My friends and I were looking for a quick lunch stop after a Monticello tour and Feast came up as one of the top Yelp hits, so we decided to check it out. It's located in a marketplace with several other stores/restaurants and was a bit tricky to find, but once we made it in we knew we had made the right call. The deli counter is just that, a counter with a good variety of sandwiches, soups, salads, and sides. You put your order in, pay at the counter, and grab a table on the patio or inside. I had a trio (cup of soup, half sandwich, and a side)- the tomato/kale/coconut soup, the ham, goat cheese, and plum sandwich, and the white bean salad. Everything was perfect. Not only was the presentation on the point, but the food was flavorful and hearty and I would not have changed a thing! The grocery was great as well! They have a bunch of pre-wrapped sandwiches and salads, an olive oil station, tons of meats, cheeses, and dips. Only thing to keep in mind is that they close pretty early, 3 pm. read more

I'm in love with this place. Delicious meals and a cute, laid-back atmosphere. It's a bit expensive, but well worth the price for the quality. There is so much delicious cheese, chocolate, and baked goods in their store though, just close your eyes and get out of there. Or buy it all, I'm sure it's worth it! I've eaten here a few times for lunch and I've never been disappointed. So many unique and delicious sandwiches to choose from, it's a bit intimidating, but you can't go wrong. I went to Feast to grab a quick "to go" sandwich and was pleasantly surprised with a fantastic little deli. The moment you walk in the door, you smell "fresh". Everything is clean, inviting and yummy looking. The staff is quick, friendly, and helpful. The menu was a great mix of salads, soups, and sandwiches, with a nice selection of vegetarian options. I feel like I'm stating the obvious, but it's worth repeating. Feast! is awesome. I feel good about what I'm eating, knowing that it's prepared fresh with local ingredients. the cost is the equivalent of Panera, if not cheaper, and so much tastier. I tried a falafel pita special today and it was truly one of the best I've ever had. Additionally, they always have plenty of seating in a clean area. I travel through Cville frequently for work and I often set up my laptop for a little while. FYI: the artisan ice cream sandwiches in front of the order window are a little pricey, but sooooo good. Yum. Perfect fall food for a still warm, sunny October lunch right outside on the patio. I like the set-up of the store, where as soon as you walk in, you place your order for a sandwich, soup, or salad, and then you can mill around and eat olive oil-soaked bread slices or chocolate chevre. I ordered a cup of the cream of summer squash and the house salad: the soup was delicious and filling, though it left some kind of bitter aftertaste and could have used an extra splash of salt. The salad came with the tiniest dollop of hummus that I ever did see, but at least there was plenty of green on my plate for once. Did not get a chance to buy anything else in the store, but Feast is conveniently located next to other good restaurants, like Orzo and Zinc. read more

After a morning spent in the car coming from DC down for a wedding, we were starved. It was around 2pm and naturally we consulted yelp so we could go straight to food. Feast had great reviews, it was decided that is where we would go for our late lunch. BEST GTD (game time decision) LUNCH EVER! This place is just delightful! Even at 2pm the place was still very crowded. Make sure you take note of that! However, there was plenty of indoor and outdoor space for eating. Not to mention there is a full market next door (butcher, florist, seafood, etc.). They also offer a selection of free samples throughout the store. While we waited in line we took turns trying various cheese and jams (it was just what we needed to take the hanger edge off). On to the food, I had a Chicken, Cheddar & Fig Panini. It was amazing. I love figs and this was such a treat! It was a bit on the small side from what I remember (ok, perhaps I was just starved), but the flavors were a perfect combination of sweet and savory. I had a side of the white bean salad, which was also great. I loved the capers in the white bean salad, that was a nice touch. Overall, it was extremely refreshing on a hot afternoon! I was also able to try the Prosciutto & Mozzarella sandwich. It felt even smaller than my sandwich (again, maybe my hunger levels was skewing my brain proportions...). With that I was able to sample the gazpacho. YES. SO GOOD. Get the bowl, it won't let you down. The portion was perfect if you plan on giving out tastes to friends. Picked up 2 small sandwiches and 2 small cookies for $27.00. The tuna sandwich had an overpowering fishy smell and fishy taste. I heard this restaurant has a great reputation, but not only was the sandwich not great, the teeny tiny side of bean salad was tasteless, except for the capers. I like capers, but they don't work for me in a cold bean salad. And the chocolate chip cookie was overly sweet. I wrote to the restaurant 2 days ago to give them a heads-up about their tuna, I never heard back. Hence this negative review. BTW...brought home half the tuna sandwich, gave it to my daughter, didn't say a thing. One bite was enough for her...too fishy to eat and into the trash. read more

I visited Feast on a road trip to Charlottesville with friends and boy am I glad we did! This is exactly the kind of place that every town needs. It's half restaurant with amazing sandwiches, soups, and salads, and half specialty grocery store. The grocery had meats, cheeses, spreads, chocolates, and Virginia themed gift baskets, with all local food goods. I had the Turkey, Cranberry, and Brie panini and my friends had the Prosciutto Mozzarella, The Local, and the Margherita. Everyone loved their food! My turkey sandwich was like the best of Thanksgiving pressed into a warm, cheesy, panini- I'm drooling just thinking about it! They also have some interesting bottled drinks. I had one of the strongest ginger ales I have ever tasted- not sure how I felt about it. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and I would definitely go back next time I'm in town! read more

