To me, this place has so much potential, but it fell a little short of expectations. We came as a group of 8. Per their signage and staff reports, we are to order at the bar. (This was helpful as we could do separate checks). They offer wine and cocktails. However, on my visit, their soda gun was broken, so my friends who did not drink alcohol had limited drink options. Unfortunately, their kitchen got slammed and struggled to keep up. My group's food came out very spread out. Salads were decent. My one friend enjoyed their tacos. However, my last friend to order food ordered a grilled cheese, and it came out cold. I would come for the wine again, but would only order food if it didn't appear crowded. We had to narrow down how many wineries we were visiting on the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail and this was a perfect pick! First off, the property is gorgeous with a pond in the back and plenty of covered seating on the deck. The server was knowledgeable and friendly and the wine was pretty tasty as well. We particularly enjoyed the sangria and later visited the Fork & Vine restaurant associated with this winery for more sangria and a delicious dinner. read more

Service was terrible, I was seen multiple times and ignored, and the staff barely knew what wines were available. Their "Pretzel and Beer cheese" is more freezer pretzels with melted pepper Jack. This place is definitely more of a bar than a winery. Better to skip on by and visit one of the other many excellent wineries on the Shawnee Wine Trail. read more

Feather Hills vineyard and winery is absolutely a must stop on the Illinois wine trail. The warm inviting space greets you and with the back patio just steps away from the bar makes this a very welcoming space. The staff, especially the older gentleman should be the face of Feather Hills vineyard and winery. He had the patience of a Saint and was happy to help. This held true while a Bachelorette party made their way in and was more interested in the Sangria versus the wine. While having to multitask while answering question after question this gentleman still kept a positive vibe and kept cool, calm and collected. I greatly appreciated his kindness. The wine options at Feather Hills were very very good. The patrons were inviting, including the friends we made. The view from the patio was enjoyable and with room to walk and explore this vineyard, this is a must stop. I took several bottles with and unfortunately one of the bottles had gone bad. Bad experience! Walked in told 30 minutes for food okay ordered a bottle of wine and 2 sangria. Both were good. An hour later told another 30 to 40 for food. We sat in back room and they were setting up for private party and kept giving us the side eye. Just ask us to move. The one worker said we could sit there for another hour. Also no toilet paper or paper towels in ladies room. We left 40 minutes later. We we settled our bill no one really cared and bill was wrong. We visited this winery while in the area and we felt very welcomed as soon as we walked in! We did a wine tasting which was nice, and so happy they had a full menu because we were very hungry. The atmosphere and views are amazing and what make this place a go to spot along the Shawnee Wine The deck space sits lake side and they had live music on our visit. Perfect setting for an evening or day visit. The sangria is top notch and my personal favorite!! You get to keep the cup!! The wine tastings cost $5 for 5 tastings but you get to keep your glass! Which to me is awesome as I love a souvenir. You can choose your wines of choice or do the preselected dry, semi-dry or sweet tastings. The wines were subpar in my opinion. This was such a great winery. The staff was great and helpful. It was required to have reservations and sign in upon arrival. Note: there is a 15 minute window if you are running behind. Upon entering the tasting room you have to wear a mask and the staff was spacing out guests. Samples were poured and served in plastic cups. Staff members wore masks throughout. You were able to select your flight (5 drinks). I got the sweet flight. They were short one sweet wine and substituted in the sangria. Inside is also cheese and crackers if you want to stay and enjoy a bottle. Overall, I really enjoyed the wine available. The winery was beautiful. There was an indoor seating area with weather protection coverings and heaters. There was also deck space for guests. The winery also had a pond with tables and seats around it. We made reservations and were very pleased with this winery. All seating is currently outside. You are seated at a table and can order flights, glasses or bottles. We each ordered a flight. There were several wines I liked and I had trouble deciding which one to purchase. The property is lovely and the deck overlooks a small lake. There is also a stage where they have live music. The staff was extremely friendly and made sure that their rules were being followed. I definitely will return. read more

