The place is so clean and chic with great amenities, one would never know! The rooms are great here although wouldn't recommend getting a basic room especially for 2 as they are very small. I got an upgraded room and it was white all over with a massive bathroom and rain fall shower, the pressure was to die for . It even had a tiny balcony which I enjoyed for my morning coffees. They have a communal kitchen that is kept immaculately even has L'occitane soap to wash your dishes. Complete kitchen and grill to cook with a fridge for storage. There's laundry, and a small lap pool great for dips as Byron Bay is quite humid. There also is room service, which is why it I thought it was a regular hotel. Free coffee and tea and filtered water. What else can one ask for? Yes its a little more expensive than some of the other places in the area but it's worth it.

There are three houses on the property, and a number of rooms in each (eight in the one I stayed in). Each house is very modern with a kitchen, dining areas, BBQ, etc. Ideally you would come here with a family for a birthday or something like that, but even from my experience it was worth heading back to.

The old world charm of this place is like stepping back into the past and hearing the rooster crow of a morning reminds me of my childhood. The guys who are the owners and mangers of the lodge are very helpful and yet not intrusive. They quietly assist if there is a need. They cater very much so for the LGBT community. The rooms are large and have an ensuite. The bed is firm and comfortable. Tea, coffee, milk etc are supplied. The Internet is a bit spotty. You have to move around to find a signal. Sitting on the verandah of a morning you can hear all different kinds of birds. The lodge is walking distance to the town centre. Nimbin is very alternative. I will always stay here when coming to Nimbin, always pleasantly surprised.

That only is deserving of a five star rating. The rooms were quite well stocked, and very comfortable. Not surprisingly it was pretty quiet, and I got a great nights sleep. The place is nothing short of beautiful, and they even have a great garden, and the country views are magnificent.

The rooms are very spacious and comfortable and the motel is in a good location just a 10-15 minute walk to the restaurants at Ballina. Our newly renovated room had a comfortable bed, bright modern bathroom and a flat screen TV. There was also a well maintained pool area in the motel complex. Tracy is super friendly and the coffee at the little caravan at the front of the hotel is very good. This is a good budget friendly option for a Ballina stay!

Then again, it does happen to be in Casino, and Casino is hardly a bustling metropolis on a main highway, so I guess you aren't going to get as many trucks roaring through at all hours of the morning, even though this motel does happen to be on the main road. The location is pretty good as well, being close to the town centre, and also across the road from a nice park that happens to be beside the river. Well, it is a bit of a hike to the railway station though, but then again the station is hardly close to the town centre.

At night there are always people drinking at the tables near the kitchen area so it's easy to talk to new people. I stayed in the apartment rooms which are a bit quieter and consist of two 4-bed dorms with private bathroom and kitchen. I found this to be a great deal considering the price even if you decide not to go out at all. Hostel is also close to restaurants in the area and the Woolworths grocery shore, which is convenient. The bottle shop can be found near the grocery store if going for a quick beer run or whatever.

That wasn't necessarily a bad thing though because those huts were actually really nice, and quite comfortable as well, not to mention warm (which does tend to be an important factor for me). The grounds are actually quite large, in fact so large that they have golf buggies to take you to your rooms. There is even a swimming pool, not that I actually ever use them. Oh, and it is pretty close to most of the happing places in Byron as well, so that's also a bonus. I probably should also mention that you also get a pretty good value for your money as well.

We needed a spot the day of for 4 people and rented a room with a queen bed and a couple of single bunks. The price was reasonable and the balcony wrapped around two sides of the building making for a nice place to unwind and sip on a drink after a long day at the beach. Couple of cons: They charge $25 if you do not clean your dishes, but provides no dish soap or sponges to get the job done. We're we supposed to bring our own? Seemed like an easy way to make an extra $25 and I really hope it went to the housekeeper not the owner! Also there is a higher end pizza/Italian joint adjoined to the building we never ended up trying because the smell of dead fish or trash permeated upward from the rear of the restaurant to our room. Overall, great in a pinch but if you're planning ahead I might try one of the nicer spots located right on the beach.
