Just brought my family there today. It is very true that their phone line is very very very hard to reach. I had to call several times to get hold of someone and I felt very lucky already. The staffs were neither rude or passionate; they are just working there. Whoever responsible for making the appointment needs to reduce the appointment slots per hr. I am aware that occasionally they accept work-ins for urgent patients. So you need to accommodate these extra show-ups accordingly, not by delaying everyone's appointment by hours. We had to wait one hrs even though we had appointment and I overheard other were waiting for 1 and 1/2 hrs +. We didn't see Dr. Yip and I don't even know which one of the staff was Dr. Yip. We were there for results and was seen for less than 5 minutes. Everything was OK, recheck next year..... I was glad everything was ok but you could have done this in a phone call that would last less than 2 minutes. I know money is very important to keep the clinic running but quality matters too. I might have to consider switching doctor because the wait is ridiculously long and you can't get hold of anyone when you have urgent matter to request. I don't understand how Dr. Yip's office is getting those low star reviews. He to my family is the best doctor on the earth! I have been taking my mom to his office for the past 2 years for bladder cancer. He's the most caring, knowledge, and skilled doctor! He's always so calm and knowledgeble, and smilling : ) If it wasn't with Dr. Yip, I don't know how we could have made this through after knowing my mom was diagnosied with cancer, something we never thought would reach us. He guided us, like the only light, in this long, difficult journey. It's imperative you find a doctor you can trust and cares about you, we're so lucky to have found Dr. Yip. His office is always crowded but it's worth the wait. He's so busy but he makes every effort to see more patients. After a super busy day he would even call back if you have questions. This is a horrible practice. They continually overbook appointments and then lie about why they're running behind that day. I've had to wait between 1.5 and 3 hours past my appointment time. Every other patient there has said the exact same thing. They are completely unapologetic and unprofessional. Stay away. read more

Reckless, mean-spirited, childish, and irresponsible staff. Be prepared to wait at least 3 hours with an appointment. The staff are not trained, or, just don't care about you. They are sure to let you know that you don't matter. Be very, very careful when you schedule any follow-up. The lazy, irresponsible idiots schedule a follow-up three months later, when the Doctor himself said next week. This became a blame or a fight session between the three idiots who either did not bother to read the notes, or just weren't paying attention at all (I suspect the later). I had to point out what the Doctor wrote, that the follow-up was next week, not three months later. For my dad's situation that could have killed him. Then, the blame session, or fight, began. The three idiots bickered in front of me. "We are not responsible for scheduling". "Oh that was so and so. I just got back from lunch". "Well the note weren't clear" ???? "We can't do next week" (ah, but you DID) During the 4 hour ordeal (we had to wait 3 1/2 hours), the staff kept repeating this to people needing their help. "We are NOT responsible................................." Absolutely. Unbelievable. The worst part is, these idiots project their attitude onto you. It's one thing to be busy, another to throw attitude at those they are supposed to be providing care. I guess it's only about the money, for this operation. Believe every bad reviews you read. I got a referral for my wife's family doctor to see this doctor but I have made more than twenty eight calls in two days still cannot get in touch with his office. They don't answer their calls or have a phone mail so you can leave a message. That is very bad customer service. It is a waste of time trying to contact their office. I had to call back to my wife's HMO doctor to get another referral but then we wasted 2 to 3 days. We filed a complaint to her HMO doctor and let them know about the problem and I hope the HMO office will not refer anymore patients to this doctor. read more

This "Doctor" was belittling his technician/nurse right in front of me during my whole appointment. Dr. Yip was also impatient, gruff, and botched the insertion of my catheter so badly that I ended up having to go to the emergency room later that evening. Steer clear of this urologist and this office. read more

