Some cool shops but just not what I was looking for and not the place to sell nice antiques, crystal, mid century modern-it's a fun place but not the market I had hoped for. Daily admission applies per person, I think it was $3 on Saturday. Huge parking lot to park. This place has a small carnival as well. My mom wanted to find luggage but time was not on our side, nor was the weather. We went later in the afternoon, they closed at 5pm. Many vendors already closed shop, plus the weather was near 100 degrees. We walked around to see what they have, we purchased some fruits and left. My cousin recommended getting the sausage on a stick, but all of the food vendors were closed.

In addition to vintage glassware, this is a treasure trove for retro kitchenwares (salt and pepper shakers, etc) and midcentury furniture. Even the outside of the shop is super rad, with bright red walls and a Mona Lisa sign. You can't miss it! Prices are a little higher than what you'd see at a Flea Market, but the shop is so well curated that I usually think they're worth it. The owner and her brother are super cool too, which makes it even more fun to support. Tip: If they shop is closed, try their sister shop, Arts District Antiques, across the street. The owners are usually in there and will open Garage Vintage for you.

It seems like one of those great neighbourhoods that has remained mostly untouched (uncorrupted). My favourite store in The Highlands is Wordshop. I haven't had a chance to hangout there as much as I would like to but each time I stop by Wordshop I check out a new shop like Ruby Jane, a super cool clothing store, that I resisted the urge to buy anything on this trip. (Trying to pack which means no more things but just for the moment.) The streets are original and therefore quite narrow so be sure to slow down and be courteous. Also, parking is a bit of a bear if you can I would Uber over to avoid the hassle. Go. Spend some money. Keep The Highlands thriving!

What's great about this strip is that in about 8 blocks, there is a whole condensed area of really…read morecool antique shops. Supposedly, this area is the epicenter of US Victorian antiques. It is cool to pursue these shops and find the old remnants of the Victorian age and the west. I have lived here for 19 years, and this strip has changed. Recently, there have been tons of little great restaurants popping up (Maria Empanada, Adelito), very cool little bars ( Black Crown), Coffee shops (Corvus roasters) and also, well, lots of pot shops- can't say much about those. Also a bit of a sketch factor that is cleaning up, but still sketchy especially around Iowa St & Herman's Hideaway. Vintage and thrift shops abound along this strip as well- a great destination for your 1980's collecting is Fifty Two 80's A Totally Awesome Shop. For your costume needs, try Regal Vintage. I avoid Flossy McGrews, and it may even be gone. Terrifying store. But that's the fun of it! The ARC thrift store is actually amazing- a true charity, well run, cleaner, well organized with awesome finds!! My favorites are the Scandinavian Antique Shop and El Paso Imports. Happy Antiquing!

Oh what fun it is to shop at a holiday flea mart!…read more This was my second holiday flea market of the day, and I was a little shopped out, but I was determined to find gifts! And I did! For myself.... It's broken up into 2 parts: a kind of general store with multiple merchants and one checkout, and a bunch of little stalls that are all independant. Everything is cute and interesting and I loved all the vintage. There was a ton of vintage!! My mom found some rings made of spoons that matched a pattern my grandma gave to her sister in Italy for her wedding (in the 50s or 60s), so that is now in a box in the mail to cousins in Italy right now for Christmas. And a super cool coincidence! She also found a vintage animal crackers tin for my dad (don't tell, it's a surprise) because held always loved those. I found a beautiful vintage coat that just happened to have leather gloves in the pocket that fit me perfectly. And the coat makes me feel like a 1940s movie star on the way to some fabulous something or other, so totally worth it. And it's indoors, so weather is not an issue, though Belmar parking on a weekend can be.
