So normally this is I go to place when I'm in Santee to grab a burrito, but as I was on my way home I stopped for two chorizo burritos not only did the beans taste old, but I also got a large Horchata and the car cup that they put the drink in. Was leaking all over my clothes. On my way driving home. It was just it's a very thin plastic cup. And they've recently done some construction where I believe they had eliminated a bathroom so it's just not easy to stop here. read more

The woman at the counter on Dec 17th at 9:30 am gave me the most rudest and uncalled for customer service of my life. I've been going to this place for 15 years and not once had a run in with this at this place or any other. Went here 20 minutes before closing. Saw they have Buffalo chicken fries. Another place in San Diego I used to frequent has this. So I asked if they could make on into a burrito. This is the best Buffalo chicken burrito I have ever had in my life and it's not even on the menu. It needs to be but they were happy to make one for me even so late. Portions are good. As a Santee resident for 30+years, Ferney's was our go to for breakfast burritos. WAS one of the best. The quality and taste has been declining over the past year or so. Add to this the fact that I cringe and start sweating when it comes time to call in an order! The young girls that work the phone and counter are Rude. Oh, did I mention unhelpful and RUDE!!!! Forget asking about a menu item! Keep in mind this is about 8:00 AM during the week!! I thought maybe the phone is their issue but....NO!!! Ferny's GM Fernando contacted me through Yelp and asked that I give them an opportunity to make things right after my last review. Fernando told me that they have had some issues of late which resulted in some inconsistent quality of product. He assured me that they were making inroads on correcting them. He was right. Becky and I stopped in for some takeout Friday night on our way home. Much improved from our previous few visits. My Adobada Burrito with cheese was very good. Loaded with deliciously seasoned adobada, lots of cheese and very cilantro-y pico. I very much enjoyed it. Becky ordered the Carne Asada plate with corn tortillas and she too was very pleased. Excellently prepared carne the way we've grown accustomed to from Ferny's. They have remedied the half-full salsa cups. Ours were full. Fernando told me that there would be an envelope waiting for me at the counter. I asked the young girl who took my order and sure enough. There was an envelope with the $4.63 in it that I should've received off of my first online order, but didn't. Thanks Fernando! We did not have rolled tacos, one of my complaints from last time. Also I'm still not in love with the app for ordering so I can't quite go five stars. Thank you for recognizing shortcomings and thank you for addressing them. Service is great ,I like their open late Hot sauces are good but I think it's ridiculous that they have changed the classic California burrito french fries , guacamole, pico de gallo and carne asada Theirs is grilled potatoes,cheese ,sour cream and carne asada . Not the same , change the name. It reminded me of a loaded baked potato. The enchiladas are fabulous - we had both chicken and beef. Sauce is slightly spicy, just perfect, and some nice chunks of meat. Not too salty, which I occasionally find a problem with other taco shops. Seating wasn't anything fancy, and we did take out, so it didn't matter much, but the dining area looked a bit small. The pick up window was right near the entrance, so I can see it getting cramped if it's busy - the line would go out the door, and get mixed in with people entering/exiting. Overall though, this was definitely worth the money, and calling in an order went super quickly. read more

Ferny's is my favorite taco shop in Santee. The food is amazing and the service has always been really good. One time I ordered online and due to internet issues, they never received the order. By the time I showed up they made the order quickly, apologized and even comped the order since I had to wait. The nacho burrito is my favorite item on the menu. My family loves both the shrimp and spicy shrimp tacos. And the kids meals have very large portions as well as a drink. I've been here a couple times before so I was surprised to find that I have neither checked in or reviewed Fennys. On my last visit I had a Carne Asada Quesadilla. Not bad. I liked the cheese they used. The carne asada was tasty. I felt there could have been more meat. They have a nice salsa bar with several salsas radishes onions carrots and limes. It was clean There was one table near an outlet which was great ad my phone battery was low. The place was modestly decorated with tile paintings on the wall. The young woman that waited me was friendlyand helpful. What kept it from being a five star review and came close to dropping it to 3 stars was the lack of a senior or Veteran discount. I do reccomend this place for the good food and service. It's not likely I'll return soon as I do prefer to patronize places that honor my senior and veteran status, and there are so many places that do. read more

The food was Ok just not to our taste. Yesterday was our first time. It will be the last. The shredded beef in the tacos was too salty as were the beans. TBH, we use very little salt at home because it's better for you so it might be fine for others. I would also taste test their "salsa" (really hot sauce) before using. Glad I did-too spicy for us. I ordered the chilaquiles and asked for guacamole too. The chilaquiles were supposed to be made with ranchero sauce but none was in evidence. The tortilla strips were not even coated with red. The front counter gal said the guac was made only with avocado. Just like I like it except what I got I do not consider guac. It was more like avocado sauce. Pureed. No texture at all. Probably a commercial product. The only bright spot was that they served a pan fried mixture of potato strips, onions and bell peppers with the chilaquiles instead of rice. I recently moved to the area (Santee) and was researching a lot of the Mexican restaurants. I came across this place on Yelp, and when I saw the cover photo (thanks to whoever posted that), I got in my car and drove up. Parking was easy on a Friday night around 8:30. I noticed a lot of people were using a larger parking lot next of Ferny's. I went inside and was greeted by two really nice employees. I told Wendy it was my first time at Ferny's. I showed her the Yelp picture and asked what it was. She told me it was the Surf and Turf fries. I placed an order and asked if she recommended anything else. She suggested the spicy shrimp taco. When ordering, I did not know how HUGE the portions were, so definitely worth the cost. I even ordered the small fries and they were enough for 3 meals. They had several different options for salsas. I got the verde and the habanero. I'm taking a break for gorging on this epic and amazing food to write this review. Everything is delicious! I'm very impressed with the quality of the beef and shrimp. My picture can't even do it justice, but I thought I'd start somewhere. Highly recommend. Can't wait to go back. read more

I'm not sure but it is so hard for me to find a breakfast burrito with sausage in it and all of the other fixings. Then I stumbled upon this place. The burrito was affordable and a good size. Everything was cooked throughly and it tasted amazing. They were stingy with quantities. The cheese enchiladas were even better.
