Had a violin picked out, they said they would hold it till end of week, ended up buying it Monday, they email said they sold it in store earlier Monday (2 days later) after email confirming I got it. No call when they released hold 5 days early, was still on website when I purchased it. Will never do business with them again, they are obviously very disorganized and not honest. read more

Two times, what they sent me had some issues so I had to contact them to get it resolved. They were good about responding via email and sending out replacements. All I can say is, wow! My violin needed a new bridge and an adjustment of the fingerboard. I dropped it off on a Monday before 12:15 and they called me the very next day before 10am to say it was ready, I was expecting it to take until Friday. It was time for me to part with a violin and case that I've had since I was a kid. I was moving states and had no need to bring it with me. I brought it in to the fiddler shop because I wanted to donate it and they were super friendly and willing to take the donation from me. They even introduced me to the person who would be using it to refurbish it and take it down to Jamaica to teach children music appreciation. After deciding to return to playing violin after a 33 year lapse, I was referred to Fiddlershop by my new teacher. First let's talk about their violins. The have two main lines, the Fiddlerman and the Holstein. The Fiddlerman line goes from beginner to advanced intermediate playing. The Holstein line starts to copy famous violins throughout history and of course, the price starts to increase with quality. They do also carry violins from other makers but the in house quality is really great value for the price. The entire staff especially Charlie was friendly, knowledgable and extremely patient answering all my questions and playing the different models for me to hear the difference. Even the owner Pierre, came out to help me. I went home with two violins to demo and two weeks later came back to purchase one. Upon arrival, I was again warmly greeted by the staff and again Charlie answered my questions to make sure I was walking out with the right choice for me. Michael ( who makes most of the YouTube videos for the company) also came out to help us and spent almost two hours with me to narrow down my final choice so I can buy my new violin with 100% confidence. He gave me a tour of the entire facility, showed me where they make their videos and introduced my to the staff. What business does that??? In an age where customer service is preached but seldom performed, Fiddlershop has recreated the experience from the ground up. This is a company that stands behind their products regardless if you buy online or in person from their South Florida store. They listened carefully and patiently to the reasons for the visit, I had several much needed adjustments to make to a new DZ Strad 509 that I did not purchase from them. had a minor emergency yesterday when the plug on one of my favorite bows popped out at the tip. Spoke to Ryan at Fiddleshop, who told me to come right on over and they'll take care of it. As soon as I walked in, Ryan greeted me at the door, took the bow to their bowmaker, and 15 minutes later I had my bow back beautifully repaired and ready to play! Excellent service. You really can't order violin online. We opt for going in store and tired 3 of the violin then pick a better one and try again for next week. We ended up didn't buy from them but they are good in service. We felt like we meet a friend. Compare to other violin with similar quality (student violin, not master ones) it is around $150-200 cheaper than in California. I wish I spend more time picking with all different price range in Florida. We end up buying a violin box 4.5lbs. Price is not cheap, but it was light. read more

I had previous email contact with the Fiddlershop and it was always positive and helpful. An unexpected need to visit them in person arose, though. I brought my Prakticello on vacation with me since I needed to keep up with my practice but broke a string. I drove North and bypassed the string shops in Miami in order to visit these guys. Of course they had the strings I needed and strung up my instrument nicely. But most of all, I was impressed with the kindness and professionalism of all of the staff. I'm super disappointed with my Tower Strings Midnight Edition Violin. It arrived today in a water stained cardboard box with puncture holes in it. I opened up the box to the violin case that had two white mold stains on it. The violin wasn't in much better shape. The varnish around the F Holes was missing and sloppily hand painted on to look like nothing was wrong with it. The F Holes also have chips in them with missing wood. When I tried to take the bow out, several of the horse hairs were wrapped around the clip to secure it into the case. It all looks like garbage, and I'm sorry I bought it. read more

Fiddlershop looks really good online, but they don't deliver on their product guarantee or customer service. I bought a three star bow that had a nut that was slipping when turned (so I couldn't tighten or loosen the bow without it popping). I was disappointed, given one of Fiddlershop's guarantees is that they personally inspect the things they sell. If anyone had tried to tighten this bow, they would have noticed it had issues. I had to email twice to get a response, and in their response, they told me it was probably just wet varnish that got into the mechanism when it was made. They recommended that I take my new bow to my local violin shop and see if lubricant or constant turning would work the problem out. It seemed a ridiculous response, given if there was a local violin shop, they'd likely charge me to repair someone else's bow. When I called for other options, I was told the same thing - drive it to a violin repair shop and see if they can make it work. I tried posting a review of the bow on the Fiddlershop website, but guess what - although I submitted the review, they never posted it. Now it makes sense that almost all their products have such high reviews. They don't post the reviews that aren't good. Not at all the experience they advertise. read more

Buying an instrument online was a huge mistake. Not only did it take four weeks for it to get finally get to me but also the instrument came in worse for wear shape. I decided to take it to local luthiers and get a proper set up which cost more money out of my own pocket. Buy locally, I will never make this mistake again. I ordered an apprentice violin. The first one that came wasn't varnished in some spots, and left black smudges on my fingers after holding the fingerboard. I sent it back and wasn't charged shipping. They sent me a new one. I played it for less than a week before the bridge fell completely off, right in the middle of my virtual lesson. They said it should be easy to fix myself or take to a luthier, and that I would have to pay shipping if I sent it back. This didn't sit well with me, as it was a new violin. Eventually they let me send it back without paying extra shipping. That's why I decided to give the company 3 stars, because while it didn't work out in the beginning, they did make amends. I ended up going with another violin company, and have had the violin for two months with no varnish/smudging/bridge issues. I don't know if I just got bad luck with the two Fiddlerman violins, since plenty of other people seem happy with the product. read more

I called them up right away, and some rude, asshole kept picking up the phone telling me it's not their problem what I receive and that they refuse to give me a refund without charging me a restocking fee. A perfect online experience! I ordered a violin bow online from the Fiddler Shop. To start, the bow was highly rated and reviewed on Amazon but selling for a much better price at the Fiddler Shop. I ordered in the evening and promptly the next day received a confirmation that my order was processed and shipped. I live in Oregon and ordered on the 1st and received it today, the 5th. It was packaged very well to ensure it arrived without damage. Tracking info was promptly available in my email confirmation so I could track easily. Inside was the invoice and a nice courtesy note describing how to properly set the bow up (rosin, tightening etc) as well as a nice dust cloth imprinted with the Fiddler Shop logo! The bow itself is exactly as described and the custom selection I made for the frog design was as it should be. VERY impressed with this place as an online merchant and would DEFINITELY order again.