Dr. Yip is great, but there are a lot of questionable and lazy staff members. I called in to ask one of the nurses about some paperwork for my mom before her appointment. It took me three tries before I got a not-busy signal and finally got through on the line. 15 minutes of waiting on the phone, a male receptionist or nurse finally picks up. I ask him if he could please check my mom's file, but the entire time he's just yelling, "WHO? WHO?" in my ear. After he finally gets my question, he doesn't even bother checking my mom's file. Instead he LIES to my face, saying that she doesn't need that paperwork for her appointment. I knew he was lying because my mom is a regular patient here and that's how the procedure works for all of her appointments. After arguing with him for five minutes and calling him out on his bs, I got annoyed and hung up. Called back the next day, got a female nurse, and she quickly checked my mom's file for the paperwork I needed. The staff here can be either really nice and helpful or incredibly lazy and argumentative. Make sure you call long before your appointment if you need something from them. read more

Dr. Yip is a very experienced and skilled doctor. I work for a company that are affiliated with him and he is regarded as the top Urologist in our network. There is a reason why Dr. Yip's office is so crowded and it's worth the wait. Most patients would rather wait and be seen by him than go to another doctor. A medical provider should be evaluated on Yelp or any other rating system for his medical diagnosis, procedures and outcomes, not because it's crowded and the staff is less than ideal. The one star ratings in his page must be re-evaluated to reflect the Doctor's performance not to be mixed in with the facility itself. You are not evaluating the facility here. The environment and wait times in our Doctor's offices are as good as it can be to serve the denser population of SGV at an ASAP basis. Our doctors do not schedule you far into future to accommodate lower wait times because we do not like patients who need care to be waiting. That in my opinion is the best approach. Would you rather wait 2 months or 2 hours to be seen? If you really need care, you will wait the two hours. Even in emergency rooms, if we really need care, we all wait patiently. That does not mean that all emergency facilities should be rated one star. Please be more accurate in your ratings of the Doctors themselves, not the facility of operation. Urologists don't get better than Dr. Yip. You can rate the facility separately but Dr. Yip is solid. read more

