This is one of those pubs that I have known about, and have probably been to am couple of times in the distant past (but really can't remember doing so). It is a little out of the way, at least where Adelaide is concerned because without a car you can only get here by a rather unreliable bus. However, having managed to make my way down here I have to admit that it is quite a charming place. It is quite large, and has a number of rooms, including a gorgeous beer garden. I came here once after climbing the Waterfall Gully to Mount Lofty trail in need of coffee. It was about 5 in the afternoon, and I was exhausted. I had no interest in food, and just needed a quick caffeine hit. It was almost as if the waiter took offense to us only wanting coffee. I can understand that businesses want to sell as much as they can, but business is business. The coffee seemed a little overpriced to begin with, but it was the staff's inattentive attitude that tipped my discomfort over the edge, and I decided to leave. Maybe I was in a bad state of mind. Maybe the waiter wasn't having a great day. Maybe I smelled of sweat. Who knows? read more

Love the recently renovated space of the Feathers Pavillion at the location of the Feathers Hotel. It was the perfect location for an afternoon drink for my friend and I today. The shutters on the road side were all opened up and the breeze was gently drifting across the room on this particularly warm afternoon. There is an extensive wine list and the wine came beautifully chilled. We requested water an the friendly barman served this in long glasses with both ice and lemon, We will certainly return. We felt we were sitting outside with the added comfort s of being inside and really enjoyed our time at this venue. read more

Very expensive, but it's not too bad. I mean, I find a chicken schnitzel over $20 (if you have it with the mushroom sauce) to be a little bit excessively priced, but you get a good sized serving of a decent schnitzel for the money. The service was alright, too, and the food was presented to our table quickly and efficiently. I'd like to see this place charge a dollar or two less on their main menu items, but apart from that, I was happy with my overall experience here. read more

Diners today we were at the Feathers Hotel. I didn't know a lot about this place and I tried to get some information from their website but unfortunately it's still under construction. Their facebook page claims that Feathers is a fresh and exciting eatery. It's definitely fresh! It was a bitterly cold day in Adelaide when we visited and we could see a fireplace inside the restaurant. Sadly, there were no empty tables near the fireplace so we sat ourselves a few tables down and hoped to catch a bit of escaping warmth. On first impression the dining room looked clean, fresh and modern. Geometric tiles on the floor and well thought out seating to maximise but not squash in the number of customers. Music was playing and a TV screen was on to distract - At just a little past five, this place was filling up fast. There were already a few tables full when we arrived and a few more people came with young children while we sat. Our server was lovely but she seemed quite anxious to have our order. I ended up choosing the Papardelle Ragu - KI braised lamb shoulder in a red wine, roast tomato & vegetable sugo w/ herbs & pecorino Hubby went for a few entree's instead. He chose Pork Sliders - Slow roasted pork shoulder, house slaw, chipotle mayo in a sweet bun and Arancini Balls - Semi dried tomato & basil w/ marinara sauce & vegan parmesan I have to say, I was surprised at how busy it was at this time of night. It's obviously a well loved place but for me there was something missing and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Overhead fans were on - probably to push warm air down but there was no warm air and we hoped the food would be able to warm us up when it came. The food didn't take too long to come out. Hubby was pleasantly surprised by his Sliders. They were a good size so his eyes were pleased immediately. They didn't skimp on the pork - It was tender and smothered in what they described as a tangy sauce, but it really gave a good kick! Hubby said it reminded him of BBQ Ribs sauce. The coleslaw gave your mouth a bit of relief but it was really a well balanced taste. The Arancini Balls were equally good. Moist and full of flavour, yet crunchy on the outside. The texture was perfect. We'd had these elsewhere a few times before and thought they were stodgy but the ones we were served at The Feathers were really lovely and not stodgy at all. My Lamb Ragu looked good when it came to the table. I did think it looked a little small or perhaps lost in the plate that it was served in. I was also a bit disappointed that I couldn't smell that tomato and basil sauce. There were basil leaves on top but I think they'd just been thrown on there at the last minute. I couldn't taste basil and I certainly couldn't smell it. The pasta was cooked al dente, and there was a generous amount of tender lamb throughout. This was not a bad dish, it just wasn't memorable. It was okay. I think what made this experience not so great for me were those overhead fans because my dish cooled down almost immediately and was cold by the time I was finishing. No pizzazz, no style, no aroma, not enough cheese and became cold almost immediately. We also ordered a side of fries which were neither here nor there but the garlic aioli was kind of nice. Efficient staff were by to pick up empty plates the moment you put your fork down. Even though there was nothing too wrong with this place, I don't think there was a lot right either. There was just something missing. Perhaps it's in the name? The Feathers. You think of something warm and soft - cosy - comforting. While there is nothing wrong with this place, it's not cosy. It's the opposite of comforting and cosy. It was a little impersonal and I hesitate to say that as our server was a lovely young girl and these comments are definitely not a reflection on her. I would probably go here again but next time order something different and see if that changes my mind about the food - and perhaps I won't go until Summer time unless I can reserve a spot by the fireplace! read more

