In the past 10 years I have had three different propane companies service the 4 tanks on the three properties I own. The first two companies, Amerigas and Blue Star, provided mediocre service at a high cost. Then a neighbor recommended I try Ferrellgas. From the very outset, their service has been head and shoulders above the others. Their GM for my area, Chris, is a competent professional who goes out of his way to make sure his customers are satisfied. He inspires the other Ferrellgas employees on his team to do the same. Like everyone else I am overly tired of hearing "because of covid" but having a company force payment (way over priced as well) over the phone when ordering a refill before services are rendered then having to wait 2-3 weeks in the winter and still not have your tank filled. Then when you call cause you don't have any propane and leave message no one calls you back. When you call back after not getting a call back after several days they say "because of covid." Don't force payment over the phone then make customers wait 3 weeks for propane. Used to have a reasonable price on propane, better service, and you could leave a check at the tank for payment at time of services rendered. Need to change your ways or your going to lose another customer. read more

Unbelievable!! Calls are routed to Washington @ Texas. On hold for 15 minutes. Told they can't deliver in our area (SF Bay area) because of ice and snow on roads. One said drivers work 12 hours a day and another, 16 hours a day. Shouldn't have to wait for 2 weeks for a fill or partial end of load. It's just poor management. I can't even get thru to my local delivery just 15 miles away. It's incompetence at the highest level. Called 3 other companies and they said the could deliver next day until I said we were with Ferrellgas. Then told they can only deliver to their own tank. read more

Ordered propane on September 21 and still waiting on October 6. No explanation for the delay. I was told it'd take 7 days at most to receive delivery. Customer service is a joke when you call to ask questions. Was told that delays happen when there's inclement weather. Umm, it was 90 two days ago with not a drop of rain in sight. Very poor service and I've been a client 12 years. The pilot light on my hot water heater went out. FerrellGas tech came to the house, reset the pilot light and when we asked how much was the house call he said No Charge. A week later we got a bill for $250 which I disputed. Jeannie in their Lakeport office reduced the bill to $125. I sent them a check for $125 but yesterday I got a bill for $135.31. They acknowledged and cashed my check for $125 but they are demanding an additional $135 ! They welched on their commitment. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau on Sebastopol. When I lived in Monte Rio I did not qualify for their "Keep it full" service. However one day I found a huge bill on my door. They filled my tank up without my asking. I had a couple of months left but now I had to pay in full immediately or they would come shut me off. They did admit that filling my tank was their mistake. However they were not willing to even work out a payment plan. It didn't matter that I paid for the two months of gas in that tank, they were more than willing to take that from me as well. I've heard stories from the water company next door of angry scenes in their parking lot from other customers who were screwed over by these people. If you have any choice at all avoid these people at all costs. If you are looking for a house to rent and it has a Ferrelgas tank, don't rent it, and tell the owner why. read more

Switched to Ferrell gas thinking that they had the customer in mind. I was wrong. You pay for the gas up front and them it takes thump to 7 days to fill your tank. We live at 3,000 feet and it can get down to the low 30's at night. We had to use our electric oven and two space heaters to stay warm. Went to our family's house to take a shower and do the laundry. They are at the whim of their drivers. Don''t bother with this company!!!!! read more

I inherited a McPhail propane tank when I purchased my home last year. When the tank ran out before I realized it was low, I contacted McPhail and the woman there wasn't able to confirm a delivery date but promised to call me back by the end of the day, to no avail. After five days of calling and receiving no confirmation of the tank being filled anytime soon, I finally was told that it would be 2-3 weeks for them to deliver more propane. Apparently no driver was available to make the delivery. At the time it was winter and I was without warm water and heat. I dealt with this inadequate service for about eight months before switching to Ferrell. So thankful I made the switch! The folks at Ferrell were prompt, professional and kind. Delivered propane within the day I ordered it and the field supervisor went out of his way to turn my system back on over the weekend to ensure I had gas. I highly recommend Ferrell, easy online payment system, professional and courteous staff! read more