I would give the office a negative star if I could. The office and doctors are profit-driven, not patient-care focused based on patient wait time and quadruple booked appointments. If the doctor could not see the patients as promised at their scheduled time, then they should not be booking so many patients at one time slot!!!! The place has zero respect for people's time. I usually have to call 10-20 times at different times before a clerk is unwillingly to answer the phone and when ask to see if they have a different number to reach at with my average 15 calls to talk to someone and she sounded like what's wrong with calling 15-20 times to schedule an appointment (that's just so wrong with a doctor's office, the patient should reach the staff with maximum of 2-3 attempts) and my experience with other offices were reasonable. They offered me an early morning walk-in appointment even when I called to make appointment over a month ahead. The office is insanely overbooked, how can they schedule a walk in appointment when patients call 1-2 month ahead. Today I showed up at 9:20 for my appointment at 9:45 and they say I need to wait for 2 hours before I can be seen. They gave me the walk-in appointment over one month ago and they cannot see me for 2 hours. I told them I will go home and they will call me when ready and it will take me 20 minutes to drive one way. After 4 hours at 1:40 pm, the receptionist called me and said I can come in knowing that I been waiting since 9:45 am this morning. I came to office at 1:55 pm and they asked me to pay $65 copay in cash and I waited for 30 more minutes and I impatiently and angrily told the receptionist that I have been waiting since 9 am this morning and she yelled back "you went home, you didn't wait in the office". WTF, I woke up early on my only day off of the week for a stupid walk-in appointment they assigned me and drove to office and they couldn't see me for 2 hrs. So I drove home with a 40 minute drive for nothing. I came again in the afternoon when they called me after 4 hrs when I last came and they still couldn't see me right away. The receptionist is rude and don't respect patient's time and understand patient's frustration. I waited half of the day for a 5-10 minute doctor consultation with a high copay, not worth it!!! Plus, the co-pay must be in cash or personal check and no credit cards are accepted (makes people wonder if they are paying taxes properly). Finally, a doctor who I did not request when making appointment came and saw me at 2:50 pm. I specifically requested Dr. Yip when making my appointment and the clerk told me I will see him but a different doctor who I have no background knowledge about came in and saw me by asking few questions and didn't even really ask about my symptoms thoroughly. No urine dip was collected at the office, no lab paper was given. He told me walk-ins appointment don't get to Dr. Yip because he is busy and sees about 100 patients a day!!!! How was that my business, I only knew that I requested him and he didn't see me!!!! That means Dr. Yip sees a patient every 5 minutes or less in 8 hour shift. What kind of quality care is this??? Money-money-money, that's all what the place is about!!!! This is just so ridiculous and insane! The doctor needs to hire more providers and staff to run this place more professionally and effectively. I can see no hope in changes because this place has been running chaos for years (based on previous patient's review). I wonder how come they don't get in trouble in terms of patient safety! It sure feels like a crazy zoo when you arrive at the office. I feel bad for those fragile elderly people who have been waiting for 2-6 hours before they can be seen by someone!!! My dad had an appointment at 12:15 and I left my work to bring him in. We came in around 12. No one in the office. There was one lady from different office and she said that the doctor and his staff are not here they will be here at 1:00pm. We never get any call from the office about rescheduling an appointment. I called their office number and it showed that the line is busy which means they probably disconnect their phone so no one could call... Very very unprofessional. Anyway we waited until they showed up and than waited some more, then waited again until 2:49 they called his name. That's around 2 1/2 hours after our appointment time. I actually worked here for about 2 months & it was the worst! I love helping patients but with such overbooking of patients we were constantly backed up.. (there are only 6 patient rooms) ..which led to patients waiting 2+hrs (if they had appointments) or at least a good 4+hrs for a walk-in! Too many patients + not enough appointment slots = overworked staff! The receptionists believe that it is their name on the door & need some serious customer service training. Only time they had a smile on their face was when the drug reps would bring food or coffee for the staff. Dr. Yip's office is excellent. My mom to his office for the past two months for Kidney duct tumor cancer. He arranges immediately to do the surgery for my mom, the doctor name is Michael Phung M.D. He is a capable doctor and compassionate, intelligent, hardworking. I highly recommend him! He tried to make the best idea and surgical planning for my mom, and completed this perfect complex surgery. My mother successfully removed the tumor and saved the kidney. I don't know how we could thank for doctor. He supports us, we're so lucky to have found Dr. Michael Phung that can trust and cares about you. The office is always busy but it's worth the wait. Dr. Yip 's office is very professional. The doctor of the translation assistant is also very enthusiastic and answers many questions! I felt I received EXCELLENT care at Dr. Yip office and their staff. I highly recommend. I hope I never see them again, but I would if I had to. I felt Dr. Lee and Dr. Yip explained to me everything I needed to know about my kidney stone issue. I visited their office 3 times in 2 1/2 months. Yes, the office is small Yes, the wait is long If you can avoid Mondays and Wednesday I would. That's their walk-in days. I had an appointment on a Monday and my wait time was 2 hours. I came on Wednesday as a walk-in, my wait time was 3 hours. On the Monday and Wednesday I was there it was crazy! Two doctors and 8 or so support staff. They running around trying to get to patients. So yes, there is a lot going on. The negative reviews I read, I believe they are not intentionally giving rude service, but might have been due to high case volume. Here is what I did to make the wait time bearable. They actually don't want you to waiting in the hall way, so the receptionist will take your phone number and text you (although I would not completely rely on that). Here is what I did, I asked how long, the receptionist will give you an estimate. Grab some lunch or whatever or take nap in the car. It's better than sitting in the hallway. Come back about half hour before that estimated time (make sure to tell them you're back) and wait the rest of the time. I know it's not the best solution, but make its bearable. If you have elderly parents, see if you can check in without making them go up. I went back on a Thursday morning, and it was much calmer, saw me within 20 minutes. So I eventually went into the ER (at Garfield Medical Center), and had to get the stone removed. Dr. Lee (Dr. Yip associate) was excellent. Every nurse, that found out I was going to have surgery with Dr. Lee all said he was excellent surgeon. By the way, I felt the care at Garfield Medical Center was also excellent. As far as the "experience" goes it was okay, it's definitely not a day spa. But I will take the excellent medical care above being comfortable any day. read more

