Like some of the other reviews caution, you will spend a good amount of time in the waiting room.  I told myself that this was because Dr. Wiesenthal really takes her time with each patient.  I looked forward to my time with the attentive doctor. My time with the attentive doctor went like this: Me: Describes a symptom I am experiencing. Her: Hands me a business card referring me to another doctor. Me: Describes a symptom I am experiencing. Her: Hands me a business card referring me to another doctor Over. And over.   I left with 6 business cards, no discussion on what might be going on with me,  no clarification or insight into my symptoms,  disappointment, and a ton of questions.  One thing that Dr. Weisenthal did offer to me was a printout of the manifestation of one of my symptoms. But she never gave it to me. As I was checking out, she walked out of the back room and I said "Excuse me" in an effort to ask her about it. Her retort: "You'll have to schedule another appointment  of you want to ask me any other questions." As you would imagine, I have never felt more devalued, ignored, degraded, and looked down on.  If that is the sort of treatment that you're looking for in a physician, give Dr.  Wiesenthal a try.   If that's not what you're looking for, stay far, far away.

I found her, I found the right Doctor but unfortunately not. First time she run some tests as a general routine, the second time we went we waited long time in the room more like 45 minutes,( we got there on time for our appointment )and she showed up for just 15 minutes total, our appointment was at the same time for me and my husband, (as per our request), but in 15 minutes, just 15 minutes for two people with different questions and health concerns???, ( not enough time for either of us) she left us with the assistant for further questions. That same day I did a follow up tests results consult visit to not to waste time TRYING TO GET A HOLD OF SOMEBODY ON THE PHONE FOR MY NEXT VISIT, to my surprise the tests results took a month and a half to come in, ( very weird and too long for simple routine tests) and to my other surprise one of the assistants called me to give me the tests results of my husband and my self, the wording of this person lets say she is not a doctor to deliver news, was awful, we got really scared of what she told us, she said it very alarming and harsh, and when I got scared I ask to talk to Dr. Wiesenthal, but she said I've had to make an appointment for it, I asked her more questions about my husband and myself results and she said that Dr. Wiesenthal asked her to call us and give us the results, that's it !!! THAT'S IT???? and that she could not answer any other questions, apparently Dr. Wiesenthal was too busy to deliver such delicate news, needless to say Iwas saying ok i still have my follow up appointment with her on Friday, which I had to cancel because I had a back prodecure that same day, so I called them to let them know and reschedule, TO MY SURPRISE !! I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT RESCHEDULE ME AND HUBBY UNTIL I PAY MY OUTSTANDING BALANCE OF 220 USD EACH!!! I was whaaaaaat! My health insurance should covered that, so I called my health insurance and they've told me that the doctor wrote the wrong code word, that she only had to change a word in it and they will cover everything, since then and after 4 weeks I've have been trying to get a hold on the phone with any human at the office but answer machine is all I've got, my hubby went to the office personally, and the receptionist said that Dr Wiesenthal is in charge of the charges and money and that she will return our inquiry, STILL WAITING ... ALMOST 5 WEEKS AND COUNTING, WAITING FOR THE DOCTOR TO CONTACT ME. Of course, I've been billed for the total amount to my home but nobody including Dr. Wiesenthal seems to care tu return any of my multiple phone calls, also in the mean time I needed to see her for new concerning symptoms about my health, BUT APPARENTLY IF I DONT PAY WHICH I'HAVE BEEN TRYING, SEVERAL TIMES, SHE IS NEGLECTING ME AS A PATIENT. LAST TIME I'VE CHECK DOCTORS TAKE CARE OF PATIENTS FIRST NOT ABOUT MONEY FIRST... I f you need proper care, I suggest go to another doctor, I don't know who gave the "Most Compassionate award" to Dr. Wiesenthal, but for sure they should review their standards to extend such an AWARD, or at least talk to some patients before giving it away. Hope this helps !!!

I have ADHD, anxiety, and medical Ptsd) . I am also aware that he was in touch with other doctors about my condition without my permission. But overall I just felt like he bullied the heck out of me. He said my pain is mental and not physical and that clearly I am not capable of handling it. I am not surprised to read these additional reviews for him. Unless you are an elite athlete or you are willing to roll over and take what he says, he is cruel and because he and I have a personality conflict, rather than treat my pain he has attempting to diagnose my mental health. I do want to add here that I have plenty of care for my mental health. But this doctor has no concern for that. Avoid at all costs.

