After reading the other reviews, I was a little worried... but I was so surprised and extremely HAPPY. I came in a few minutes before closing on a Friday, I had called in advance and she remembered my shoes. There was some dry sense of humor banter with the cobbler and the lady at the front. They could see I was in distress to get these shoes fixed right then. He fixed my favorite pair of Kenneth Cole red heels in time for my daughter to wear to winter ball the next day. Every where else I had gone wanted to fix them in a way I knew would ruin the look of the shoes. And all for only $5.50!!! I will definitely return again and again. read more

Fantastic Shoe Repair! They also work on handbags, belts, anything leather. Always friendly, and excellent work done by all.. especially Penny (thanks, Penny!). Best thing for those in a rush?... their drive thru pick up. Great idea which really works. Hmmm.. I wonder if anyone there used to live up in the Pacific Northwest?.. home of the drive thru everything! read more

I took my beautiful new horse bridle to Federico's to just "see" if they could help me with a break. Not only did they mend it, they did so in under 10 minutes with no appointment and I can't even tell it was ever broken! Their customer service was kind and thoughtful and the talented man who mended it cannot be thanked enough! $7.00 was all they charged me...unreal. My family used to use them all the time for our shoes, never in my dreams did I think they'd beable to help me with a bridle! Thank you so very much Federico's!!! You're one in a million!! Great job!!!! I had let a pair of boots go too long and had not only walked through the rubber heal, but had worn away the heal structure underneath. The boots were ready when they promised, they did a prefect like new job. They polished boots, I think they may have dyed them too, because color was so rich and deep. I cannot produce that look with a spit shine! I paid the same price I was quoted. So great to do business with a local that really cares about their customers and does a superior job. Thank you! read more

The only place around to bring your leather goods. I needed straps moved on a cavesson (for a horse) and I was leaving town the next day. Four hours later and it was beautifully stitched and moved, just like I requested. Very reasonable pricing as well. Not to mention the shoes that they have saved for me over the years! A Monterey institution for a reason. Great customer service, fabulous work, highly recommend to anyone. Plus the drive thru can't be beat if you are dropping off! read more

Great service and they did a nice job on my eight pairs of shoes. I missed the drive through option but won't next time. Thank you Federico's read more

I sought these guys out based on a tip from some Home Depot employee. I needed my hockey skate repaired, simple enough repair job, two rivets and an eyelet. These guys are difficult, terrible customer service, and they did a half ass job repairing my skate boot. The eyelet is already falling out after one week because they only replaced the showing side of it. On the day I picked it up they had only replaced one of the two rivets and I had to sit in the store for an extra 30 mins while the clueless employee tried to up charge me for another rivet. Over all, it was a hassle, and their work is shit. The founder would be ashamed I'm sure. read more

This is a probably my favorite place in town. I trust Jose with my expensive purses and shoes for care. The service is prompt and excellent. Jose was able to provide me great service and was specially helpful for suggesting ideas and thoughts on what and how to bring back the life to my items. Everything you heard is 100% true and then some more! Every time I take my items to him for some repair or extra care, I get top-notch perfect service! Super awesome service all the way. read more

This place is the best. They're cheap, they're fast, they have a drive thru window, and today they fixed something for me for free on the spot because they're chill af. Go here. Keep local businesses alive. read more

Wow! Can't believe how Federico's made my Gucci python sandals look brand new. I had worn these shoes to death and had what is considered the best shoe repair shop in Manhattan refresh them a few years ago. That NY shop didn't come close to doing what Federico's did. I'm so happy with my sandals that look good enough for them to be sold at Bergdorf Goodman again. And they took the liberty of extending the sole on the toe just slightly so I won't scuff them up again. Now that's service and knowledge that doesn't come with every shop. I may bring all my shoes down from San Francisco just to have them repaired at Federico's. Everyone was so nice and it's quite fancy compared to most shoe repair shops that look like little holes in the wall full of dye. I'm a fan! read more

Do NOT waste your time or money here! Horrible service. The only reason why I came here because of all of their advertising on t.v. I needed to have the heel and toe replaced on my boots. Not only did it take over two weeks to repair but also costed me $70. I should've taken that $ and applied it towards a new pair of boots. read more