Poor/non existent communication with 811. I opened a ticket with 811 prior to digging on our property. First 811 leaves Ferrell gas off their list, I noticed and called them back and added Ferrell gas since the gas line is right where we want to dig. A week and a half later, 7 phone calls to 811 and 2 phone calls to the Ferrell gas office in Guerneville..still no one shows up to mark the lines. After all our fires you would think they would try to protect their customers and our community..but apparently not. read more

I've been waiting since Dec 23 for them and they say they will be here next Tuesday, even though my gauge is not registering. Not the first time and typical. I've been with this company for over 10 years. I switched for the co-op pricing. Prices have slowly gone up and customer service has plummeted. I have 2 tanks on the property that are literally 25 feet apart. I call for a fill and my tenant calls for a fill at the same time. Do you think their scheduler (who needs to be fired btw) would schedule both fills for the same day? Nope. They're supposed to call 24 hours before the fill so that we can confine the dogs and give the truck access through the driveway gate. They don't call. They don't show up on the "fill by" date. This happens EVERY TIME WE PLACE OUR ORDERS. Customer service makes promises that are constantly broken. Drivers are rude. I'm done. Will be closing my account and going with a smaller, local company and I'll happily pay 5 cents a gallon more. The co-op price no longer exists. Save yourself a headache if you have dogs or a gate. Also, don't let your tank get too low because they may not show up at all. read more

Ferrellgas customer service is beyond helpful. We had an issue setting up autopay when we initially set up our account ( I mailed in the form and thought it went through but in reality it didn't). It was totally my fault for not double checking and long story short, our tank was completely empty without us realizing it because there was a hold on our account. We woke up freezing and have an 8 month old baby, so we called the office at 8am, and they were able to resolve the issue quickly. We paid our bill and they sent a guy out to us just an hour later. We had heat up and running by 11:30am, only 3 1/2 hours after calling. I'm beyond impressed with how kind, helpful, and understanding everyone was, including the lady we spoke to on the phone and the guy who came to fill our tank and relight the pilot lights. Would definitely recommend this company. read more

Called this place today to get info on having propane installed in my home that we just purchased. I was going to have them come out and give me an estimate to install a tank and service. I asked how I go about getting a tank installed and her response was "well you have to have it all hooked up first". I was like "that's what I want to do, have it hooked up, do you install the gas lines?" She responded "yes, but it has to be hooked up so we can test it". I asked "sorry, what needs to be hooked up to test this" and then the very young, teenage sounding girl sighed into my ear. Yes, a big, hearty, YOU ARE A MORON sigh. Apparently, you must know everything about propane before calling. Finally she managed to spit it out that the furnace must be hooked up before installing the tank so that they can test the tank. All in all, she was rude, unprofessional and gets an E at explaining the basics of how getting service works. I called AmeriGas and Blue Star and both were awesome in setting up appointments for a sales guy to come out and give me quotes. Don't waste your time with this place. Find someone to answer the phone that didn't just get out of valley girl high school and maybe you will get better reviews. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE !!!! Just went through Thanksgiving with no gas because the "schedule" didn't include me even though I called Tuesday and today is Friday... At 9 am this morning I called the office and "customer service" women were rude and unhelpful and shuffled me off the phone. Had to call back 4 times just to be told that the driver had left the area... and wont be back till Tuesday.... This is not that bg of an area..... so now we have no heat no stove and no hot water. for another week. LAME!!!! So glad I don't have kids..... read more

If you own your own tank you get a nice deal on the price. If you rent one.. well you might consider buying your own. Bought my own tank from Amerigas 20 years ago and had Blue Star run the lines as they were recommended. The tank I bought paid for itself in 43 years and has saved me money ever since. 10 times. I can call all of the local places and find the best rate and usually it Ferrell (if it's your tank). Nice but overworked drivers, there always seems to be a shortage of drivers out here. read more