Dr. Yip is an amazing doctor who works really hard to see every patient. Even those who didn't make an appointment. People are complaining how it is crowded, this is evidence how great of a doctor he is. He will never turn away a patient and will go beyond to help anybody. Do surgery on his day off and making sure all patient are treated. Dr Lee is younger but experience as well. You come here for the doctor. Not for the receptionist. The ladies are trying to do their job and some people won't cooperate. 100% recommend for urologist. read more

The single star is for Dr. Yip's staff, which unfortunately contributes greatly to the overall visit experience with him. Dr. Yip is actually pretty nice and personable, he really puts you at ease. But his office staff is a totally different matter. They are HORRIBLE. Unbelievably rude, completely lacking any degree of patient care and professionalism. Probably the worst medical staff I've ever encountered. I've seen them become vocally aggressive towards elderly patients just because the person couldn't answer a question right away. During one of our appointments, because it was later in the day (a time slot given to us by THEM, btw), we were treated like pariahs. As if we were being punished because we dared come at such a late time (again, I must reiterate, the appointment time was assigned by THEM). The doctor himself was completely affable and didn't seem to mind at all, but his staff (especially this younger burly Asian guy whose name I wish I remembered to get) displayed the crappiest attitude towards us. People usually have to seek out GI doctors because they are not feeling well, so to be faced with this sort of treatment at the doctor's front desk is extremely disappointing and off-putting. The call-in experience is no better; the staff is generally rude on the phone too. I always cringe when I have to call in to make an appointment because I know it won't be a pleasant experience. I don't understand how Dr. Yip chooses his staff, but I really question the qualifications of these people. They are a really bad reflection on him and that's a real shame because I've heard good things about Dr. Yip and I do like him as a doctor, but I could never recommend him to anyone just because I know what people will be in store for when they have to deal with his staff members. We showed up for a 3:30pm appointment at 3:00pm. The waiting room was full with 20 people in it and 10 people were standing and waiting in the hallway. People were saying they had been waiting since 1:30pm. We didn't see the doctor until 4:30pm. This scheduling of patients is an absolute disrespect of patients' time and shows that Dr. Yip's only concern is $$$$ and not treating his patients. And Dr. Yip can get away with this because all of the people waiting were elderly and non-English speakers. So he just takes advantage of them and the fact that don't have recourses to complain. It's true what all the other reviews say about the receptionists - they are rude, impatient and inconsiderate. The waiting room and patient consult room was disgustingly dirty - there are stains on the walls and hair in the corners of the room. read more

I wish I would of read the review for the Monterey Park Office earlier but from the information I had he was not coming up. Felix C. Yip is the name I had without the "ming" so I guess that makes all the difference when looking him up. This Dr. also works out of West Covina at 2707 E. Valley BL. # 106 but from what I know is only there once a month and only before 11 A.M which is almost impossible to see him unless you have months to wait. So my review is based off of this office. The office in West Covina I thought was pretty nice and clean but waiting room is extremely small so on a busy day it can get crammed and difficult to maneuver around especially if you are in a wheel chair but ya make the best of it, what else are you going to do =). Some of the staff was not very personable and mostly Asian so sometimes their accent is heavy and difficult to understand and sometimes they can come across rude due to lack of friendliness and patience when doing their job. The call-in experience is no better; the staff generally comes across rude on the phone too and depending on who answers, their English can be difficult to understand. Also if there are any tests that need to be done even as simple as a urine test you have to go to the nearest Quest Lab which can be a hassle. Dr. Yip seemed nice, I just wish I could of understood what the man was saying better. For me, his English was difficult to understand unless I listened intently to every word and had him repeat what he was saying. I'm sure if you speak the language than it probably would be fine. I just had left feeling confused and not completely understanding what Dr. Yip said or wanted to do which is frustrating. He seems to have good credentials otherwise. read more
