I am so grateful for Dr. Fern Le and her wonderful staff! I had my first root canal experience that unfortunately my primary dentist could not get numbed. Dr. Le was able to fit me in right away and get me numb! Turned out I had severely curved roots making it a challenging root canal. Her office was friendly, straight forward on costs, and able to fix my tooth. Highly recommend! read more

I have had two root canals at this office and as someone with trauma around dental work, this has been one of the best experiences I have ever had. The staff is competent and kind, and Dr. Le is incredibly gentle and communicative. I never need to ask for more numbing, and my comfort is prioritized. I would highly recommend this office to anyone in need of endodontics. read more

No one wants to get a root canal, but I was deeply grateful to be cared for by Dr. Le and her compassionate staff when I needed one. Dr. Le and her staff were extremely responsive, supportive, communicative and kind, and I truly couldn't have asked for better care I was referred to Dr. Le's practice 8 months ago with an intermittent toothache. Her staff got me into the office within a day or two, and Dr. Le assessed the tooth. She found my tooth was sensitive, but so were all the others, so she said she didn't feel comfortable doing a root canal then, and to come back when I was feeling more substantial pain. 8 months later the toothache returned, this time much more severe. My dentist referred me back to Dr Le for another consultation. By the time she assessed it, the tooth was NOT sensitive at all to pain, which indicated the root had died. (Note: When I went for the initial consultation, unbeknownst to me, there was an outstanding portion of the bill my insurance hadn't covered; when I went back to be reassessed again, they said if I paid the outstanding amount, they WOULD NOT CHARGE ME for another consultation exam!!! And when I checked my dental insurance, I saw Dr. Le had charged me a total of $220 LESS than what the insurance company said would be my portion. So amazing!) I was a bit of a wreck the day I went in for the 2nd consultation, so I asked Dr. Ley to explain everything she said twice just to be sure I understood it. I even asked her to test the tooth 1 more time after she explained her diagnosis the 2nd time. She was very patient and reassured me that, yes, the root was dead and I really did need a root canal. Her office staff walked me through the procedure she recommended and explained what the cost would be. They were also very patient, and gave me options to maximize my insurance coverage. I came back the next week for stage 1 of the root canal. Dr. Apparently I have very long and curvy roots, so part one took 1 1/2 hours of careful drilling through my crown and down into the roots. While it was not a comfortable procedure, I felt NO PAIN. Dr. Ley explained what she was going to do at each step, spoke kindly througout and her assistant was calm and reassuring. At the end of part 1 I was giving instructions on how to take care of myself after the procedure, and Dr. Ley's staff called me the next day to see how I was feeling--both very comforting. A week later I went back for stage 2 of the root canal. Stage 2 took 2 hours and again, was somewhat uncomfortable, but I felt NO PAIN. In addition to drilling out the root, Dr. Ley does some a fancy deep clean with a machine. I didn't track all the steps because by this point, I felt deep trust in her expertise and was just glad to relax in the chair. Again, the staff was lovely as I left, and I felt very well cared for. The next day one of the staff again called to ask how I was feeling. Throughout the whole process, from 8 months earlier to the conclusion of my root canal, Dr. Ley and her staff were exceedingly professional and competent, and also, exceedingly responsive and patient. They answered every question I had both in the office and on the phone and communicated back with me by voice mail and text to follow up. For once in my life, I didn't bother to compare reviews for a practitioner before going to see them (who has time when they need a root canal); however, I was very glad I'd been referred to her, and have the highest recommendation for her and her team. (I am also very Covid conscious, and called before going in for the assessment both times. The first time, all of the staff was masked; the second time, staff had masks around their necks, and when I walked in and they saw I was masked, they put on their masks. When I sat down, I noticed that my chart was marked "N95" and Dr. Le was careful to put on an N95 when she came to assess my tooth, and she definitely wore an N95 during the procedure. This is in contrast to my regular dentist whose staff told me they didn't stock N95's in the office, and where none of the front office staff mask at all) read more

Worst treatment ever. Painful, distant, inept. Was in the chair a total of 6 hours and she never asked how I was doing. In order to not drown I had to frequently spit out all the stuff in my mouth as she paid no attention to me only my tooth. I should have known since they had a dead orchid in the office for 3 weeks. Had a root canal done, Dr. Lees brother sent me to her. Her machine did not work mid treatment, then she only was interested in moving her schedule around while working on me and when I followed her handout about new pain ,swelling and earache to call no one answered for 3 hours and 7 phone calls. She said I also needed another root canal but when I had a second opinion, he said it was unnecessary and to wait since it was not bothering me. Her charges are also 4-500 dollars more than other much better endodontists. She was horrid. read more

