We came here after having been turned away by an Indonesian restaurant that was "full for the night". We are so glad that fate brought us here instead of that Indonesian restaurant!! What were we even thinking anyway -- forget the Indonesian food, get the local specialities!! Ordered the schnitzel as well as the meatballs and both were executed perfectly. Schnitzel was hot and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside -- not overly salty either. Meatballs were juicy and packed with flavor from the minced onions that they had mixed in. The beer (we ordered a Pilsner) was the best that we had tried in all of the Berlin and Dresden restaurants that we visited. I believe it is from some small private brewery affiliated with the restaurant somehow. Whatever they are doing, they are doing it right, so definitely order the house beer. Super cozy seating (you'll probably be sharing a table with other guests) and packed all night long but amazing vibes and casual comfort food. Would come back if I ever visit Berlin again!

C. had a vegetarian scramble with tomatoes and mushrooms, mine came also with ham. Perfect ratio of egg to other ingredients, perfect consistency. We both got a portion of mixed salad with a very tasty dressing, a couple of slices of a mild cheese and mixed fruit. As I had ordered the egg breakfast with meat, mine also came with the most delicious Geräucherter Schinken (similar to jambon cru). The order came with a basket of various types of brötchen with butter, jam and honey. We both ordered a cappuccino, made just as it should be. The gentleman who served us may be the owner, I don't know. He spoke limited English but was very friendly, offered to take our picture, and suggested an inexpensive alternative to taking a Hop On-Hop Off tour, just using public transportation and a 7 euro day pass. I believe our breakfast came to about 17 euros all together. One of the most delicious breakfasts I've had in quite a while. We paid for our meal with cash. They might take cards, but many, many places in Berlin do not. Keep that in mind while enjoying this spectacular city.

As I was eating, there were more and more people trying to get in, so try to come early if you don't want to wait in line. Most people would have ordered the baked pork knuckle, but I wanted to try to boil pork knuckle as I've been eating too much friend and baked food lately. The portion is huge!! I couldn't even finish half of it. This is more like a sharing portion to me. The pork knuckle is so tender that it just melts in your mouth. The potatoes are fresh and cook just right! For all of you who wants to try local food, you MUST come!! The price is fair, food are locals and the atmosphere are just perfect.

Will definitely come back when I make it back to Berlin again!

I had pinned this place as a go to because the food on his show looked AMAZING. My friend and I came here after exploring around Alexanderplatz and the Christmas markets. The subways in Berlin are pretty easy to navigate so it was a quick 10 minute subway ride from Alexanderplatz' Christmas market. The food (10/10) - I got the rindergoulasch (with pickled cabbage and potato dumplings), the goulash was pretty tender and cooked really well. I also really liked the potato dumplings because they almost had a gelatinous texture so it felt like I was eating a mochi, so chewy and so yummy! The potatoes also soak up the sauce well. I like how nicely pickled the cabbage was as well. It was the perfect for the cold Berlin winter. The drink was good too, I got basically a hot toddy which is just heated liquor with hot water. If you like whiskey based drinks I think this could be good but it's definitely on the less sweet side. Check this place out, food is great!
