Ah, regional pubs. Is there anything you can't do? No-one you can't charm?
Bangalow Hotel is a particularly fine example, there's like 4 bars and a dining patio with some properly creative dishes that are excellent value for money (apart from being gigantic, Viking-sized servings). There's rooms with sport-watching TVs and fireplaces, Buck Hunter and video games, pool tables and a dance floor / gig area. The best bit is clearly the public bar with tons of different craft beers -Â yes, craft beers! In an old man pub! -Â but that's to be expected, it's where all the chat and action happens.
I had pan fried blue eyed trevally on a bed of bok choy and topped with sambal. My mate's laksa was colossal, you could have swum in there if you like a bit of spice in the eye. Great reports on the beef rendang, too. read more