Some helpful customer service would be nice. They've got an awful underhanded way of making an additional 10% in there annual billing. They have my email address and my mailing address, but they won't send out a reminder when my annual bill is due. Instead the wait until they add 10% service charge and then send the bill in the mail. They act as if I have nothing else going on in my life, but to remember that I have an annual bill to pay Ferrellgas. Please start sending email reminders. read more

Our landlord set up our tank with Ferrelgas. When I noticed we were low on gas, I placed an order (had to pay in advance) on a Monday and was told to conserve and that they'd be there Friday at the latest. It's now the following Wednesday and we're still not on the delivery schedule and not getting any clear answer of when they will come. By tonight we'll be out of gas. The phone operator told me I could always just go with another company which is a really poor way of handling the situation. It's also not as easy as it sounds when the tank is already in place, I pay a rental fee for it, and I've already paid in advance for the gas that isn't being delivered. A new company would need to install a new tank, otherwise I would switch in a heartbeat. If you have the opportunity to make the right choice from the start, go with McPhails. read more

Chris, who came to set our new tank was awesome, checked the lines and inside our house for safety, put new cement blocks under the new tank. Mixed review here. Overall satisfied by the great service and friendly people. One bad apple to report here. The day after gas delivery my van mirror was pushed in. It is narrow in my side yard with cinder blocks on the ground and I figured the delivery driver pushed the mirror flat to get by. I then noticed a new trim dent and paint scrape under the window. It looked as if someone carrying something toward my propane tank fell against my trim and paint (the scrape was curved like the object was moving forward and then down toward the ground). I figured 2+2=4 The guy probably stumbled on the cinder block and fell against my van with the gas nozzle he was pulling along. I would have let it go but I was advised that if he "got away with it" that others would suffer at the hands of this Ferrell driver. So I called and talked to Li_ _ who was as friendly as always and helpful to pass the info to the manager who would call me later. I got a call from B_ _ _ later who stated that it was the day from hell for him. I restated my story and he immediately asked if I have video proof of the incident. I said no. He said the driver says he didn't do it, it has been a while since the incident (3 weeks) and I would likely get nothing if I filed a claim. I said I wasn't planning on filing a claim anyway and that it was too bad that he went immediately into CYA mode (and not PR mode) and didn't offer any apology. I told him he could go back to his busy day without having to deal with me any further. He said goodby and hung up. I hope that is a fair writeup. I will live with my dent, scrape and no apology. read more

The service is probably the worst I have ever experienced. Calling for 4 days to get gas and we keep getting shuffled around. It's dead of winter, their tank is impossible to read due to the location of the meter, ran out of gas, called Ferrellgas to do "expedited" service (you pay extra to get gas ASAP). Well they screwed that up. Called several times, left messages, no one called back. Had to speak to management who claims, "there's no message from you...". Finally got them to agree to come out 3 days later. Waited til 4:00 pm, got nervous and called them asking when they were coming. "Lindsey" claims that we weren't scheduled. That was the last straw. Whatever you do - DO NOT use this company. They SUCK. We called McPhail and are switching. read more

All we have on propane I as a wall heater and our bill has been about $200 a month. This is a rip off. We then get a bill for $700 saying we may have a leak. If I had as leak I think I would smell it some where. I only have a stupid wall heater. $200 is outrageous let alone $700. I think I am going to get a tank from Ameri gas and scrap this piped in propane metered crap. read more

I could not agree with the above reviewer more. We had a leak that cost us over two thousand dollars over a 3 month period yet the driver that filled the tank never noticed the leak. It took a neighbor to report the leak after they smelled it when walking by the tank. Repeated calls to service the tank brought no response. This is a terrible company. read more

