I am very disappointed with my experience at Feeders Pet Supply today. We called at 4:17 PM to ask if the dog wash was still open. The employee on the phone, who already had a poor attitude, told us we had 20 minutes. We took that at face value, knowing it was Labor Day, and drove straight there. It only took us 7 minutes to arrive, and we walked in at 4:25 PM. To our surprise, they denied us service, saying the dog wash closed at 4:30. Not only were we misinformed over the phone, but we were also treated very rudely in person. If we were told honestly that they were closing soon and wouldn't take anyone else, we would have understood and not wasted our time. Instead, we were given inaccurate information, then turned away, and treated disrespectfully in the process. This was extremely unprofessional and upsetting. We have a 19 year-old leopard gecko that primarily eats crickets. When we moved here three years ago, we checked out several pet stores in town (including one very popular store in Old Town) and found none of them have the quality of crickets that Soldan's does. Half of the crickets from the other store would die within a day despite being placed in a clean enclosure with proper food and water. I will buy two dozen crickets from Soldan's and the majority will survive for weeks. Highly recommend getting your reptile food here! read more

*UPDATE* I was able to speak with the manager, Zane, of this location. He was very kind and processed the return. I give HIM 5+ stars. Very unfortunate that he is leaving the industry after 9 yrs working for the Soldans family! ***BE ADVISED THAT SOLDANS IS NO LONGER A LOCALLY OWNED BUSINESS WITH CUSTOMER-CENTERED RETURN POLICIES. THEY ARE NOW CORPORATE. My experience with that change is outlined below.*** I have been a Soldan's customer for YEARS. I stopped in to purchase dog food yesterday at the MLK location and learned that the food I buy is being discontinued by Earthborn, so I purchased something else. The cashier asked if I wanted a receipt. Mistakenly, I said "no." In all my years supporting this local business, it was NEVER an issue to look up a purchase from my rewards (phone number) or from my debit card. After researching the bag of dog food I purchased in haste, I decided to return it to purchase something else. I happened to be closer to the W. Saginaw location, so I stopped there. I was told today that with the new ownership, as Feeder's, they are no longer able to do that. I was told to go back to the store where I purchased this unopened bag of dog food. When I got to the MLK location, I was informed of the same policy. No refund. No exchange. No store credit. NOTHING. I was told the manager, Zane, would return on Monday if I wanted to talk to him. Had there been a sign, or even if I had been told this in advance when purchasing, I would feel differently. If your policy has changed, then give every customer a receipt! Instead, I will never again support this CORPORATE business again...over a 4lb bag of dog food. Sometimes, Feeder's, it is a matter of doing the right thing by your LOCAL customers!! Service is poor and they don't have a very good selection. And no one in the store can answer any pet related questions. I wished I could give a better review but I just can't. I was excited when the started building this place but they did not get good help. read more

First time, last time. Terrible customer service, so unfriendly I went in to buy soft kitten food, could not find any! They all said cat on the shelf I was about halfway done when the lights abruptly shut off evidently they were closing. Headed to the checkout let the counterperson know I had a hard time I was just looking for some kitten food No response, none just looked at me also I like to be thanked after making a purchase at a business never happened, again receipt shoved in my face, silence. read more

I live near Soldan's and prefer to support local businesses. While I may pay a little more for products, I am glad to know I'm supporting a local establishment instead of a chain. Anytime I've had questions or needed recommendations I've been able to talk to someone who can help me. I appreciate what they offer to the south side of Lansing! read more

love the dog wash. very pet friendly I love that. they are always helpful when I come in for my dogs medications, flea treatment, and straw.

We have been ordering a specialty dog food from this location. When I order, they always tell me they will call when it comes in and they never do. This is happened four or five times. I end up having to call them and find out that the food has been there for three or four days. I've been very diplomatic in my request that they do better about letting me know when the food is in. I always get responses such as "it's not my fault" or "I don't know." We have continued buying it there because it is a good price. But I'm considering strongly trying to find another location. I'm tired of the poor customer service with no care about doing better. read more
