Treasure Valley Kitchen and Bath

Treasure Valley Kitchen and Bath

Tony from Treasure Valley Kitchen and Bath did a good job on our kitchen. We did have to work with…read morehim quite a bit, but having done a kitchen in a prior home we were ready for that. His first design for our kitchen was unworkable, but with help from my wife the design ended up being solid. I offered to write a review on his site, but he didn't take me up on it, I think because I had a few reservations about the project and wanted to discuss them as well. He was unavailable any Friday after about 11:00 AM. Period. End of that story. It became kind of a joke between my wife and me. Attention: Be sure to see samples of cupboards before you buy them. The outsides of the ones we selected are very nice, and when one of them was cracked, he did a good job of replacing it for us. The cupboard depth is barely adequate however, and that's on us. We didn't measure samples or carefully look at specs. They are shallow. We even had to get special-order Lazy Susans for spices because a standard size won't fit. In our floor cupboards, our platters only fit if we place them in just the right spot or the doors don't close completely. Again, our bad. Measure your dishes and don't assume they'll all fit. Even bags of fatty salty snacks have to go in just the right way or the doors don't close. His contractors were hit-and-miss: * His wallboard guy was amazing. He was fast and his work was impeccable. * His electrician was good, but we had to clean up after him. * His plumber I had to stay on top of. * Although his granite company had great stone, the installers did a pretty amateur job. One of them was a real pro and did a great job on his half of the granite. The others were absolute rookies. When grinding down a seam (which if it were installed properly in the first place would have been perfect, needing no grinding) they ran cooling water all over our brand new cupboard doors, as if it didn't matter. One can still feel where that seam is, and that is not really acceptable. Then, when installing the water features on the sink portion, they cut the holes so close to the size of the fixtures and on such an angle that the escutcheons barely covered the openings. I mean: by maybe two millimeters. Maybe. I was panicked, because the stone was so beautiful and they were so close to just butchering it that I could hardly stand it. The designing of the stone (how it was cut) is beautiful. Unless you know exactly where to look on part of the job you cannot find the seam. The stone has a lot of movement in the grain and one would think the seam would be hard to conceal. It is almost invisible. * The fancy sink we bought came cracked (or was damaged by the plumber) and this didn't get caught until install time. Disaster. This set the whole project back three weeks, because the company he was working with would not expedite the delivery unless I signed off that I was responsible for any damage in shipment. Are you kidding me? That was outrageous, and I wish he could have put a little pressure on them to do a better job but he either couldn't or wouldn't. So: inspect your purchased components as soon as they arrive. * His floor guys had to come back and redo the finishing on the wood because it had several problems. In the end, in one of our closets, the varnish looks like someone spilled a can of Coke on the floor and never cleaned it up. It's varnish, but it has that look. I decided to let that and several other small issues go because it's just a floor after all. It will get beaten up over time, and I didn't want to make a huge deal over it at that point. The worst part is in a closet and nobody will see it anyway (except me every time I open the closet). Having said that, they did a floor-match on part of the floor that previously was carpeted, and they put in new wood flooring. That part was outstanding. It looks like it was part of the original install. So they were part excellent and part just ok. * His cabinet guy was terrific, and did a beautiful job. * His appliance company was great. We bought Wolf components: a 36" gas cooktop, a standard convection oven, and a steam oven. The steam oven is amazing. Get one. I think his problem was that there is so much construction going on here that reliable contractors are hard to secure. Overall I'm satisfied with the job, it wasn't cheap, and all in all we could have done much worse. Thanks Tony. Thumbs up.