Ferrell continues to be one of the most frustrating companies i've had to interact with. Called 11 days ago for a refill, not realizing how long their delivery "window" would be (my guess is they never come early). When I called to check in on why it was so long, I was told because I placed the order on a friday, and they don't count weekends as days for their order timeframes, the order didn't go through til monday. Every person at this company tells me something different. Only one person (who I now connect with directly each time) has made attempts to be helpful, and helped me get propane last time, which was my first interaction with Ferrell. I just got a half tank one month ago... Now the tank is nearing 10%, and I'm unconvinced they'll even come on time. Tomorrow is the last day of their "window." When I called this morning to check all I was told was they'd tell dispatch tomorrow is my last day. Lol. It's nearly impossible to get someone to confirm you'll actually get your propane. I paid nearly $600 nearly 2 weeks ago. No propane. This company is such that if I don't call and stay on them for the order, or early way way ahead of time so it doesn't matter when they come, i'll never have propane. I've learned my lesson not to let it drop below 50% before calling them. If i don't want to chase them down, I need to allow many weeks from order date for them to work their shit out and deliver some propane. read more

I have had Ferrellgas for years and am at my whit's end with their mistakes and bad attitude. I order 200 gallons (the minimum) at a time and they have twice delivered 500 gallons. When I spoke to them about this they tell me I told them to fill my tank. Then they say someone will call me back. I have to always email the head office and then I get several different scenarios. I have told them I will only pay for 200 gallons until I would normally need more propane. They say okay and then turn me over to collections after having someone I haven't talked to from collections phone me with threats. I went to my tank today to read the meter and a yellow cap has been installed over it (by whom and why?) Looks like they trespassed onto my property. This place sucks. Need a new provider desperately. read more

Negative stars. Been a customer for over ten years and now they tell me they want $100 to pick up their tank. I am disputing the charges, but involves a long process. I may file a cease and desist against them with the CA attorney general if they send me any further bills. This morally corrupt company charges whatever they feel like- every customer pays a different rate, depending on how they can gouge you. Relatively new to Sonoma County...learned that we could own our own tank and get significantly lower costs on bulk propane. Indeed. We called around and Ferrellgas seems to be the most reasonable/accessible. We have had nothing but great service since we signed on starting with very responsive people in the Guerneville office. We had to pay a surcharge on Christmas Day which I wasn't thrilled about, but it was my fault and we were just thrilled that they were willing to come out. We're now on their program that puts the burden of keeping it full on them - thus there'll never be another surcharge and I won't have to worry about traveling, etc. read more

I just signed up with Ferrell gas. I had Amerigas and they were constantly forgetting to fill my tank and charging me 30% more. I did some research and went with Ferrell because I could tap into their lines on my street in Guerneville and never have to worry about tanks again. Also their pricing was very competitive as I researched multiple companies in the area. Chris who did the installation was fantastic and did a great job installing and getting everything set up. We "inherited" Ferrellgas when we moved to Guerneville in 2015. That said, we've never had a problem, from transferring the account, to setting up our payment process (so we don't have to pre-pay for fill-ups), to scheduling tank refills (either on-line or by phone). Recently, with the aftermath of the floods, our tank had to be disconnected, which lasted several days, but it wasn't dangerous (the valve had already been turned off and eventually the tank was disconnected) and I knew there were much serious situations in the area. Nonetheless, I phoned the local office on Monday (when they were finally able to get back in themselves) and was told, honestly and compassionately, that given their volume, it was not clear when our propane would be repaired but that I should call back the following day and would happily be given an update. When the service technician was able to come out, all was made well in short-order (repaired, checked for leaks and confirmed that the propane was running to the house). Despite how overwhelmed and overworked the Ferrellgas team (office and field) had to of been during that time, I was treated with kindness, understanding and respect, throughout the process. read more

I was calling around because our current propane service had raised their prices soon high. I received a quote for over $2 less a gallon than our exisitng service for the first fill, and about $1.8/gal less for on going service. The person on the phone was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and patient with my questions, Ryan, the tank delivery guy was able to come out within 2 days, was on time, fast, efficient, and a true pleasure to deal with. He checked for leaks at the tank, in the house, replaced a bad valve at our clothes dryer, replaced one pipe and sprayed another outside to reduce future corrosion, and moved the old tank to a convenient location of our choice, (that tank will be picked up by the company we are so happy to be leaving - they said they needed maybe 5 weeks to get out here to pick it up!) Ryan did everything with care, no cost and a great attitude. read more