Thank you for ruining my Birthday Dinner. My brother booked a table on the 8 May 2021 for 7pm. I arrived with my 92 and 82 yr old parents and we found my brother irritated due to being forced to move from a nice table to a makeshift table (too small for 4) attempting to speak the staff and/or manager was impossible and they showed little or no concern for how we felt. Empathy was out the window. Their excuse is they are busy. No shit Sherlock hence why we booked a table. After several attempts to get the managers attention it became obvious that they only wanted to cater to the younger crowd. We decided to leave extremely disappointed by the way we treated and the fact I had to move a 92 and 82 year old once again only proved the staff lacked customer service and any form of empathy. They missed out on a couple of hundreds of dollars tonight and I will be sure to advise friends and family on the pit-a-full service. Thanks again Feathers for ruining my birthday. Management truly need to look at their staff. read more

The Feathers Hotel has quite a classy dining room, featuring your choice of an ala carte menu or a rather brilliant carvery buffet. I have to admit I've been there four or five times, and have never been able to convince myself to have anything off the menu, the carvery is definitely the star here - it's also the only place I've found so far that I can get yorkshire puddings to go with my roast beef, bar making them myself - and these are-all-you-can-eat-keep-coming-back-and-having-more-yorkshire-puddings. Heaven! The meat is - well, come on, what do you expect, they do this every day - the meat is melt in your mouth perfectly roasted. Close to Christmas there's Turkey on the menu too. The crackling crackles... the lamb is so tender you have to go back for seconds... the beef... so much flavour... and those yorkshire puddings - did I mention they do yorkshire puddings???? All the accompaniments are here, too, salads, veggies, some assorted creamy pasta dishes and a curry or two, all that stuff that makes up a good buffet. And, ummmmm, I don't know if I've made this clear - Yorkshire Puddings. In abundance. Once you're almost full, there's a stack of desserts to choose from. Staples of trifle, bread and butter pudding, apple crumble, jelly, and assorted cakes and tarts - if you can't eat way more than the value you've spent in food here, you're simply not trying. The one vital thing here?? Book. Feathers is popular enough that you can't simply turn up and expect to get a seat, on any night. The Feathers hotel is quite a large pub adjacent to the roundabout at the corner of Glynburn and Greenhill roads. The hotel expands over quite a large area including a spacious car park. The hotel proper has a roomy and quite homely old English style front bar, a dining room which is quite formal in styling as well as a more casual side bar. In the summertime there are also often tables placed outside along the side of the hotel which make for a nice place to get an afternoon drink. The Pokies room is well facilitated to say the least, but thankfully sits in an attached building so as not to disturb the familial vibe of the pub. There is also a semi detached cafe, within the hotel complex, known as "the place next door." In addition, the hotel has a well stocked drive through bottle shop. read more

I came here with relatives for a birthday back in October, and it was okay. The food was nice, atmosphere was pleasant enough. Service was alright. Look it's not that this a bad hotel, but there are plenty of other options I'd rather take in the area if I'm after a meal. I left with nothing really jumping out and wowing me enough to want to come back. read more

Love this place. We go here just about once a week with the family. The kids can't get enough of the chicken snitzels. We have the fish most times and they always taste so fresh. The prices are reasonable, it has such a great vibe and they are always so busy. It's a great place for everyone. read more

Food was amazing (SA sourced as well), the customer service was friendly and welcoming, the restaurant AND beer garden both have a great atmosphere! Can't wait to the renovations are all finished!! My experience in the newly renovated restaurant at the Feathers was disappointing to say the least. I visited the restaurant with my parents and brother thinking it would be a memorable experience- it wasn't. We all walked out saying we definitely won't be returning. We ordered 2 entrees ( chicken rolls and cheese cauliflower rolls ) plus for mains 2 x squid , steak and garfish. What amazed us most was that the waiter bought out the steak first with the 2 entrees. Shortly followed by the squid. We sat there in bewilderment thinking the staff will realise their mistake but this didn't happen. After informing the waitress that we wish to have the entree first followed by the main the mains were removed and kept under the warmers until we finished. I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. My squid was extremely salty and deeply fried which you would expect to get served at a truck stop and dads steak was average. Bill came to $190 which included a $50 bottle of sparkling. No thanks read more