These guys are legit. They did an edge dressing to make some very nice shoes even better. Turned the sole on my friends black shoes from brown to flush black and they looked amazing coming out. Good price and quick, easy service. Will come back. read more

My first bad yelp review, if 0 stars was an option I would have put 0. Terrible customer service!! The man working was rude from the time I said "hello" and we didn't even make it to the cost of products/services before I walked out. I wouldn't waste my time, but if you do then you will see for yourself that you should've went somewhere else. read more

Can the shoe repair business in Monterey actually be busy enough to make the woman that 'helped' me slam her hands on the counter in a fit when I gave her two potential names the shoes I was retrieving might be listed under? Yes, that's a mouthful. I was shocked that a customer service person actually did that! Don't waste your time here-the people are RUDE! read more

I brought in a vintage alligator medical bag that had a torn clasp, and luckily one of the workers named Penny took charge to not only fix it but craft a piece that looked identical to the missing strap and clasp. The craftsmanship is incredible and I couldn't be happier with the end result- thank you Penny! I would recommend this business. read more

If you are sensitive and want someone to kiss your A** then this is not the place for you. Sure the customer service leaves a lot to be desired but the work is great and if you ask them in advance they will tell you what the work will cost. I get a lot of work done here and they warm up after a while. I spent days talking to tailors and seamstresses about getting a certain job done and they wanted anywhere from $100 to $300 dollars to do it. My wife suggested Federico's for leather work and they charged me $20 and did an excellent job. read more

Friendly, efficient and reasonable. Able to fix some nuisance defects and re-gluing on shoes. Could not have been a better job. These folks are the best out there. read more

Horrible customer service. I dropped my shoes off to be cleaned and I came back 3 days after they were supposed to be ready. First the woman could not find the shoes. Then she found them and they weren't ready. She didn't know when they'd be ready so someone was supposed to call. A week later I hadn't heard so I called Federico's only to find out that they couldn't do the job. I was a frequent customer but this was the last straw for me. On top of that, the staff is unfriendly. read more

I have had two pairs of clogs re-dyed. They are like new. The reason I am reviewing Federico's Drive-in is that I took my daughter's cowboy boots in to be dyed to match her riding chaps. WOW! Perfect match and they put up with multiple calls from my husband and me to see if we could pick them up early. Great job. read more

I have been taking my shoes here for years. they are simply , THE BEST. Even really expensive shoes look brand new. I had a pair of boots I couldn't let go of for 20 years and they would just resole them over and over again. Plus they're really nice folks. read more

I had some highly technical embroidery work to be done and was referred to Frederico's by a competitor of theirs. After reading some of the previous Yelp! reviews, I was skeptical of the service I would receive. I found them to offer great customer service! I was greeted with a smile, helped immediately, my order was fulfilled promptly, when it was promised and the quality of the work was excellent. Ill be going back to Frederico's for my future jobs. read more

I'm only giving two stars because my service with embroidery was good. Thought it would be the same for shoe repair and man was I wrong. I'm relieved actually to see that I am not the only one who thought their service was extremely poor. Guy just stared at me and got very aggravated when I didn't know the proper terminology for what kind of sole I wanted on my boots. Very rude, will not go back. read more

I took a square leather purse of mine into Federico's to see if they could restitch two of the corners (the thread was coming loose)...sounds like an easy fix, right? Accept that the purse is a bright florescent watermelon color (three shoe repair shops that I went to in Salinas first only had tangerine as the closest colored thread). Not only could federico's match the thread exactly (!!), they use white thread and then mix dyes to match the color, they only charged me $12.50 to do so! $12.50 to match the thread on a high-quality leather purse (albeit in an unusual color) that is otherwise in great condition is totally worth it in my book! And they have a drive-through, which is very convenient when your baby is asleep in her car seat and you don't want to wake her up to go inside. LOVE! read more