He mocked me when I told him why I left another doctor. After telling this doctor I was in animal rescue (he asked what my interests were), he cringed and asked if my dogs were rescue dogs or were mine. When I said they are both he said my dogs are old and will die soon and I should not consider getting another because I needed to sleep. I became emotional and he was totally unsympathetic. He has no empathy, compassion or bedside manner. If you are looking for a drill sargent that will embarrass you into good health he's your man. Dr. Alvarez is hands down the best internist/PCP (primary care physician) I have ever had. He is…read moreextremely attentive as he spent almost 1.5 hours with me on my first appointment. He is thorough with even the most basic of exams (orders an in office ECG) and takes that extra time to order an extra lab or two that will allow him to rule out a diagnosis or two. Most PCP's I have had usually just go with the standard response and don't investigate, while they may be right most of the time, I like to know that my doctor can see or at least try to discern the common from the uncommon, because that one time it shows could mean a great deal for my health or the health of my family. In addition Dr. Alvarez's staff is uber friendly. They are great on the phone and very patient with me when trying to figure out a time when I can come in for an appointment. He sometimes does run behind, and the one time he was running very late due to another emergency he made an exception and rescheduled me the next day for a later that typical appointment. The only other provider I have seen in his office besides him is his Nurse Practitioner (I have totally blanked on her name, but she is great as well and just as attentive and thorough). If anyone is in need of an internist or a primary care doctor Dr. Alvarez is one of the best!

They are always polite and always professional. Dr. Alvarez is a great listener, asks the right questions, and is genuinely concerned about his patient's well-being. Entitled, corrupt, petty - the most succinct words to describe the office staff here, which…read moreunfortunately reflects just as negatively upon the doctors for being complicit with their decision to keep them employed despite recurrent complaints about them. I booked months in advance, and initially received the paperwork to fill out and noticed several office errors in it - not a great look, but not uncommon. Then days before the scheduled appointment I get a couple of calls about issues with my insurance, so I call them back and leave a message. Eventually I am able to speak to the verification of benefits individual who tells me she cancelled the appointment already. Nice. She also proves to be one of the most rude, unqualified, dishonest people I've ever had the displeasure to talk with. She says she is having issues verifying my insurance. After several minutes of rude discourse, I find out they incorrectly recorded my insurance information, so I tell them the correct information and almost immediately she said it still isn't working...So i send over a picture of my insurance card, she says she contacted my insurance and is waiting for a fax to verify benefits...in 2026...strange...Don't hear back from her so I call Cigna and ask if they sent the fax and they tell me they don't need to use fax to send a proof of benefits letter (so lie #1 from verification of benefits person) and so Cigna sent it immediately to the office staff instead. I eventually get a call the verification benefits individual and she precedes to tell me they can't take me because my insurance is HMO (lie #2, my plan is Open Access Plus) and that I need a referral. I told her if that's the case, my PCP referred me to a different rheumatologist already so I could ask my PCP to change the rheumatologist referral to their office if they truly need a referral. She says they still can't accept my insurance (so lie #3). I ask if I could just pay out of pocket then and she claims they don't accept that either (lie #4). So I call Cigna again, they tell me I don't have HMO and don't need a referral with the Open Access plan so they call them and are likewise confused why they are refusing me because the office staff are telling them I need a referral and still won't accept me even if I have one. So I call the office front desk and ask if they accept Cigna Open Plus Plan and am told "yes". So I explain the situation and the front desk connects me with some administrator there who tells me they can't accept me because my insurance is a "3rd party multi plan" (lie #5). Called Cigna, they say the office is wrong and there are no "3rd party" plans. Now the office is just telling me and Cigna they just simply don't want me as a patient without further explanation (at least they finally stopped making up false reasons). Truly the worst "customer service" I've likely ever experienced. In case the office staff reads this: just know that one day you (like each one of us) will be face-to-face with God and have to give an accounting of, and answer for, evils and sins you've committed in life, regardless of whether you choose to believe in Him or not.

If you're seeking help I would highly STAY AWAY…read more I went in to have a new patient appointment to establish new care as a patient with Beta Matos due to autoimmune issues and needed a plan to navigate forwards as I had some blood good with not good results. The waiting period to actually get into office was ridiculous as it was a long time like hours for entire visit to be completed. Finally when I got back into the room to see him he was absolutely dismissive about every single symptom I had stated. He looked at my face and said "you barely have a butterfly rash." Mind you I was staying out of the sun bc of the reactions i was having and the butterfly rash is sunlight induced. Went through my hair to see if any hair was falling out and said "not enough hair falling out". Looked at my hands and said "mmm I can see they're inflamed but not that bad." I showed him my blood work and explained how my ANA was high and was concerned and he said "it's not that bad. It could be high just because it's just a little high" and then proceeded to pull up WebMD to explain to me. My guy I used webmd the night before my appointment like is this where we're getting our resources from? Bc if so then call me Dr. J too bc when he turned that screen around and it said webmd I was like oh you got to be kidding me. Anywho, I also had my service dog with me and he tried calling her to pet her and did the clicky noise with his mouth to grab her attention and my service dog did a grunt back at him basically saying leave me the hell alone im working, and let me clarify not a growl a grunt and he kicked us out of the room bc "she shouldn't be doing that if she's a service dog." When in reality being a medical professional he should know NOT to interfere with a service dog. Along with the fact my service dog was tucked under my chair the entire time and I was wearing a shirt so honestly it made me uncomfortable like was he trying to cop a look and use my dog as an excuse. Idk either way inappropriate behavior all together and felt leaving dismissed & unheard. He truly shouldn't have be a medical professional as all his reviews he has are horrible and is incapable of listening to his patients. Stay clear from this man at all cost unless you want to be ignored and have no actual medical help
