The company came to fruition from Frederick Smith's term paper & grew into a billion dollar business within a decade. Like many major conglomerates, it's fine when everything works, but when "customer service" is needed, sometimes it goes out the window or they wash their hands of the problem, even if it's their fault. Problem: I was shipping a letter & refund to our accountant based in Reno (the city had several winter weather in mid-January 2023), & was provided with a P.O. Box. When I worked at TMS almost 2 decades ago, I have shipped to a P.O. Box in the U.S. successfully. I called FedEx U.S. Customer Service (800) 463-3339 to double-check if that's still an option; I gave the city, state, & shipment type/FedEx letter envelope. The FedEx agent replied they do ship to P.O. Boxes & I would be ok, but didn't mention any requirements, restrictions, etc. Our office manager receives a call stating my FedEx letter is on hold & unable to ship to the P.O. Box. I called & spoke Christian, not sure which department, to try & change the P.O. Box to a physical address since it's already in Reno. Nope, they can't amend the label & it has to come back to Torrance for me to re-create a label & get it shipped back to Reno. It's not that much in cost since I shipped via FedEx Express Saver, but I work for a non-profit & every dollar counts. No matter how many times you ask to speak to a representative it never connects you to one. I tried calling about an issue 5 times and all 5 times it never transferred me to a representative. Since the first name on the package was not an exact match to my id, Dollar General would not give me the package. FEDEX said they could do nothing other than pick up the package from Dollar General on Wednesday and deliver it to my house on Thursday. We shall see if that actually happens. This yelp isn't about the envelope and then the box left, on two different days, at our front door last week for one of our downstairs' neighbors by a FedEx delivery driver. This is about my own 1.5-star experience rounded up to two stars. I'm not sure which location the driver came from, but the order number was 433178701730 and was to be delivered to my home. Considering the delay I'd already experienced with the merchant I was using, I wanted to avoid further delays and chose to keep all the address information in my FedEx account the same, switching the personal mailbox address in my contact information to my home address that I entered in my delivery preferences. Smart, right? On the day of the delivery, I also chose to add extra information about how to get to my front door. The online field for this only has so much space, so I couldn't be as detailed as I was with delivery instructions I gave the merchant - twice - and could only put "must use stairs on right of bldg." in the online field of FedEx delivery manager page of my account. Good enough, right? Wrong. With all the information I provided the merchant and added to my FedEx account, the delivery driver still went knocking on my downstairs' neighbors' front door - that only takes two or three steps to access - on the left side of the building. Luckily I was perched at my window when the delivery truck pulled up. So when I didn't hear anyone coming up the stairs, I knew exactly where to look. I ran downstairs and found him waiting for my downstairs' neighbors' door to open. When I got his attention with a "sir?" he turned around and seemed to realize that I was the recipient of the package. I asked about the signature because for this alcohol delivery the person taking the package needs to prove that they're at least 21 years old, and I was wearing a scarf that covered my face from the bottom of my eyelashes down to the neck of my shirt. But the driver said a signature wasn't necessary, and happily put my $150+ order in my hands for me to take back upstairs to my unit and went along his merry way. The end? Unfortunately not. So with the next order from the same merchant, I noticed that the shipping label didn't have 2ndfloor/upper unit". Before calling those responsible for creating the label, I called FedEx. Unlike my last unsuccessful attempt to speak with someone during the day of the delivery described above (I was on hold for at least 30 minutes before giving up), someone picked up and helped clarify a few things. Here's what I learned about making sure this upcoming delivery, that I'm still waiting on btw, gets to me: 1) I'd done all I could by adding "must use stairs on right of bldg." to my FedEx account's delivery manager page. And, surprisingly, I hadn't added the info too late according to the customer service rep I spoke with (phew); and 2) If I really wanted to make sure I get my stuff, I can have my stuff sent to a FedEx location for me to pick up, or I can pay extra which sounded like a suggestion to give the driver a tip like customers can do at InstaCart for their delivery drivers (Um...Okay, sure! Why not? Lemme get my credit card!). So we'll see what happens with this next at-home delivery, fingers crossed* #TalesFromTheOutback * I ended up canceling the second order I placed with MinibarDelivery.com - and almost didn't get my $189 refunded (a yelp on its own) - and decided to find something else. read more

