A shrimp enchilada, a tamale and a crispy beef taco. Let's start with the chips and salsa. Chips thin and warm. That a bonus. Salsa was ok. Husband asked for salsa picosa twice and we never got it. His steak was boiled meat. No flavor. The server asked lots of questions for details but none of the details were met. My Tamale had no cheeee sauce that was requested. The taco had no lettuce and cheese that was requested. The shrimp enchilada was as ordered. All tasted ok. The tamale was moist so I'm counting that as a victory. Mike ordered one chile toriado (spelling) he got a full order of 4. We just rolled with it. The shrimp were a nice size and tasted pretty good. Overall the flavor was lacking today. We will return and get the chicken fajitas in hopes that their food quality did not decline with the interior changes. The decor is very modern and feels like a sports bar with lots of TVs. The colored lightbulbs over each booth are very pretty to look at, but making reading a menu impossible. We had to use the light on our phone to read the menus.

If you do muss out on this place, it is your loss. Thanks to Yelp and the overall positive reviews, I was seeking out El Cabrito and I still drove by it, lol. Oh well, not a big deal and in no time, I was parked in their parking lot and walking in. I was seated and the overall ambiance was what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. Nothing fancy, but that's okay. For me, I have always found the best Mexican food in these mom-and-pop, more humble type places. My server was friendly and I opted to go with one of the burritos. I believe that they called it their grande steak burrito. I enjoyed my burrito and for ten dollars, it was competitively priced. I would definitely recommend El Cabrito.

No lettuce, cheese, cabbage, sauce, or anything else that would make it a taco. But I did get 3 small cups of mystery liquid that I assume was to dip or pour over? No idea. I tasted one and it was extremely spicy and did not have a good flavor. My husband got a P5 Happy Plate and it had an odd taste. We should have left after the smelly menus. We told the girl at the checkout about how they smelled and she just looked at us. No response.

With plenty of Mexican options around Clinton, my son's favorite is Salsa's--and I can see why he…read moreenjoys it. My entrée of burrito, taco, and enchilada was flavorful and satisfying. That said, dining Mexican is about the full experience, and Salsa's fell short for me. The complimentary chips were thick and cold--I much prefer them thin, crisp, and ideally warm when they hit the table. The salsa itself was disappointing too: thick, plain, and more like tomato sauce than the fresh, zesty dip I was hoping for. Service also had a hiccup--I was charged for extra pico and sour cream that never arrived. Not the end of the world, but frustrating nonetheless. All in all, while my meal was tasty and my son enjoyed his birthday, I can't say I had the complete Mexican dining experience I look forward to. I'll give Salsa's another shot next year, but for now, it's not at the top of my list.

Guess what they brought, a margarita with a shot of 1800, not my order. Then the food arrived. My taco and tostada were supposed to be crispy yet both were wet and soggy. For the first time in decades of dining out, I sent my food back, hoping they wouldn't spit in my food. Unfortunately the soggy food completely disgusted me and I couldn't eat after that. I would give this establishment a zero if I could.
