Both times there was no apology just anger and claims that he "was busy" and I could take my shoes back. Both times I gave him a chance, returned and paid for work that was not particularly complicated nor inexpensive. I may be old fashioned but customer service, courtesy and a friendly manner still matter. Sadly, that was not what I experienced at Cortez Shoe Repair so there will be no third chance.

He wore them to fish on the rocks, (salt water) thinking he was ready for new ones anyway, but they're still good! He just dried them out and brushed them off and wore them to work for the rest of the summer. I finally got around to ordering him a new pair. The store keeps your information on file so a phone call is all it takes to order new boots. You don't have to go in to be fitted each time. My husband has found a style he likes and he's been buying the same boot for many years. You can check out all their styles online, which I did, but turns out he was already buying the best one. Maybe I just got lucky but the person I dealt with on the phone and in the store was Roberto. He took time with me on the phone when I was checking out the different features of the newer boots online. He was patient and knowledgeable, answered all my questions. I'm reeeeeeely sensitive about service. HATE spending money in a store where the employees aren't courteous. Don't we all? Seems like sometimes these days we don't have a choice but Roberto made this shopping experience a pleasure and like I said, the boots are the BEST.

Apparently this business is NOT officer friendly any and ALL officers of ANY kind should NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER get their shoes done here, my family member had a straighten staple positioned in a place where as soon as he stepped on it after getting his shoes redone re-sold it punctured his foot causing severe pain and bleeding. It was deliberate. This is what THIS BUSINESS DID and it is vile and unacceptable to say the least, and the owner HAS to know and is completely complicit or is completely ignorant of its employees which is even worse. I hope this business goes OUT OF BUSINESS. ALL Officers be warned!

Before I committed to letting them repair the shoes, I ASKED them if they could repair them, they said yes, they charged me, and said they would call me when ready. You would think as a customer: If they said yes to accepting the job, if they charged me for the job, then it means they can do the job, that they have the expertise to do so, right? Wrong. I had to call to get an update, they finally said they were ready and when I get there, the shoes are full of glue, very visible, and the suede is damage. Their lame excuse is they could not fix them...then why charge me if you could not do it? Why commit to only do a sloppy job? Why attempt to do it if you don't have the experience to do it? Worse, why give this excuse and STILL have the audacity to charge and yes not reimburse me for AT LEAST the cost of repairs, which would not even be enough to cover for one shoe!? Stay away, pay more and next time don't do the same mistake I did. Not worth it.

I had the pleasure of working with Jay, who was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk to. From the moment I walked in, he took the time to understand exactly how I wanted everything to fit instead of rushing through the measurements. I brought in quite the assortment too: a Filson trucker jacket, a pair of raw denim jeans, and my Red Wing Iron Rangers. He was confident in his recommendations while still making sure the final result matched what I was looking for. You can tell Jay takes pride in his craft, and that level of experience gave me a lot of confidence leaving my favorite pieces in his hands. Customer service like his is hard to come by, and it made the entire experience enjoyable. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is the price. The total came out to around $340, which definitely caught me off guard. To his credit, Jay was kind enough to give me a discount on the jeans and only charged me $300 cash, which I really appreciated. Quality craftsmanship isn't cheap, and I understand you're paying for experience. If you're looking for someone who knows what they're doing and treats your clothing and footwear with care, Jay is someone I'd recommend. Just be prepared for premium pricing.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this business…read more I took my shoes in for repair and they told me they would be ready the next week. Unfortunately, because they are only open during regular work hours, I wasn't able to make it on the day they said they would be ready. I came the next day at 3:30 when they supposedly close at four, but they were already closed. I came back the next week at 3:30 and again they were closed. I returned the next day on Saturday around 11 AM and again they were closed. I finally was able to pick them up three weeks later and when I arrived, I was chastised for having left my shoes there for so long despite having tried to pick them up three times already. They told that I have to come on the day they say they'll be ready for pick up which is impossible for me since I work at a 9 to 5. The WORST PART is that in addition to the difficulties of obtaining my shoes after repair, they aren't even fixed. The FIRST time I put them on the glue came undone. See photo. So now I paid $30 for nothing

I received an apology and my shoes were delivered. When I did receive my shoes three of the five pairs I received as follows: A black pair of shoes that needed elastic repair, only one shoe was repaired with what seem to be brown elastic for a black shoe. Brown elastic is visible. Another pair of shoes needed to be re-glued as they were leather on plastic base, (this seems to happen a great deal lately, even with Prada, Christian Dior, etc. ) the super high heels that have leather, the leather comes off of the base, which is made out of some sort of plastic. I inquired if they could fix this, and they said that they would try. What occurred was that there is now glue on the leather, which was not previously damaged but now is. And there is glue residue not only on the leather, but on the acrylic/resin base. The third pair, I needed toe taps and I wanted the nailed in taps and was talked into glued taps ( more expensive) as you can see the tap is peeling. It is my experience that it's getting very, very hard to find a good cobbler. And I thought I had found one, according to the reviews, but apparently I have not. I would appreciate if the business owner replied to this review to perhaps better understand why these were delivered this way. I do want to mention that I received a 20% discount for my troubles in reaching them regarding the delivery of my shoes. I did not think the discount has to do with the workmanship.