May I just say I was skeptical to see "drive-thru" BUT was I pleasantly surprised! What an outstanding service! I am a cowboy boot lover...I have a beautiful suede, tan pair of boots that became damaged while out at a festival. Unsure what to do I asked the local boot shop and they referred me directly to Federico's! I drove in and waited approximately 7 minutes where I was greeted and pleasantly surprised to hear they were able to do a small treatment immediately. Approximately 3 minutes later the nice lady came back to the drive thru window and said, "All done" I checked out my boot and was in complete awe! It was back to new! So thankful for this little shop and will definitely be utilizing and referring people to them from now on! Thank you to the Federico's! read more

The best! Dropped off my Ugg's for cleaning because I spilled candle wax with essential oil on them. They cleaned them and they look brand new - perfection! I have never been disappointed with anything I have had repaired here. They are experts. read more

Federicos does a great job in reviving horse riding boots that other shoe repair shops would just drop in the trash. I had a pair that had been sitting in the barn for years come back looking like 'almost' new. Though their prices are a bit high, they do specialized work. read more

Again, Outstanding as always. There not miracle workers but they do there best! Always friendly and amazing work. Done fast and well priced.

I brought my shoes in at 8am and was able to pick them up at 4pm that same day. $15 for a new pair of heels in less than 24 hours and I didn't even have to get out of my car. "mean mike" is a sweetheart. read more

I took in some shoes to fix the soles and a nice leather bag to change out the zipper... I was very happy with all their worksmanship ... will be back again read more

4 stars just for the drive thru window! Brillant. Prompt, friendly and good at what they do. Explained to me what would need to be done and provided the cost. I had a simple repair fixed it while I waited at the window and was on my way. No wonder they are the best in the world. Love this place. read more

I dropped off my wife's boots this morning to get re-heeled with one set of instructions: if I can't get them back by Friday, don't leave them. They called me 90 minutes later to say they were done read more

This place is a factory without much interest in customers or in the creativity of their craft. They do decent work and have been around a long time. I have been there multiple times for different projects and found them unfriendly and unhelpful read more

I moved to Santa Barbara four years ago. I knew that Federico's was great, but I had no idea how great they truly were until I moved. I am going to plan my trip in Monterey to include this great shoe repair! read more

I brought in a boot to Federico's last week. It had a little discolored splotch on the front of it (caused by yours truly with the help of a baby wipe!). The guy at the window took a look and said, "I'll be right back". Less than five minutes later, he came back with my boot looking perfect!!! I asked how much I owed him and he said, "Nothing" with a smile! I don't know about anyone else, but THAT is customer service with a big fat bow! Yay for Federico's! read more

Brought my shoes in to get resoled. They did an excellent job and had it ready when they said they would. They gave me a fair price and my shoes are ready to work again. read more

As you guys can see in previous reviews, people are pretty harsh about this place. I went to the Red Wing place in Salinas, and they actually sent me here because they couldn't do the work. No, they are not full of sunshine and rainbows in there, but I personally found all of the staff straightforward and not a problem to work with. I see how some people may get rubbed wrong by the personalities of a couple workers, but these people need to grow some thicker skin and a sense of humor. I was laughing and had no problem with the customer service, even though I had to go back and forth for a bit about what I wanted to re-sole my boots with since he had a different idea than me. In the end, my boots look fantastic, feel fantastic, and had real, quality work put into them. People need to quit crying, and if they want a good place to go to that you KNOW you'll get quality work, this is the place! read more

Such a great find here in Monterey. All my shoe repairs have exceeded my expectations and they have a fast turnaround. They also refurbished a belt and fixed a seat cushion expertly. We highly recommend Frederico's! read more

Had a tote bag repaired here. They charged a lot and the workmanship was downright shoddy SO I took the tote bag to Harry Crawford at Sunset Leather on Sunset in Pacific Grove. Harry wasn't cheap but he wasn't any more expensive than Federico's and his workmanship was superb. Anything that can be done by Harry at Sunset Leather in Pacific Grove should be (so that you can avoid Federico's) read more

HORRIBLE!!! Do NOT go here. I dropped off a pair of suede boots for cleaning and they RUINED them. Literally has 8 oil spots on them. Trashed. The owners had the audacity to stand there and tell me I dropped them off that way?!?!? Say what? Unbelievable. $75 boots ruined. read more