I see some people saying here that she's not gentle. I just want to remind everyone, it's root canal, not a gentle massage. If you have to have one, Dr Le is the one to do it well and efficiently. I've had a few root canals done by her. She explains things as needed, this is not a time to chit chat. She's laser focused on her task and if something hurts, she's on it, she will numb you more as needed. Please set your expectations, it's not like getting a filling done or a crown. She has to put a bit of muscle into it. read more

I had a root canal in July and am so grateful to Dr. Le and her extraordinary assistant, Emily. They saved my tooth and my crown. Dr. Le performed the procedure during two different appointments a week apart I was soon back to my normal self. After months of discomfort, it was such a gift to be pain free again. Her entire office staff were very kind and efficient. I'm so grateful to have been referred by Capitola Dental and can highly recommend! read more

Dr. Le was extremely rude to my mother and I. She became frustrated when I began asking her questions to help me understand my mother oral situation. When she showed me my mothers teeth and the pain she was feeling, she aggressively hit my mother's teeth. I brought it to her attention and she grew more frustrated. I see majority of her reviews are positive and I wonder why she wasn't pleasant with us. I thought to myself she is either bias or she needs soul searching. I hope this post will be helpful for the next person she may become rude to. read more

I had a root canal this week and I am so pleasantly surprised by how smoothly it all went. Let's face it, root canals are no day in the park. Fortunately, Dr. Le runs such a tight ship, that the 2 appointment process went as well as it could. Her entire staff was helpful and kind. The doc herself was so efficient and skilled that she recapped my crown at no extra charge- a step I understood I would have to return to a general dentist to complete. Thank you Dr. Le and Jennifer too! Stay safe and well all. read more

Dr. Le was highly recommend by my dentist, and I can understand why. My experience with her was positive and impressive. I've had a rather difficult history with dental work since I was young, and it's left it's mark. I experience some level of anxiety everytime I go to the dentist, or in this case endodontist. I'm difficult to numb, to begin with, which has required a number of extra injections anytime I've had dental work, and then some. I told Dr. Le what I was experiencing before she began working on me, and she responded with warm heartedness and kindness that put me much more at ease, and then she checked in with me during the incredibly detailed and complex re-treatment of my root canal from many years ago. It can't be easy being an endodontist. The treatments they offer are something that most people would very much like to avoid, and yet without their specialized skills a lot of people would be missing teeth, and for those people who commented that Dr. Le is rough, I'm not sure what they expected endodontic treatment to be like. I didn't experience anything that felt unnecessary. Repairing a root canal can't be accomplished by waving a magic wand over someone. It's difficult and demanding work, and in my particular case any dental/endodontic work can be uncomfortable, but the alternative is far worse. read more

I'm so glad I found Dr. Fern Le! She is a wonderful Endodontist! I needed a root canal after a gold inlay fell out of my molar tooth. She came highly recommended by someone I trust and respect, and I'm so grateful I found Capitola Endodontics! I was so glad they could fit me in soon after calling them, which was a day before Thanksgiving, so I could enjoy the holiday and Thanksgiving dinner. The office is clean, modern, with nice decor and lot's of free parking all around the office which is situated in a cute mall set back from the street on 41st. Ave. I was super anxious before the root canal procedure, but the staff at the office were wonderful, especially the lovely dental assistant Amanda who was so kind and patient, and explained exactly what the procedure consisted of, and what was going to happen. She had such warmth and friendliness I was instantly put at ease. She administered a numbing honey-like gel onto my gums while I got settled and set up my earphones so I could listen to some relaxing music during the procedure. (I highly recommend this, although they do play great music in the office too!) Dr. Fern Le then came in and explained everything she was about to do, and answered any questions. She gave me a few shots of anaesthetic in my gums, which I barely felt as the numbing gel had already got to work by then. Dr. Fern Le was patient, very focussed and highly skilled. Her work is flawless and her bedside manner is great. She checked in many times throughout the procedure to make sure I was doing well, explained everything she was about to do before she did it, and instinctively knew when to use the suction to make me more comfortable. I appreciate her efficiency, and clarity when communicating, and was glad she wasn't trying to make conversation so I could concentrate on my breathing and relaxing with the music. I found her demeanor to be excellent and exactly what you would want from an Endodontist, i.e.; focus on the work being done well and efficiently. I've just gone back to 'finish' the root canal (from what I understand this procedure happens in two parts) and was impressed by how fast and relatively pain-free the second procedure was. They called to check up on how I was doing a few days after the procedure, which was a really nice touch. They were fast and efficient in sorting the payments with my insurance and their rates are very good. I'm super happy with my whole experience, and am so grateful to Dr. Fern Le and her amazing staff. Highly recommended! read more

