two pads for made to order sandwiches and salads - just feel it out and turn it in. At the back are glass door chill cases loaded with pretty much everything imaginable to drink - all available in single units (you don't have to buy it by the six pack, etc.) so you can grab a cold one and sit out back and enjoy the day, afternoon, evening. This is a great community market, store, gathering place to enjoy really good fresh food, cold beverages and live music on the weekends. Well worth a stop and visit, and definitely a great place to relax in the back yard. 4.5 Stars - rounded up for the laid back cool place that it is. 00393 read more

This place was amazingly delicious, the best food I had all weekend while exploring the area. My husband and I were searching for sandwiches when this place popped up on yelp and we decided to try it. This is a grocery store/deli and restaurant with really awesome outdoor seating and even a volleyball net in the back! The woman who helped us out was super friendly, she explained how drinks work (you pick your own from the store, save your bottle til the end of your meal, and they scan it at the register when you pay for your food), she took our order and we went outside and found a table. The vibe is cool, like hanging out at a friend's BBQ. We ordered the grass fed burger with cheese and added avocado and then we created the biggest sandwich I've ever had in my life! Seriously this sandwich (turkey, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle on a French roll with mayo and mustard) was unexpectedly ginormous!! It was also super delicious and I ate half of it like a champion!! Lol The burger was also delicious, but the sandwich was the winner. We will definitely be back, next time sharing the sandwich! read more

We stayed at a nearby Air BnB and found this gem on Yelp. Even if you're not staying in Fieldbrook it's totally worth the detour. The menu is small, my items pictured plus a breakfast sandwich and a two egg breakfast. This must be why their gravy is the best gravy we've ever had. Time to focus in perfecting the recipe? Yes. Their sausage is local pasture raised pork, delicious! read more

Nice local Fieldbrook place. Good meeting place. Beer and eats and a small grocery store in the heart of F

Quite possibly the best sandwiches in Humboldt. From the tri tip sandwich with au jus to the corned beef sandwich. Lightly toasted bread, meat piled high and they are huge. You probably won't need a side. I think the only down side is the draft beer selection almost never changes but that's easily remedied by grabbing a single out of the beer fridge. A bit off the beaten path but well worth the trip. Cool vibe here. read more

We had the Tritip sandwich, which was extremely disappointing and overpriced. Bread was stale and over toasted. Meat had zero seasoning and was difficult to chew. Meat had large pieces of fat and was dry. Salad was underwhelming. Photos of fully stocked market shelves are deceiving. Many shelves were bare. Do not waste your money here. Funny, most of the reviews are five stars. That is a bit suspicious. read more

What a nice surprise! I was lamenting the lack of palatable/edible food near where my dad lives. And a friend who recently moved up to McKinleyville introduced me to this place. Tasty tasty burger! Odd when you walk in but don't be put off by the "different" way this place is run. It's good food. I even took my dad here for a burger. He is a typically light eater and specific in what appeals to him. He nearly finished an entire burger. I am super happy to take people here and spread the word! Friends had other things I. Addition to a burger and they were happy with a soup of the day and another type of sandwich. ( sorry I can't recall which). Feel good about patronizing this one. Nice people. Good food. read more

Ordered biscuits and gravy with grilled mushrooms. Amazing and excellent gravy. The biscuits home made, thick and crunchy. The 2 eggs and bacon with potatoes - perfectly poached eggs the way you want - and thick cut bacon not the thin fatty kind. Finally the breakfast burrito- huge - to be shared. a little bit more bacon would have been great but otherwise hearty. So glad we tried their breakfast, can't wait to try lunch/dinner with tri-tip sandwich or burrito bowl. Must come again. read more

I've been here a couple of times now and everything has been sooo good. Their grilled sandwiches are so perfectly crisp. The Reuben was the best I've ever had anywhere, good amount of kraut and wonderful creamy cheese. I could only eat half, but it reheated beautifully the next day. My husband's BLT was equally impressive, with lots of bacon and tomato. The smoked tuna was great...takes tuna salad to a whole new level! They also have a huge tented area out back that is very appealing. It is so worth the drive to Fieldbrook, even with the current price of gas! read more

Great food and a good variety of local beers. We've enjoyed the breakfast a number of times. It's perfect if you need a big breakfast burrito (aka hangover food - but good hangover food). Never disappoints! Good is great, the patio is relaxing and your bound to run into someone you know!

Just loved it! Amazingly fresh and healthy sandwiches and wraps made to order. Everyone there was so friendly, too, and obviously really care about their customers and business. I had a fabulous veggie wrap with Goddess spread. It was bursting with flavor, zestiness, and beautiful ingredients. My husband had a hamburger on the pretzel bun that he wouldn't stop raving about. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned, juicy, with gorgeous tomatoes and amazing homemade pickles. The food was beyond our expectations. The setting is really nice, too! Great outdoor eating area and plenty of tables. We sat at the bar. Oh and they had great beers on tap. We also did a little shopping to stock up on snacks for the drive. Very convenient! The desserts are all really tempting and homemade too. Go out of your way to pay them a visit! read more

As our busy day was winding down, I decided to once again look for a hidden gem in the Arcata area. Boy did I hit the jackpot! If you are looking for something right off the freeway, this is not for you. If you are up for a 5 mile, winding drive, surrounded by gorgeous greenery and trees, here you go! This charming market/cafe is loaded with charm and personality. As soon as we walked in, Ryan greeted us and made us feel right at home. He made two suggestions that seemed to call our names, the tri tip sandwich, and the avocado bacon burger. The tri tip melts in your mouth and is honestly big enough for two people to share. We later learned that it could be ordered with mushrooms on top, although it does perfectly fine on its own. The burger was almost flawless, with the exception of the bacon being a little too crispy for my liking. No points deducted for that, it was really no big deal. We had a couple of the local brews to was down our dinner, and finished off the meal with chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven. Overall, this place is worth every bit of the extra drive! Get in your car, enjoy the scenery and head on over there!!! You won't be disappointed. read more

Perfect spot to grab lunch. Best reuben sandwiches ever. If you happen to show up on a day when they are serving clam chowder with their biscuit, get it! Great beer selection. You can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches at the Fieldbrook Market. The BLT is the best I've ever had, the chipotle mayo takes it to the next level. My husband usually goes for the tri-tip or hot corn beef sandwich, both are fantastic. The build your own salads are huge with lots and lots of topping choices. I've brought picky relatives here before and they wanted to go back for every meal. There's also lots of snacks to grab off the shelves if your looking to just munch while sipping a cold one. Sad to have a bad experience here, it's about the only eatery to go to outside of the fog belt in Humboldt Bay with good Cov protocols and outdoor seating. The terrible and loud music was inappropriate for dining and eventually drove us away. We waited a nearly unbearable 40 minutes and finally asked the nice server for our sandwiches to go, & took them to the Mad River, sat in the sand & enjoyed our conversation there. read more
