I purchased a policy with Fetch Pet Insurance for my Pomeranian puppy, Baby Bear, expecting coverage for unexpected medical expenses. Unfortunately, my experience with the claims process has been disappointing. My claim for retained deciduous teeth and an undescended testicle surgery was denied based on findings documented during a routine wellness examination when my puppy was only five months old. At that visit, the veterinarian diagnosed Baby Bear as a healthy, normal puppy. The records specifically state "Appears normal" and "Healthy animal." The veterinarian noted retained baby teeth and one undescended testicle, but also advised waiting until the puppy was at least one year old to allow time for the testicle to descend naturally. In my opinion, developmental findings observed in a five-month-old puppy should not automatically be treated the same as a confirmed permanent medical condition. Retained baby teeth and delayed testicular descent are commonly monitored in young puppies, and my veterinarian did not recommend immediate surgery or diagnose a permanent condition at that time. Despite this, Fetch classified these findings as pre-existing conditions and denied coverage for the surgery. I am currently appealing the decision and hope Fetch will reconsider after reviewing the complete veterinary records. Pet owners should carefully review Fetch's policy language regarding pre-existing conditions and understand how routine findings during a puppy's first examination may affect future claims. read more

For Anyone Considering Fetch and Everyone Leaving 5 Star Reviews Dogs are amazing, and bringing one into your life is pure joy. Wanting to protect them with insurance makes total sense. If you are currently enjoying Fetch's low starter premiums, it is important to understand exactly how this works before you commit long term. Fetch's pricing model relies on locking you in early & then raising rates once your pet has a medical history. My dog, Gabi, is a 4 year old mini Goldendoodle. Had her birthday Nov 2025. Here is what Fetch charged me; 2022 $432; 2023 $640 which is a 48% increase conveniently right after puppyhood ended; 2024 $653 which is a 2% increase; 2025 $784 which is a 20% increase. Those increases were tolerable. What happened next is not. Fetch increased my 2026 premium from $784 to $2,074 per year. That is a 164.5% increase in one year. Thats with me even removing the wellness plan! This is NOT a one time adjustment. This resets the policy at a dramatically higher baseline so that every future increase compounds from an already inflated number. This has nothing to do with my veterinarian raising prices or so called increases in vet costs in my area. My vet has not raised rates in years. Fetch also points to age and claims history. Over the span of 4 years, she had knee injuries from a single accident, some abnormal bloodwork, & very minor issues like a rash & a brief belly upset, all of which were treated & 100% resolved. Both knees were surgically repaired, are stable, & she has no ongoing issues. This is not a chronic condition. The increase happened for one reason. Fetch knows I cannot leave without consequences. Fetch, like all other pet insurance companies, does not cover pre existing conditions. Once your pet has any serious injury or illness, switching providers means those conditions will not be covered elsewhere. Fetch relies on this. They keep premiums low early to attract customers, then dramatically raise rates after claims because they know you are effectively stuck. That is the manipulation. Calling a 164.5% increase market pressure is dishonest. This is not inflation. This is not veterinary cost increases. This is a calculated strategy that exploits pre existing condition exclusions. If you are considering Fetch, understand this before you sign up. The low entry price is temporary. If your pet ever needs real care, your premiums can and will skyrocket. Get Fetch. Smile big when you get a reimbursement. Just understand that you will pay every single penny back once they decide to raise your premiums the way they did mine. They WILL hold your claims history against you. When they do, you can come back here, like this post, & wish you listened to me. After doing some research, I discovered that pet insurance companies often trap you once you join because you cannot switch to a different company if your dog has preexisting issues. Overall satisfied with the coverage, but when it was up for renewal, I thought to check for a new quote and play a little more with the coverage options. A policy similar to mine with a deductible $200 less than my current one, and a whole 5K extra coverage was available for only $55 more a year. I called in to have it changed to that, but apparently you can't up it once you "use" it, only downgrade. I wish they made this CLEARER when initially signing up, but also they seem to forget what they are FIRST... an insurance company. the app is full of bloatware and ads to their partners. I was really disappointed with my renewal experience with Fetch. My dog's premium went from $77/month to $156/month, a 103%!! increase, even though he's only 4 years old and I made just one claim last year. I understand premiums can increase over time, but more than doubling the price feels unreasonable. I contacted customer service hoping there would be some flexibility, but the only option offered was to significantly reduce my coverage (higher deductible, lower reimbursement, and lower coverage limits) to bring the premium down to $117/month. That isn't really a solution, it's paying less because you're getting much less coverage. I had been happy with Fetch until renewal, but this experience has seriously changed my opinion. A 103% increase for a loyal customer with very limited claims makes it difficult to recommend. read more

No claims other than routine stuff and when I tried to claim a vet visit everytime they ask for the full vet history (which I sent the last time!). This company is a scam. they increase the premium every year by 4-5X inflation. This is called "premium walking" whereby current loyal customers get soaked while new customers get bait and switch deals. This is actually illegal for car and house insurance, but the pet insurance industry has escaped regulation. The "burn and churn" data driven strategy actually yields Fetch increased revenue. The only way to fight back is to pay attention (they count on you not to be watching), go obline and get another quote. while talking to them I got a new quote from aspc for half the cost with a lower deductible and higher coverage. If you're thinking of using Fetch Pet Insurance, don't. I've been with Fetch for nearly two years and recently decided to cancel my policy, which was set to renew on Sunday, 1/11/26. I attempted to cancel on Saturday, 1/10/26, the day before my card was to be charged. But because Fetch doesn't have their phone lines open on weekends, I was forced to use their chat to try to cancel my policy. After being told several times by a chatbot that I needed to call in to cancel my policy, I finally found a way to connect with a human. As expected, the human told me I couldn't cancel my policy via chat and that I needed to call in to do so. I then emailed the support team to attempt to cancel and was told the same thing: I needed to call in to cancel my policy. I was then charged $93.82 the next day. Annoying, but I figured that because I had created a paper trail of wanting to cancel BEFORE my renewal date that I could just call in on Monday, speak to a human, explain my situation, and get Sunday's charges reversed. I was wrong. After over 20 minutes on the phone with "support," I was told that Fetch was unwilling to reverse my charges and retroactively cancel my policy because their terms of service state that all cancellations must take place over the phone (even though I had attempted several times the day before my renewal date to cancel my policy). If Fetch is going to force people to cancel over the phone, they need to be available by phone 7 days a week. Yes, I understand that I was bound to the ToS I agreed to when signing on with Fetch, but I figured the company would be willing to work with me since I'd requested cancellation before my renewal date. I was wrong. Fetch is a predatory company that enacts predatory practices. If you're reading this, know that Fetch's main goal is to extract every single dollar from you that it can. They intentionally make it impossible to cancel policies on weekends, and are unwilling to retroactively cancel policies and refund customers even if they'd submitted a request before their renewal date. My advice after two years with Fetch is simple: Go find another pet insurance company. I'm going with Progressive. read more