They were great to work with, even with the normal snags that would come along with doing a new kitchen. Bryan and his guys made sure everything was right. Highly recommend. Pricing was great. You'll notice his business only shows 5 star reviews, which is one of the reasons I chose him. He represented himself as a general contractor, but is not licensed as such, which Idaho law allows, only requiring a registration under an LLC, and represented his business as Custom BATH Solutions, but this is apparently a DBA under Custom HOME Solutions LLC. I did not find out until months later, much after the water damage caused by his subcontractor BUSS Mechanical occurred (which they paid for via subrogation), that his COI showed this other LLC name only, but the scope of contract I signed only showed CBS, not CHS. After the water damage incident, my last email with Mr. Vycital around Sept 2025, I had asked him to remove the plumbing charge of 1k for the MB vanity sink where the plumber installed a stop valve incorrectly causing the water damage, and a portion of the MB shower fixture plumbing charge be removed due to incorrect installation which the new plumber, post water damage, Expert Plumbing had to fix for them. Also, a portion of one large slab of quartz be removed due to wasteful use of it by his first slab subcontractor. He confirmed the total I was asking be removed and said he would speak with Buss Mechanical and get back to me. Instead, in Nov a day before Thanksgiving, I was served with a demand letter from his lawyer for the full amount I still owed, including late fees, unless I signed an agreement that included an NDA clause; then they would remove the amount I had asked be removed from the final bill. I had my lawyer ask them to remove the NDA clause and provide lien waivers, and I would pay them the FULL amount instead. I then submitted a consumer complaint on him to the AG's office and my first complaint to the DOPL. Mr. Vycital's lawyer then replied, saying if we didn't remove the consumer complaint, he would sue me. I later received a bullying call from his lawyer, Mr. Arkoosh, while I was displaced from my home for a week because the hardwood floors on the first floor, which were water damaged from this, were being restored, again threatening to sue me if I didn't sign their NDA agreement and remove the consumer complaint. I refused to do either, and have been in a legal battle with them since even until now, just because I won't agree to an NDA. The DOPL dismissed my first complaint and isn't even required by law to let me know what they did or why they dismissed it so quickly. The AG Consumer Complaint Office replied with, "We have closed your consumer complaint against CBS," including a reply letter CBS sent them negating everything without further inquiry. I then submitted a second complaint to the DOPL three weeks ago, which they said was allowed, but I have still not heard anything from them. I no longer trust either of these state offices which offer no transparency to consumers, and which just put on a front, from my experience with them. I am attaching a link below to my full review (2 posts) on NEXT DOOR with all the details as they happened, if you would like to read it and learn.*** When hiring a GC for any remodel, make sure the COI has all business names listed on it including the DBA, ask them to name you as an Additional Insured on it and get an updated ACCORD Certificate. PURCHASE A SURETY BOND! Be wary of promised completion time on the contract, mine stated 3 weeks for all 3 bathrooms & laundry room floor, and at 6 weeks they hadn't finished the one they started on! https://nextdoor.com/profile/01n94hyknMYyks9cX

Big Wood Cabinets - Smoky Brown Cabinets

Due to inept communication, the slab of granite we had picked out somehow ended up in someone else's kitchen. We had already waited several weeks longer than we were supposed to originally, and now....... We'll add an additional 10 weeks. We had an appointment for their install crew to come and install the counters. That was between 9-10 in the morning. After waiting the entire day with not do much as a phone call, we decided to give up and go eat. As we were leaving, they're install pulled up in front of our home. The two guys got out of the truck and said we're here to install your counters. This was about 6:30 in the p.m. When I asked you to where the hell they had been and why we receive no notification they said that they were in McCall finishing up a job and that they were busy. They figured that we would be around when they showed up and that we wanted to counters installed bad enough that we would like to go ahead and do it. I told them to pack her crap up and get out of there and reschedule, we were done for the day. Finally the day of installation came. After several hours of working on putting the counters in the kitchen, they had left telling us the job was finished. Standing in the kitchen looking down on the countertops I about fell over. Being a contractor I have an eyeball for lines and such, however, one does not need to be a Carpenter to see how bad of a screwup this was. What was supposed to be a 90° angle cut ended up being a 97° angle cut. When we spoke to Big Wood Cabinets they sent the rep out to take a look. Of course she tried to come up with all kinds of roundabout excuses and reasons why it was the way it was the bottom line it was screwed up. He was Going to check in to finding out about having it replaced. After several days of negotiating back-and-forth he asked if we would be willing to except the countertop as it was and reduce the price for doing so. We agreed telling him that we would like at least a 20% reduction on the price of a granite slab that was miss cut and looks well looks terrible. That was agreed. Looking further into it not only was the countertop miss kit for the cabinets were installed just a little bit out of square as you can see in the pictures. These guys are supposed to be professionals?During the installation process of the cabinets, we had noticed flaws in the faces of the drawers and cabinet doors. Some were warped, some had chips taken out of them. Every time we inquired about such we were told to go ahead and wait until the end and we would do a final walk-through and then submit a claim under the warranty for the damage pieces and they would replace those parts. Well 7-8 months past the finish time of the cabinet installation and countertops we still have received no discount on the countertop after paying full price and we have received no parts or pieces to replace those damaged ones or defective ones. When calling Big Wood Cabinets we are told basically to shove it and they weren't going to do anything about it. You can see in the pictures how bad some of the damage was. Would you accept this in your home for all the money they charge? Wells Farfound one of our brand-new kitchen towels watered up underneath one of the cabinets looking like this. Bottom line these guys don't stand behind their word for a damn thing. They are liars and they're cheats. Not the kind of business dealing I would expect from a fellow native Idahoan.
