This place is truly a hidden gem within the Evansville community. I saw that it was rated as a 3/5 and couldn't handle that. So, here I am. Writing a review. I give it a 4 only because of the price of drinks. Overall, it's a great atmosphere with a pleasing aesthetic. The drinks were well made and well balanced. I appreciate that when I'm here it feels like a major city speakeasy.

The menu tonight was predetermined with great options. Service was a little slow tonight, but that is to be expected when the entire restaurant is at capacity with reservations. My husband and I loved the appetizers. It was a sample of shrimp cocktail, spinach dip with pita bread, and sriracha honey bacon brussel sprouts. I ordered the garden salad for my next course while my husband chose the broccoli mushroom chowder. We each enjoyed our choice. For the main course I had the marinated grilled chicken with creamy spinach and artichoke, and my husband had the 16 ounce bone in ribeye. Both main dishes came with a twice baked potato and roasted vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, green beans, bell pepper). My chicken was slightly overcooked, but it wasn't too noticeable with the creamy topping. My husband's steak was cooked to perfection. We both enjoyed the sides. We got dessert to go as we were so full by that point. I chose the carrot cake and he got the cheesecake. Our son was very happy we decided to bring the desserts home so he could also try them. Both were delicious, but the carrot cake was the standout. We look forward to returning to have their regular menu.

We stumbled across this restaurant on our trip to Evansville to visit the LST, and the Cross Eyed…read moreCricket was nearby. Trusting their website advice to overlook the appearance of their restaurant, which is located in an older house in a more industrial area, we decided to have dinner in a non traditional restaurant, and we were very glad that we did. The service was excellent, so friendly and efficient that we could have been in a 5 star restaurant. But you wouldn't find food that good in most fancy restaurants. We started with a plate of fried green tomatoes, and while no one is ever going to fix them as well as Daddy did in his iron skillet, they provided a dip to join them that was quite good... certainly, not one that Daddy ever thought of! Auntie had the pulled pork dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy & apple sauce. She ordered the appetizer brussell sprouts, and they were amazing! Hubby went with one of his favorite meals: fried catfish; yes, he almost inhaled it! As always, his German fried potatoes were great, and what can you really say about cottage cheese? It was there, and he ate it I went for the kubuki steak with fried cabbage & onions & mushrooms. The fried rice was delicious, but the ribeye took "delicious" to a whole new level! Oh! My goodness! It practically melted in my mouth! And the cabbage!! Wonderful! The "50's" down-home furnishings were likely family hand-me-downs & yard-sale finds, not particularly pretty but serviceable and authentic. Everything was very clean, even the too-small restroom, which reminded me of the first one my grandmother ever had in her house. Again, it was clean, but there was a leak on the restroom floor, something that can easily be repaired. If you are looking for upscale decor, don't come here. But if you want terrific food, friendly service, and a delightful experience, be sure to visit the Cross Eyed Cricket; it's wonderful! I understand there's a sister Cross Eyed Cricket in a three-story building right in the middle of the charming downtown. Their food might be almost as good as we had, but I think the lost atmosphere will detract from the visit. It's your call!

The staff was friendly and attentive without hovering, exactly the kind of service that lets you enjoy your food and your thoughts. The fries deserve a paragraph of their own: golden, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right. If fries were a personality, these would be the life of the party. Order them and don't share (or do share, I won't tell). The burger, unfortunately, was the more muted cousin at that party. It wasn't bad, cooked fine and presented nicely, but it was a bit bland and could use bolder seasoning or a punchier sauce. Nothing a little extra salt, a house sauce, or asking for an off-menu tweak couldn't fix. If you go, consider asking for extra seasoning or trying one of the other handhelds on the menu. Atmosphere is upscale-casual and relaxed, great for a solo meal, a date, or a calm pre-show dinner. Prices felt reasonable for the setting and portions. Bottom line: come for the service and fries, stay hopeful about the burger (it has potential). I'll be back, mainly for the fries and the friendly staff.

When seated next to the hostess stand, the music was so loud, i honestly could not hear anyone speak at my table. I asked multiple times to be turned down. I suppose the staff could not hear me. The mimosas were so warm, and if any alcohol in them, I would be stunned. I asked for a refill on mimosas for my son and I. The waitress set about 5 dirty dishes next to my left arm she had just cleared from another guests table. She went and got my son a mimosa but not me. She waited on other tables before finally returning to pick up the dirty dishes she laid beside me on our table from another guests table. I was asked if I wanted a refill on coffee, which was nearly completely empty and said yes, I am so thirsty, waiting for a mimosa, she topped off my husbands coffee which was nearly full but never gave me a drop. By this time, so many other things had gone wrong, my son and I were just laughing about the continued comedy of errors. My sons fiancé got called into surgery and arrived late and a drink was spilled making room for her when stacking all the dirty dishes. We all handed him our napkins to clean up the spill but not enough. My husband, went to ask someone but was given a white towel and told he could clean up the mess. And, my son paid $300 with a tip for this service and I'm far from done. I will never ask him to take me anywhere again after this. $300 is ridiculous for the service we were given. I have not even told you how horrible the food was. I can't say anything good about anything we tried. The salmon was so fishy, the chicken was like rubber, the turkey was so dry it was inedible, the sirloin was so tough my dogs canines I don't think could have chewed it. The mashed potatoes tasted like a boiled potato mashed with no butter no milk no nothing. I could continue but, I'm sure this is absolutely a waste of my time. And, the desserts, you advertised chocolate covered strawberries, pastries, etc and I seen them when I arrived but when we went back for dessert, it was gone. A couple of brownies, pecan pie. It was never replenished. Mother's Day is supposed to be a good day for moms. I felt horrible. Asking my son to bring me to this brunch that cost him $300 and it was such a bad experience. I'm sure it will be my last. I still feel Bad about it. I truly think you should go out of the brunch buffet business. It was just that bad.

We ordered the queso fries which came with two cups of ranch. (Very appreciated as ranch lovers.) The fries were extremely fresh and tasted great! The other sides we tried were the Caesar and house side salads and a loaded baked potato, also very tasty! We took home the fried apple pie dessert and that did not disappoint either.
