Needing a change, I headed for Foyer Mon Vietnam, up a small street close to a pretty happening area of the latin quarter. The place is cozy and welcoming, clean, with plants, warm lighting, and reasonably sized and spaced tables (indoor dining only). The service was super friendly and fast. But best of all the food was so FRESH and DELICIOUS. I walked out with a spring in my step. Tomorrow I will eat a kilo of cheese again, but for now I am light and free! We had crab & shrimp rolls (fried so crispy but not oily at all, with tasty sauce that was tangy, light, and perfect without being goopy/thick, with accompanying lettuce and mint leaves, ordered a 2nd round it was so good), papaya salad (crisp fresh vegetables, fresh shrimp, great light dressing, no overwhelming garlic), lemongrass chicken (good quality white meat chicken, nice variety of colorful vegetables in various shapes that aren't just boring chunks, and just the right amount of spiciness), and white rice to balance it out. I ordered the vegetarian grilled dumplings and vegetarian soup noodles with a spicy level of 3. It was a cold day in Paris, so I was excited for some hot spicy noodles. The dumplings came pretty quickly within 5-7 minutes. They were coating with soy sauce, chili oil and green onions. Absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. I devoured them in minutes, because I was starving. The noodles did take a little while longer to come out, but it gave me a break after my dumplings. They don't skimp out on the portions here at all! This was a giant bowl of soup noodles. The first bite was absolutely mind blowing. The broth was so full of flavor and spice without overdoing it. I devoured almost the entire bowl, because I was about to explode towards the end. I will definitely be back and I cannot wait. The total for both of these were 18 euros and that is a great price for the quality and quantity of this food.

For the soups, we got level 6 and 7 respectively (out of 8). Lovely amounts of ground peanut in all the soups. The food wasn't very spicy. To us, it barely registered. I would say it's about a 3/10 for me spice wise and my companion was in a similar mindset. Flushing, NY Sichuan level spice is intense and is the best Sichuan food outside China that I've found. The bigger issue was that the food was only room temperature to warm. The dumplings were at lukewarm and they had good flavour. However, dumplings that are boiled or steamed or fried need to be piping hot. These seemed like they were cooked about 10 minutes earlier and cooked down significantly. The soups also were not enough. Definitely warmer than the dumplings, but any hot soup should be hot enough that you need to blow off the excess heat. In addition, the sour soup base from the pickled vegetables was tasty, but needed more actual hot temperatures to do better. Cold and sour is not a good combo. However, I did detect some Sichuan peppercorn and the thick noodles in the Dan Dan noodle soup was excellent. Perfect thickness and chew. My companion got a piece of thick plastic in the bottom of their bowl and we brought it up to the waitstaff after we finished since we only wanted to warn them. Since they used ground meat, we thought the plastic could come from the butcher, but they were immediately apologetic and explained that it came from the noodle container. They comped one noodle dish, which they didn't have to do. I appreciated their sincerity and willingness to admit it happened. Accidents happen but still appreciated! Decor is cute pictures of food and Chinese architecture. A nice casual spot with good authentic noodles overall. I think I would return if I was a local living nearby, but as a tourist, definitely try it to see if it's to your liking. Otherwise, there are other places to try!
