I brought a car for my daughter to commute to college. I paid the full asking price in promised from Bob to fix a few rust spots, paint peeling, replaced battery. He asked for $200 deposit, which I gave him. I spoke with Phil (sales man) a few times on the phone to check on status, Phil's promised that the garage is taking really good care of the car, it's getting a check over and they'll get the stickers on and I'll have the car all detailed and in great condition. I came back a week later to pick up the car. Phil didn't offer to show me the car first, just wanted me to sign the paper work, I asked to look at the car, looks like one rust spot and the paint peeling was taken care of, I figure we can live with the other rust spot and I'll just pay for my own battery. Inside the car still looked the same, so much for the detail work. I did notice the window on the driver side doesn't close right. Phil offer to have it look at while we go get the plates. I was told by Phil, once paper works are signed, I'll need to go to Exeter, NH to get a temp license plate. After I signed the paper work, Phil said he just found out Exeter doesn't give out temp plate anymore and I need to drive back to my town and get the permanent plate and come back. Got the plates and came back that afternoon to pick up the car at the auto shop, the guy there said, Phil and some other guy came by to look at the window, but he wasn't sure if they did anything to it or not. Of course the windows was not fix, and now the locks doesn't work with the remote or from inside the car, the corner of the drivers door, looks like someone has broken into the car, the window frame is broken, ok now this is a safety issue to me, I always tell my daughters to drive with their car lock at all time. I called Phil and told him I am driving this car back to their dealer lot and want them to look at the lock. My husband drove the car, not even 2 minutes, he tells me the engine light is on. Talked to Bob on the phone and told him my issues right now is with the Engine light and the locks that I want him to look at before I take the car. He assures me he will get the engine light and the lock fix. Bob called me the next day and told me he wants me to pay for half of the cost for him to get these item fix, I wasn't happy, but I just wanted this done and get on with my busy life. He told me I need to pay him another $200, I said ok. I work full time with 3 kids, I do not have a lot of free time to spare, my husband and I agree once the car is fixed, we'd pick up the car and take it and we can deal with the minor stuff on our own. We just want to be done with Bob and Phil. I asked Bob for itemized parts and items that he had to purchase to get the car fixed; he said he will get that for me. Came back a few days later to pick up the car, no itemized receipt, no inspection stickers, Bob is not there again. Spoke to Bob on the phone, he said he'll get the itemized receipt for me and proceeded to tell me what they've replaced and that it cost him over $450 and I got a really good deal by paying only $200. He also told me that the parts they've replaced required me to drive the car for 150 miles before a sticker can be put on it, after that I can take it to any auto shop and have the sticker put on. In the mean time I've already made an appointment with my regular mechanic to bring the car in, on the way there, the engine light came on again. After $750 later, parts and labor to replace Belts and engine mounts, oil change and host of other things. We brought the car home with inspection sticker on. The mechanic told us the engine light may come on again and they'll probably have to learn it. True to his words, not a week later the engine light came on again, my mechanic told us, it is something with the transmission, it could be anywhere from $200 to $2000 and wanted to know what Bob had replaced and if the parts was under warranty or what exactly did they worked on. I didn't want to deal with Bob again, I thought I was done with him. I called Bob told him about the engine light and wanted to know what exactly he had replaced. He told me they replaced the Speed Sensor and proceeded to tell me there is nothing wrong with the car and that I have a great car, there's nothing wrong with having an engine light on in a used car, he said more than half of his car on the lot have engine light on, he told me I should ignore it. I told him I can't ignore it, my daughter is driving the car, I don't want her stuck in the middle of no where. He also told me, if I'm not happy with the car to go and trade it in. Today, I still have issues with the car the engine light had came back on again. I am disappointed at our system, that someone like this can get away with treating people this way and still runs a business and make money off of innocent people. I am writing this to voice my concern about my dealing with owner Bob Kalil and Phil the salesman read more
