I just read these reviews and am in shock that anyone who has been to see Dr. Lara would post such bad reviews, but then as I read along I notice it is mostly people griping about how the chairs are inexpensive and his wife owns the pharmacy, and there's a lot of paperwork...so let me just say this... I was referred to Dr. Lara by a good friend who had seen him for years. I have now been a patient myself for three to four years. I too have referred many people and brought family members and my children to Dr. Lara. His office may not be "plush" but I came from a plush office where the Dr. could care less about his patients and loved their money. I find it laughable that someone would see BLOOD in chairs and not say something or walk out immediately! And although the chairs are no longer plastic, you don't have to wait in them for HOURS to see the Dr. (I will take 5 minutes in a plastic chair over a cushy chair for 60 minutes any day)! On my first day, yes I had a stack of paperwork to fill out, but no more than any other office (that's pretty standard right?). In that stack of papers was a DISCLOSURE to patients that his wife owned the pharmacy and he was informing the patient that they have a choice to go wherever they want. Personally I like the fact that he has this relationship with the pharmacy because I never have to wait if there's an issue with insurance paying for a certain drug, etc. and if there are any questions there's an immediate response. I am not over medicated from a dr. Pushing pharmaceuticals on me and have been given SAMPLES on occasion too! My point here is that I was informed, as was the person complaining about it in a review. Dr. Lara is professional, knowledgeable, and cares about the patient. When I have had to call after hours or on a weekend I got an immediate response with no attitude. I've been sick, I was made well. I've been scared, and I was calmed. I have been confused and was given answers. I don't need anything else from a healthcare provider...do you? read more

I have written seven reviews in the past regarding my care from Dr. Lara and since then I have a few things to add. When I started seeing Dr. Lara a few years ago he gave me the exact medication that I needed during the middle of our treatment. I decided to see a psychiatrist to see if they would give me any other information when I realize that I wanted to go back to Dr. Lara he kept all of my medication's the same except my anxiety medication he cut in half which until today I am still having major anxiety from and this has been about two years. I was perfect now that I think about it with the medication that I was given from Dr. Laura but now sadly I'm left in limbo. This is not necessarily a bad review, but I definitely need to reach out to the California Department of Health to see what I can do. read more

Great doctor terrific staff I feel comfortable with them and I trust them, I really can't say that about every doctor I've had. They will work with your schedule for your appointments if you need to be referred to a specialist you are given multiple options. They work with your comfort. When I need go in for an appointment it's a reasonable wait time you're not there waiting with 25 other people that they scheduled within the same half hour being stuck all day. All well know with so many other doctors. The parking is reasonable, does not raise your blood pressure looking for a spot. I'm very grateful for their services. read more

Sometimes people like to complain about sitting in a waiting room....we have never wanted more than a few minutes, and I have news for all, good doctors often have a short wait time. Nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Lara's medical clinic. I've been going here for (5+) years! I've never experienced one bad visit. The wonderful ladies at the front desk are always super nice and helpful with making appointments or any questions about insurance. Every visit is so smooth, to the point and fast... Dr. Lara is the best, I always am comfortable around him he's got a very chill demeanor overall (which can definitely make or break a visit to the doctor) I always used to get anxiety about going to the doctor when I was younger, so much so that I wouldn't even go to the appointment... I just never realized that I hadn't found the perfect fit! Once we figured out a solution and treatment plan for me, I've been in such a better place!! read more

This Dr. is the rudest most uncaring Dr I have ever encountered. the people on here that leave good reviews do it just so he can keep prescribing their narcotics. All he cares about is if hes getting paid or not he is a lame excuse for a Dr. Stay away from here unless you want to get told you are obese and all your health problems are due to you being obese that is all he says to his patients. read more

I recently had a check up & had to get some blood work done at this clinic. Everything went great & the staff was very helpful. Dr. Lara is knowledgeable & caring. The clinic is clean & very family friendly. The wait time wasn't long at all either. I will continue to use this clinic & Dr. Lara. Dr. Lara is a phenomenal primary care physician. I have been bringing my clients with developmental disabilities to Dr. Lara for the last 10+ years. I even come as far as Woodland Hills! His background in behavioral health falls right in line with our industry so that's a major plus. Not only is he patient but he's thorough with everyone he sees. Firstly...i feel that whenever ive gone to see Dr. Lara, I was rushed to explain my symptoms and was rushed onto the other side to pick up my meds. I feel like I was a nuisance, almost as if I was wasting his time. Which struck me as odd because hes gotten some pretty good reviews on here minus a few. I discredited the bad reviews and wanted to see for myself if these were true or not. I dont have any gripes with his office, its not fancy (who cares). But i do, however, think the girls who work at the front desk are EXTREMELY rude. Im not one to complain about this, but any and everytime I called in or walked in, theyve treated me like I was a pain in their asses. Maybe I caught them on the wrong days and they just so happened to have had a bad day that day or something, but I did not feel welcome and comfortable at all. And when they got me into a room, i had to wait like 20 or 30 min before the doctor came in, and rushed me out the room as soon as he could. Lastly, the last time i had gone in, i picked up my meds from the pharmacy next door. Waited 15 min for my meds, which wasnt a problem, what was a problem though, was that when i got home and opened up the pill bottles, the inside part of the cap was completely dirty. Covered in lint and some other crap, i had to wash it off when i got home. I didnt take my meds...just threw them away. Hopefully things change! :/ read more

I have gone to see Dr. Lara twice now on an emergency basis. The first time, I was going to have surgery the next day and I needed someone to run my "labs" to make sure I was fit for surgery. His clinic faxed over the results to my surgeon THE SAME DAY causing no delays to my emergency surgery. In addition to that, my insurance covered the ENTIRE expense. The second time, I woke myself (and my husband) up to throbbing pain in my face (at 2AM). I assumed it was a pimple, however, after Dr. Lara examined it and ran some tests, it was in fact, a sinus infection that took root in my lip and I was completely unaware until he correctly diagnosed me, prescribed me the appropriate medication, and I was able to smile again (without pain). I would NOT hesitate to bring anyone I know to Dr. Lara. I have even changed the primary dr. On my insurance to Dr. Lara. What's even more, when I required antibiotics, his wife's pharmacy, (conveniently next door) filled my prescription within 5 minutes while I was next door. read more