Simply put - delicious. I ordered a panini and the quinoa salad to go. Both were excellent. Whoever put together the menu knows that they are doing. The combination of flavors was impressive. In fact, I'm already planning my return. The sooner the better. You can taste the quality of ingredients in their food. The service here is really friendly and creates an incredibly inviting atmosphere. What a great place to stop by for a quick lunch! They also appeared to have a great selection of gourmet items (meats, cheeses, etc), wines, and beers. There is also an open area to eat-in if you don't want to take your order to go. Maybe my favorite place in town right now. It's part of the best market in town. They've got great local produce, a selection of local farm eggs, a great meat and cheese area and some other cool stuff. Aside from that, they serve my favorite group of sandwiches in town. The Chicken Salad (Polyface) is outstanding. A special with Italian meats, mozzarella, and greens was also great. Their vegetarian sandwich (the local I think) was still good but not on the same level as the other two I've had. I usually don't take time to write reviews, but I just had to say how impressed I was when I called down to make a delivery to the UVA Medical Center. My nephew (brother's son) was having a complex emergency surgery unexpectedly. My brother and his wife were staying in a nearby hotel since they live about 3 hours away and due to all the stress and worry they were not eating well. I wanted to send them a healthy gift basket full of dips, olives, meats and cheese, dried fruit, nuts, wine, etc. that they could keep in their hotel fridge and eat while taking breaks from the hospital room. Erin took my information (I live in MN) and quickly crafted a beautiful gift basket full of everything I asked for. Thankfully, since I called early on Tuesday morning, it was delivered to the hospital late that afternoon. Thank you to Erin and your team for surprising my family with amazing, delicious, high quality food. Feast is great for perusing and snacking and they have great cheese and salumi offerings. They are locally-focused and offer delicious samples throughout the day. I go in for the Mediterranean tuna salad often. The only downside is the price. I went in to get some cheese and crackers for a cocktail party and left having paid $30.00. Love grabbing lunch at Feast - especially their Turkey, Brie and Cranberry Panini (mmm...tastes like Thanksgiving). They've got great sandwiches and salads, and the mini market inside has a great selection of gourmet items. Although $8-9 is a little more than I would tend to pay for a sandwich of their typical size, I always leave feeling full. Great selection of wines as well for those days when you can afford to kick back and enjoy lunchtime. Seating can get a little tight during their busy lunchtimes. The parking lot outside is pretty small and can get cramped (if there are spaces available at all). The only thing I have to complain about at Feast is their side dishes. I am consistently disappointed with them - the fresh fruit salad doesn't taste very fresh and doesn't have a great selection and the Romesco Roasted Potatoes were room-temperature and starchy. I wish the sandwich came with chips or something instead, since the side is always my least favorite part of the meal. Overall, would definitely recommend! read more

I can see this being a super hotspot for vegetarians and wish we had a place like this close by us in Chicago! There are always tons of free samples (which I admittedly go for every single time). They also have a cafe, only open for lunch, with sandwiches, salads, bowls, etc. I've had a few sandwiches, including the turkey/cranberry/brie today, which are tasty. They come with nutritious sides like fruit salad or roasted cauliflower. The size of the meal is perfect for lunch, though I do think it is somewhat overpriced. In general, Feast is not somewhere you should go if you're on a budget. The employees are exceedingly nice and also knowledgeable about the products. I always look forward to a visit. read more

The food is absolutely incredible, hands down best salads and sandwiches on W Main. The pick-up was slightly obnoxious. They send you a text that you specifically have to reply to even though the website says otherwise. My boyfriend went to pick up my food (an hour after we ordered it) and the lady he called from the curbside said she would alert the kitchen staff.....so it wasn't already made well after we were supposed to pick it up? She then said that I needed and I only needed to reply to a text that I got for the order versus him calling as if there were a line of people knowing my order and not common last name ready to take my food. I totally understand that everyone is working out the kinks with curbside pickup during COVID but it was super disruptive during a zoom meeting and really unnecessary. Consistently proves to be worthy of the title as my favorite quick place to grab lunch in Charlottesville. It's in a unique building behind Orzo and has an indoor market feel. Given that its primarily a small, high end food market, Feast! has an array of cheese, meats, olives, olive oil, and cold ready-to-eat food. If you're looking for high quality ingredients this is a great little market to utilize. But why you're probably there is to grab lunch. They have a food counter where the line can get a little long during the lunch rush but never is too long of a wait. Theres an expansive menu on the wall that has seasonal, daily specials. Their salads look great, but their panini are what I always get. I highly recommend their Ham, Goat Cheese, & Plum chutney panino (the single form of panini for those uninitiated into the secret world of panini fans). Also, I absolutely 100% endorse their VA ham biscuits. It is 8 mini sweet potato biscuits with ham and a dollop of delicious local chutney. I'd get a platter of these for a meal if that wasn't so ridiculous, they're that good! All in all, for such a pleasant atmosphere and high quality ingredients, it's a pretty reasonably priced at less than $10 per entree, so after you split the VA ham biscuits (which I know you will after my rave review of them) lunch for 2 is less than $30! read more

This is a fantastic little deli shop in a unique market. We could not believe the amount of yummy samples around the store, from some chocolate spread and high-end marshmallows, to olive oils and cheese-jams... and had so much fun browsing we almost forgot that we were there to grab lunch! I decided to stick to an easy order and just got the ham, goat cheese, and plum sandwich. It was obviously hand-crafted, small-batch, perfectly assembled, gloriously toasted... and tasted phenomenal. I adored every bite. My husband's sandwich was some sort of Italian thing, I didn't pay much attention because I was so enthralled with mine. His was smallish and nothing remarkable, which is a real shame because it will take a bit of convincing to get him to go back. So this is the minus one star. The vibe was great as well, friendly, and not pretentious like some of these higher-end markets tend to get.