Excellent medium sized winery with a cozy vibe on the east side of the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail. Some of the better wine on the trail, with great dry Chambourcin, Rose, Vidal Blanc, and semi-dry Vignoles offerings. Gets very crowded with live music events as the Feathers have invested quite a bit into expanding their patio, gazebo and garden seating areas. I personally prefer it on weekdays, when you can enjoy the peace, quiet, and beautiful nature that surrounds the winery. Very knowledgeable, dedicated staff as well, who care about the product they are selling and provide a welcoming atmosphere. read more

I visited here with family and had a wonderful time. Sat in a covered and enclosed patio, overlooking beautiful view of the lake. Then lo and behold they had live music, a duo, right in front of us. That was so much fun. The food we had was delicious, grilled cheese and red pepper soup, Service was a bit slow, because I think the word is out on this wonderful winery. Orlandini's is what the wine trail is all about. Easier one of the best wineries on the trail! The quality of the wine, service, and facility could not be better. There is a small, simple indoor seating area and a nice big patio out back. The bar is always manned by a member of the Orlandini family, and they're ALWAYS happy to talk to you and teach you about their wines. The back deck is probably one of those serene and peaceful environments you will find anywhere on the wine trail. I've been sitting here for the longest time trying to find the words to describe just how perfect Orlandini's is, but I just can't. I hold that whole family in the highest respects, and I hope they stay in business forever. read more

A hidden gem is the best way to describe this place. Driving up, the building exterior is well manicured and quaint but not that impressive. There was a white tent to the right of the building that looked a little awkward and I remember thinking how much nicer an outdoor patio would look. Regardless, when we went inside, it was clean, welcoming and the woman behind the bar was knowledgeable and truly friendly. She was able to articulate the wines very well and they were excellent--enough to buy eight bottles. The tasting room has a deck overlooking a small lake and they also make the best sangria my boyfriend and I have ever had! They generously gave us the recipe and I have to say that this place was quite enjoyable. Comfortable and relaxing with high quality wines. We'll definitely be back! read more

The Orlandini family has been making wine in this area for a LONG time. We're told they were one of the first. The quality of their wines seems to be a step above most of the other places. It's a small but clean and attrractive tasting room. Tastings are free. Based on our two visits here, you'll probably have one of the family members pouring your wine. They're all super friendly, which for us, make this a must stop between Blue Sky and Starview. It's a serene setting by comparison to those other two, so you'll get a little variety in your overall experience. Do stop by, though, especially if it's the wines your interested in. If you're on the Shawnee Wine trail for a rollicking good time, or to meet women, this ain't the place, at least not when we were there. read more

Feather Hill is one of the newer wineries in the area. The wine here is pretty good (for a southern Illinois winery) and the patio is very nice. It is a big improvement over the winery that was previously in this location. read more

This is a darling little winery along the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail. We also didn't go, but decided at the last minute to stop by before they closed. I wish I could give this place more stars, but I just didn't really care for their wine so much. If you like drier wines, you might like this place more, but I was kind of in the mood for at least semi-sweet and didn't really leave satisfied. That being said, the service was great! The guy behind the counter was a brother-in-law of the owner, or something along those lines, and he was an absolute pleasure to talk with. The land that this place sits on is also very beautiful and scenic. This is definitely one of the more secluded wineries down here that we've been to. read more

This is a very small vineyard with a simple tasting room. We found it to be our least favorite of the wineries we visited on the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail. They offer not only their own wine but also wines from other wineries on the trail. It was difficult to determine the quality of the wine because the pour was so small and inadequate. We purchased a plastic wine tumbler and sampled five wines for $5 -- note: this may have been a special offering due to the fact that this was the total solar eclipse weekend. read more

I loved this stop on my road trip with friends this fall. As the other reviewers note, it's a nice, simple indoor tasting room with tables and bar, and there is a patio out back. We were served by a really knowledgeable server who really tried to describe the wines, work with our preferences. We ended up getting a glass each of their sangria, which was fabulous! read more
