well ive been thru horrendous childbirth, pancreatitis,& 3 hip replacements. nothing left me…read morebending over & wretching like their portapotties. even tho it's an hours drive, took my 2 friends to see this place which i have grown to love and they were sick of hearing me talk about it. Shakespeare once penned "to thine own self be true." i would pen this as "keep thine own manure to thyself." have been going here for years BECAUSE ITS UNUSUAL.BECAUSE ITS HIGH END. yet nature called this time. when i asked about a restroom they pointed me to the back where the porta potties are. the first one i opened was simply a predessor of what was to come. the other two left me w an impossible choice. i was trying not to dry heave entering the chosen one which was a slim comparison of the lesser of the other 2 evils. by the time i got to the front entrance where the car was parked i was bent over the car holding onto dear life with persistant vomiting onto the gravel. i felt so pretty. my friends would not go to lunch as planned as their description of my dryheaving in the car & my green face did not lend itself to eating. to not describe these portolets is not spareing you dear reader, but myself from the visuals that would prompt unyielding dryheaving every. single. time. that i think about this.my problem with this: i have a pretty strong stomach. my dad in the medical field would come home for dinner & while we were eating could easily talk about such subjects as pus. im no stranger when it comes to intestinal fortitude. these portolets were otherwordly disgusting, which to me were a complete insult to their customers who are spending small fortunes. i have never left there spending less than $300.00. and I'm on a pretty tight budget but I plan & save to come here. and most of their customers did not fall off the turnip truck or are backwoods farmers looking for something "purdy." show some respect to your customers. you want me to spend $250. 00 on some little garden ornament then clean up your act. make sure you use a real bathroom before coming here. I have been doing business with Smithland since the store was called Agway. Probably more years…read morethan the age of most of the employees. Before I made the long journey (approximately 30 to 40 minutes) I called to ask if they had the item I was looking for. Her response was, "we don't give out pricing or inventory on the phone." my response was, you are asking me to drive 25+ miles, to learn that you (possibly) don't have the item I'm looking for?? Again, like a robot, repeated her original sentence to me. I told her I would no longer be doing business with them as it is too far for me to go to learn they don't have the products I need. She said she was OK with that!! She must have graduated from the school of 'How to lose a customer' !!

I like this store for bird seed, plants, different types of soil and peat. Most all the employees…read moreare very nice. They almost always offer help bringing heavy items to my car. When I went I saw all masks on. Its not uncommon to see some off in all businesses unfortunately. I agree with last review I'd be very upset to see no masks or distancing. I find lots of items too expensive such as grow lights and bird feeders are okay when on sale. I like the variety in certain areas. The arty wind spinners and statues are nice but way over priced for me. There is a female manager who runs the place and Im sure its a bit stressful job but shes not the warmest person on the planet. I try not to ask her for help . My vegetable plants do not typically do that well from here. I have no idea why. Some do but many have spindly growth. Still I try to go here to spend my money locally. Id hate to see them close. We always participate in the bird seed sale.