I got an email that told me my package was delivered. I called to ask my parents which were home all day and they said no one came to drop off anything. I called FedEx and a rep told me it was delivered at 2:22 PM. I asked my parents to check the Ring cam at the time and still no one was there. We also checked the Wyze cam that faces the street and no FedEx truck drove by from 2-3PM. I opened a claim with them and they told me it will take them 24 hours to investigate. By that time my package is long gone. I drove around the block and found my package a street over. Same number but different street name. The names are not even similar to each other. I tried to contact the people who live there to let them know I am taking my package but no one was home. I called FedEx and they told me I was allowed to take my package. The holidays are nearing and there are a lot of package thieves out there. We don't need a driver to be delivering our packages to someone else's house making it easier for someone else to get it. And if that were to happen, hopefully the people it got delivered to returns it to the right house. This is not the first time. I have gotten my neighbors packages four times in the past 2 years. My address is 2620 and the neighbors a few houses down is 2820. If you're dyslexic, don't apply for a job like this. It is important to get it right. It is frustrating to not get a package. Make sure your driver double checks the address before it is delivered. It doesn't take that long. Some drivers don't even take care of the package. Another time I received a package that was torn open by the front door. When I arrived home, I was wondering who was littering trash by the sidewalk and another one on the front lawn. Turns out it was a t-shirt that was on the sidewalk and a sweater on the lawn. Lucky no one picked them up. I used to work for USPS as a data conversion operator and I know how important it is for us to key the correct address so that it is going to the right place. If it is some kind of race to see which driver delivers the most, I'd advise the company to rethink that process. Quality over quantity. If I could go with a negative number I would. I have been trying for 2 days (about 4 hours on the phone and internet) to get an account number to give to an airline to ship me a medical device as they only use FedEx. The online location would not accept credit cards and had a red letter message to call an 800 number. FedEx customer service line would not allow me to get to an agent until multiple attempts. The voice activation did not understand, "get account number" or other voice attempts, nor did using the key pad get me to a real person that understood what I needed. I finally got my number after getting to a special agent on day 2 of trying that was U.S. based and actually understood what I was asking. My experience with FedEX has been more than Awful. Wish I could leave negative stars. FedEx is horrible. If you use Delivery Manager on their poorly built web site and place a Vacation Hold, they assign the Vacation Hold to individual SHIPMENTS, not your address. (Even though their Thank You note clearly indicates all shipments to that name and address will be held.) I only learned this after multiple calls to FedEx Customer Service, when I was asking why one shipment was held correctly, but two others were delivered to my porch while I was on vacation, and I had a vacation hold in place. You apparently have to place multiple vacation holds for all the incoming shipments. And guess what? Yeah, you have to know ahead of time that a package is coming, so that you can place a Vacation Hold for that specific FedEx tracking number. Otherwise, it slips through the Vacation Hold net. One more note - if your package is shipped Smartpost, it is probably being handed off to the local Post Office at the end of its trip with FedEx. Which means your FedEx Vacation Hold won't matter. I can't believe that FedEx has fallen behind both UPS and the US Post a Office in terms of customer service, reliability, efficiency and common sense! read more

FedEx is who delivers my scheduled Insulin supply. The last 2 orders were delayed do to weather, (which is understandable). But the medicine got delayed in Memphis, TN for 4 days, and not put in a refrigerator to keep the shipment cold. The box was properly packaged and labeled as required. I understand fully that this is an imperfect world, but when a major carrier cannot find a way to upgrade their tracking system to a point where it properly pinpoints package progression. I spent the entirety of my day calling the customer service center, trying to convince the digital assistant that the tracking system remained precisely where it had been 3 days ago at the point of origin (the business in which FedEx picked the package up to begin its journey), calling the business of origin (the shipper), and calling my local FedEx office. The tracking status never proceeded beyond FedEx possessing the package at the nearest FedEx facility to the original pickup location. It also displayed an expected delivery date of 8/27/2020 and could take as long as 8:00 p.m. to arrive. It was a very trying day doing all the groundwork that FedEx should have been doing to attempt to locate the precise current location each time I requested such information. Upon calling the shipper, the gentleman was not immediately certain where the package was or where it was bound to be going next. However, after a few moments, he informed me that he was able to track it down at my local FedEx shipping facility. Upon speaking with an individual at that location and providing my details to confirm that it was in fact my package and that I was working diligently all day long to track it down in an effort to determine the precise window in which I could expect my package. The gentleman I spoke with informed me that the package was in transit in a van locally and that I should receive it prior to the 8:00 cutoff. That absolutely did not occur, therefore I am left to wonder whether it ever was on the local van in the first place. I wasted an entire day attempting to track down a package that a major carrier's tracking system is supposedly designed to do. I am absolutely unimpressed with the trajectory in which this company is going. It appears that globalization is their primary focal point, as it is impossible to receive any assistance here in the United States, you know where the company is headquartered. Will definitely be doing my best to ensure that any company I do business with in the future utilizes the services of UPS or some other carrier that can actually provide the level of assistance that consumers demand and deserve. I find it most ingenuous that FedEx should hide behind the cancelation of a service guarantee that was communicated to me (and I assume your other customers) on 10th April 2020 after the fact, whereas I shipped this package with you in good faith on 7th April. In spite of me contacting your Team Member on several occasions (a case # was issued), receiving multiple conflicting responses, and spending many hours trying to resolve this package delivery, it took FedEx 30 days to deliver it. FedEx invoiced me $101, 3 weeks before the package was delivered, and when I tried to dispute it in a timely manner, I have been thwarted at every term. I will now pay this invoice, as FedEx is threatening my credit terms with you. And my only redress at this time is the "court of public opinion". I will post this correspondence online so that others can make an informed decision BEFORE they ship. And, for the record, I also note that FedEx is still charging fuel surcharges on EVERY package shipped, even though fuel prices have been at their lowest in several years for many months. I had three parcels delivered by Fed Ex. All were delivered to a vacant lot and thrown on the ground. When I called to complain they blamed it on the Postal Service. When I went to the post office they informed me that fed ex had not brought them anything in the past three weeks. So fed ex lied and tried to blame it on someone else. Then when I called about it they made it almost impossible to speak to anyone about it. I had to call about six times before I spoke to someone. Out of six deliveries by fed ex three were left at the wrong address. That is more than the USPS in twenty years. Sorry fed ex but in reality you suck. It is bad enough to make mistakes but then to blame it on someone else really defines your service. Fed Ex must really be in bad shape to hire so many people that are not intelligent enough to do the job right or they just don't care. Fed Ex--you will not be getting any business from me and if I have my choice you will not deliver to me since I like to receive my packages instead of relying on honest people to call me when it is left at their address or having to drive the area looking for them. read more

They lost my package in October. I called customer service and they said they would put a "trace" on it. December 19 I hadn't heard for them so I called for an update. They informed me I need to contact the shipper and file a claim. Really disappointed and inconvenienced by FedEx's lack of empathy and concern. read more
