This guy. You need him on speed dial. Not for Al Capone-tax-dodging reasons, just because you want a guy on your side as your pay your hard-earned money towards our taxation nation. Make it count...but in all ways fair. The Mr. of this equation has been seeing Brandon Ferguson for a few years. Before I got married, I had the simplest tax return on Earth: earnings, 401(k), and some donations. We own our home and rental property together, but I always LITERALLY left that to Mr. Ferguson to work out. So this year, I was married (!) and had to be included in all this tax nonsense. I say nonsense, but the truth of the matter is that I'm very familiar with taxes and how they work (stoopid work). Brandon checked in with us on the regular regarding tax paperwork he needed. He was like the proverbial mother-in-law in the GOOD way; and when we figured out our final return: newly married, rental property, residence property...I was happy that he explained everything in plain English, (I could have taken more tax jargon, really!) and [he] found each exception he could, explaining what needed to be taken, etc.) THIS GUY. He's a CPA. He studied [and paid the] same amount as everybody else to gain this certification. I find it funny that ONE person complained about the price that you pay for a person that is on both your side, AND the LAW'S side of things. He's looking out for your best interest ALWAYS; and frankly, H&R Block are terrific people, but to say that you have an accountant of your own is not some kind of weird status thing, it's knowing that you have somebody who will best advise you on how get through this crazy tax world. Used to use this guy. He was very personable and did the job well. Then as another person as mentioned stopped returning communication. I wrote a few times about very important stuff over a period of a few months. Still haven't heard from him since early 2015. I found a different CPA. Not sure if he is even alive or in prison or what. You never know. He also gave me bad advice on what to do as far as moving forward with my business which has caused a massive amount of problems. I found Ferguson Tax Services thanks to Yelp and it was my first time using a CPA. My husband and I are newlyweds and have some financial investments, etc so we wanted to have someone with a sharp eye take a look so we lowered the risk of auditing. Brandon got back to me after a day or so and we set up a time for us to come in and have him take a look. The office itself was a bit of a strange setup as it's in a office park but there is a lock on the door (the kind with a keycode) and you can't get in. You kind of have to knock/jiggle the door until someone comes to let you in. Brandon took all of our forms (W-2's, 1099's, etc) and answered all of our questions (which took about an hour) and then told us that we'd be in the que of taxes and should probably take about a week to 10 days before he would get back to us. I had used an accountant before who did it on site and I left with my completed 1040 but Brandon said he'd need time to look it over and review. Being that it is busy tax season (March), it took a little over 2 weeks before we heard back from Brandon (which is understandable but also a little on the hmph side). He emailed us a summary form and setup an appointment time for us to come in and pay and get our originals back. I felt really comfortable in his skills and the knowledge he offered but the price was the one reason for the ding as it is $250 per hour which is rough. They're located in North Seattle so you'd think it'd not be more than places 'in' Seattle. read more

We had an appointment/consultation over the phone. I thought the initial consultation went well. He made it seem like he could easily help me with my taxes. I emailed him all of my documents over that same night or the next day. I followed up with the IRS as requested but ran into a roadblock. I called Brandon and left a message and emailed him with my questions and I NEVER received a callback or an email. I was referred to Brandon when I needed help getting all of my finances together in advance of my home purchase. He was nice and helpful when I first met with him and answered my emails quickly and got all of my tax stuff organized. I liked him so much that I used him again for a couple more years and referred my friends to him, too. However, a couple of years into working with him, during one tax season, he didn't return several calls or emails for months. Some of my friends said they could never get a hold of him, either. Super impressed with this gentleman! I am a small business owner and recently we took our business from a "hobby" to the "full meal deal", so to speak. I'm good at what I do, but I'm not a bookkeeper...and as everyone knows, when you are a small business, you have to learn to wear all sorts of hats. I was very nervous about our taxes this year. I was introduced to Ferguson Tax and Brandon from Yelp. I read all the reviews but I still, by nature, proceed with a bit of caution. After meeting him, my guard started going down. First, he's not a dry, boring cpa. Then you start getting the sense that he knows his stuff. Brandon has been doing an excellent job handling my family's tax returns since we returned to Seattle from the UK in 2012. He is very thorough and adept at handling complicated tax matters like foreign filings. I gave Brandon some time to return my call since it wasn't urgent). Given that CPAs have a busy season from January to April in which they must work weekends, give him the benefit of the doubt. I am quite surprised at the other ratings. I got my taxes done by him last in 2013. I felt like I qualified for my tax credits than he stated. I am an independent consultant and after talking to a couple of friends, who are also independent consultants, I realized that I was over charged and that I should have had a lot more deductions taken from my taxes. For 2014 I went to a different person and he charged me way less and also, informed me of all the deductions that I could take saving me a lot more money. For example, I pay for my own health insurance, which is deductible I learned in 2014, and Ferguson did not deduct from my taxes. I also learned that my taxes services that I payed for the previous year were deductible, he did not deduct that as well. There are more deduction that I learned about that now I will be able to keep track of for future years so that I will not be charged so much money. If you are an independent contractor I would find another person to help you because he will over charge you and you will not get all the deductions that you qualify for paying way too much money than you should be paying. read more

IRS sent me a $20,000+ tax demand on my personal filing from a previous year that I knew was wrong, but I had no idea how to explain it to IRS. I called Brandon Ferguson (from Yelp recommendations) and told him what I thought the problem was and he agreed. I emailed all my information to him, he contacted them on my behalf, and within weeks I received a letter from IRS rescinding their demand. What a relief!