FromOral surgeon Referral fromYellich I am very happy with Dr. Lee she charges a lot the services are worth it I highly recommend Dr. Lee as a very fine endodontist I was especially impressed with her knowledgeable staff, which made the process so much better than most of the other dental offices who make you "crazy " when you have no confidence in what they are doing and it makes your visit so frustrating despite the fact that your dentist may be genius-without a competent office staff, the level of stress ruins what is already an unpleasant/expensive medical treatment. Cudo's to the competent staff supporting Dr.Lee's office. They are as important to making any medical office a successful practice/conversely they can be the deciding factor as to where a patient makes the choice in choosing their medical professional. So, my advice to any doctor, dentist, etc. I don't care if you're Einstein; an incompetent staff will eventually make a patient lower their standards if you have idiots who don't provide proficient services and instill confidence in a practice and can think "outside the box" and really make decisions independently and provide patients with information vital to the patient 's care as well as their medical needs . Often they have answers that the Dr. may not be aware but a good staff member is privy to all kinds of new information which is shared by patients who have been to other procedures.word of mouth and can be passed on to patients who are looking for some medical information that just might be a route that is an alternative option to investigate!A medical waiting room can be a valuable venue for all kinds of information sharing and other information regarding results from clinical trials or medical treatments whose results have just been made public & might be worth following up. read more

I went in for a consultation and they were able to do the work right away. Dr. Le performed two root canals through my bridge saving me the cost of replacing the bridge. She was awesome. I had a #19 tooth root canal and I felt that Dr. Le and her team were really great. This process took a few visits and we definitely needed to wait for the inflammation and sensitivity to settle down. This was painful, but root canals can be. I appreciated the kindness and professionalism at Dr. Le's office. Thank you, I'm pain free and now can sleep! read more

Like the above - particularly the ____ like I need a root canal joke. Somebody needs to rewrite that one. These people are great. Dr. Le is a machine (in a good way - with a heart). The procedure was painless. It was barely even uncomfortable in a few places. My anxiety was light years past the reality...and they did quite well with that too. I am hard to anesthetize in just about every way. Dr. Le believed me and paid close attention to my any perceived discomfort even when I'd chosen to just ignore it after my initial flinch. At one point, I experienced a bit of sensation in my gum from some of the supporting hardware and after a slight reaction, she asked if I was at all uncomfortable. I said, "just a little." She backed out EVERYTHING to that point, numbed me some more and then restarted. Phew - apparently she doesn't play golf or have important things to do besides consider the well being of her patients. In 2012, who would have thought? Another thing, after years of underemployment we run on a month to month basis. Unlike other offices, Dr. Le will consider taking co-payment rather than require the full amount up front in the case of a confirmed (basically pre-approved) insurance benefit. I would enthusiastically recommend Dr. Le to anyone requiring endodontic work. read more

This whole office is wonderful so far! I was squeezed in this am with Dr Raffo (dentist- also WONDERFUL) and he diagnosed a cracked tooth. They sent over the referral to Capitola endodontics with Dr. Le and she is very professional and has great bedside manner! She was very thorough. Not only did she squeeze me in same day, but had me come back later ( at the end of HER day) to start the root canal to get me some relief tonight. Very impressed. Thank you! read more

I have so much gratitude for Dr. Le Fern. She was amazing and I was very, very very difficult. She worked fast and she was just a rock star in my eyes. Her lovely assistant Kirsten I think her name was. I might have forgotten her name but I'll never forget how sweet she was to me. The entire experience was excellent, from the pleasant reception at the front room to the 1st and 2nd appointment. I was taken in by Dr. Le as a rush referred by my dentist, I was in pain and she took me right away. I knew what to expect as I have had 3 other root canals, I was not looking forward to it. However, as I entered the waiting room I was graciously and kindly greeted at the front desk, I didn't wait long and then was seated in a very updated, high tech surgical room of which there are a few. Soon Dr. Le appeared, a very warm and comforting person who instantly engages with you with her pleasant demeanor with a full explanation of the procedure. What followed was a very fine experience. Dr. Le and her surgical support, Amanda, are a perfectly synchronized team. Dr. Le loves her business and it shows in her treatment and handling of your dental surgery. She takes the time to talk with you which helps you to relax. I gave Dr. Le 5 stars, but If there were 6 stars I would give them all to her and the very competent and supporting office staff. I don't normally complain. but I found this endo to be very rough and not gentle at all. I have had more dentistry done than anyone i know. I recently had X-rays taken that took TWO hours. I was told the apt would be thirty minutes. I paid out of pocket for X-rays and brought them for a second option to another dentist. They didn't even take out my earrings. So I spent 100 dollars are X-rays that weren't even done right. I have expressed many times my dental anxiety and just found that she is NOT gentle at ALL. I don't recommend this endo or this office. I found the entire situation completely frustrating. Bottom line is..... Not gentle and if you have any dental anxiety don't go here. You will not be happy.
