Gastro Pub! We liked the food so much at this country pub that we came here for dinner both nights of our 2-night stay in Alstonville. The menu is sure to please everyone - it has the usual pub classics as well as some contemporary gourmet options. One the first night we had the nachos topped with slow cooked beef, black beans, guacamole and sour cream and the rolled Bangalow pork belly, on the second night we had slow cooked lamb shoulder and the full rack of pork ribs. This pub wasn't all that bad, and in fact, still retains its old school charm. Mind you, it is sort of in the middle of the country, but then again this part of the country is hardly all that remote, especially since I managed to walk from the pub in the previous town. Still, as a pub, it was rather nice, even though it didn't have a great beer selection. Then again it does happen to be a country pub, so that is to be expected. read more
