The staff is wonderful. I don't have much stamina for looking for coordinating pieces, and even…read moreless stamina for trying things on, and the staff do all the searching, online and off, to help me find lovely items. These clothes, while pricey, last forever. I consider them an investment :)

I want people to know that the founder of this company has stated that the unacceptably 'sheer'…read morefabric of recent products is merely a sign that the consumer is too large to fit into them (he says the same of the recent pilling of fabric that never happened when the company first started). [The company has come under fire lately for the poor quality of its products]. He also has stated that he is not interested in selling to anyone who is larger than a size 12, clearly sending a message to the majority of Canadian women (the average size is 14) that they are 'not fit enough' to wear clothing to supposedly get 'fit' in. So, in essence, if you shop here, you are supporting a company whose founder blames his own mistakes in judgement on women who are larger than a size 12 for his products' inadequacies. Guess what? Women who are size 14 can read and we also can stop shopping at his stores. I have certainly made that decision. SEE: http://bc.ctvnews.ca/lululemon-founder-blames-women-s-bodies-for-pants-problems-1.1531351 If you care about women's rights and about body image issues, shopping here is like shooting yourself and your values in the foot, so to speak. In the past, I have purchased products from this local retailer because my daughters wanted them. I once asked a woman there to hold a $150 jacket until I could come back a few hours later and get it for my daughter, who was with me at the time. It was to be a Christmas present and I didn't want to spoil the surprise. The cashier was snotty and said that they did not 'hold' things for people. The way she said it made me feel like she didn't think I was really going to buy it. Nice! :( I did come back the next day and buy it, but have NEVER shopped there again. There are a lot of great sportswear companies to buy from in Canada. Lululemon is no longer a positive store, or a positive company. [Shopping nearly anywhere else would be better than Lululemon.] Do you really want to spend your money at a place where the founder states that they are not in the business of selling to women "whose thighs rub together"(as if our thighs are the REASON his clothing sucks). Insulting women's bodies is the wrong way to counter complaints about products that have been recalled due to quality problems. Don't give them another dollar of your money.

I've been going to this place off and on for a few years now. Some items are very expensive and…read moreothers are of great value. You need to watch what you buy, but you can get some great stuff in here for a pretty good price. The stationary is fantastic. They have cute notebooks and pens which I go through like crazy. They're usually about $2-3 dollars and come in some really cool designs. The best part about this place is the items they have for sale. It's tough to find a comprehensive collection of Asian products in this town. Midori has tons of Japanese and Korean items. It's mostly stationary, makeup, bags, plushies, jewelry, and home décor. They have tons of great gift options that you won't find anywhere else. The staff have been polite with me. They seem to keep the place pretty clean and wipe things down after use. They don't offer help or anything, but that doesn't brother me as an introvert. You don't really go for the service. You go for what they have for sale. You could probably find better Asian stores in Toronto or Ottawa but for Kingston, this is a pretty good spot.

Context for this review: I visit a lot of character and stationery stores in Toronto. Also, I am…read morebig on customer service - the real reason for the fail rating behind this review. OK - so as I've mentioned, I frequent a lot of stores similar to this one. Some are pricey, some are awesome values. This is definitely on the pricey end of the range, so no redeeming stars to be had there. Yes, it's on the tourist trap strip, but given that they're big enough to have online sales, and that the prices were beyond what I see in Toronto, doesn't help my rating. The range of merchandise is pretty good - lots of harder to find, more unusual pieces like calligraphy collections and the like, and a few glass pen selections. Daytimer and diary selection was pretty thin. Better range of plain sketch books and one or two music book choices. For the plush character merchandise, it wasn't so great - some more recognized Pokemon characters and a lot of generic animals, fruits, etc. There's some jewellery, backpacks, etc. Not much in terms of housewares/practical items like mugs, eating ware (except for portable), boxes, etc. The store was not laid out very well and the merchandise needs to be hunted through for differing varieties of some of the items. My hindsight brings up a dark and dingy image compared to the cute and bright logo on the outside of the store. Last but not least nail in this review coffin, I was actually insulted by the staff's attitude and remark while cashing out. Not only could I sense the attitude in their down-the-nose gaze, which was chilly enough, I got the message loud and clear that working here is all about them when I made my usual request not to have the 2 pieces of receipts stapled together. "Well, our policy is that returns need them both, so I (underline, bold and capitalize that "I") need it [sic] stapled." Okay, YOU need them stapled. WE won't be back. Not in the store and won't bother looking online, either.
