We went during the week and stayed in a cabin, and I think it was quieter during the week. The cabin we stayed in had dated decor but it was fine - had a bed, had a small kitchen (although the stove/oven looked unsafe) and a small sitting area. Plus a loft that my daughter loved. I told my husband to compare it to tent camping, not a resort haha. But the thing that makes this campsite is all the family activities they have! Playgrounds, a pool, a train, putt-putt, an ice cream shop plus a schedule od activities like crafts and games throughout the day. A great place for a relatively inexpensive family get away!

It was a bit of a drive from the heart of Ithaca but, worth it to see the beautiful namesake waterfall. As rain was expected, we decided to skip the longer hike to the lower falls and went to the upper overlook which was beautiful with a nice visitor area and clean/clear walking paths. It was 1 mile each way (from the parking lot to near the base of the falls). The trail was relatively flat and shaded for parts of it (but not all). There were a few benches along the way to take breaks, and water at the beginning of the trail to fill up your water bottle. It costs $10/car to get into the state park but you can use that ticket to get into other state parks on the same day without paying again, which would be great to visit nearby Buttermilk Falls and other parks.

It was the best midday activity for our group of 8. We parked at the upper parking lot and so the hike was just down down down many steps! Note to those with ACL, foot, or other ailments, I would have chosen to do this hike in reverse had I known that was an option. I have a much easier time going up with my pain in the foot issues. That said, the hike was still manageable and I was in minimal pain the next day. We opted to send half the group in a rideshare to pickup the cars from the upper trail parling lot while the rest of us walked to get ice cream down the road. This was a fantastic idea! All in all it was a great adventure and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The views are so stunning!

The grounds are immaculate, the owners are genuinely friendly, and it's obvious they take tremendous pride in maintaining the property. Everything is spotless, the sites are level and well-appointed, and the utility hookups are thoughtfully placed and easy to use. Since our last visit two years ago, they've added a fitness center and community room, both of which are great improvements. The location couldn't be better, right in the heart of Finger Lakes wine country and within walking distance of two wineries. It's hard to beat. So why four stars instead of five? The reservation system. When you book, you don't actually reserve a specific site, you reserve a site type. If you want to guarantee the site you've been shown or assigned, you have to pay an additional "site lock" fee. Unfortunately, I didn't realize just how much that mattered. We booked our stay in May for a July visit. For the next two months, every confirmation and piece of correspondence from the resort indicated we would be in Site 61. Naturally, we assumed that was our site. We arrived for the 2:00 p.m. check-in at 2:01, right behind another RV. To my surprise, they were given Site 61, and we were reassigned at the last second. Ordinarily, I wouldn't care. A campsite is a campsite...unless the replacement site happens to be directly beside the dog park. My wife and I are simply not dog people. We don't dislike responsible pet owners, but we prefer not to spend our vacation listening to constant barking. Instead, we were serenaded by barking throughout the day, barked at whenever we sat outside our RV, and awakened around 7:00 a.m. on most mornings by dogs in the park next door. To the owners' credit, they did offer to move us after two days when another site became available. I genuinely appreciate that. But anyone who RVs knows that once you've spent the time leveling, setting up, connecting utilities, arranging the patio, and getting settled, the last thing you want to do is tear everything down just to move across the campground. The whole experience felt a lot like flying these days: if you don't pay extra to choose your seat, you'll somehow end up in the middle seat, at the back of the plane, next to the bathroom. Technically you still got what you paid for, but not exactly the vacation experience you were expecting. Going forward, I'll gladly pay the site lock fee because now I know how the system works. But I also think the campground could do a better job making it crystal clear that the site shown in your confirmations is not actually your reserved site unless you've paid to lock it in. That would save guests from the confusion and disappointment we experienced. Despite this issue, this remains one of the nicest RV resorts we've visited, and we'll absolutely be back.

FLRV opened in the last couple years and is a great addition to the camping options around the Finger Lakes. Located about 1/3 of the way up the eastern side of Seneca Lake, the location provides easy access to the wineries, distilleries, and breweries along the lake. This is a family owned campground and the owners were very friendly and took pride in their business. Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies are included at check-in.  The campground sites are very large and spread out. Being a newer campground, the trees are small, but that did not take away from the experience. Easy maneuverability, great wifi and water pressure, along with level sites make it a great place to stay. The bath house is emmaculate and rivals those at Fort Wilderness Resort. Amenities are minimal (no pool, playground, or golf carts), but they are bookended by two wineries with walking paths from the campground. Due to the minimal amenities, it is very quiet and relaxing especially in the evenings sitting around the campfire.  I look forward to returning to the Finger Lakes RV park as this is easily one of our top campgrounds when needing to relax.
