This studio is AMAZING. They have done an outstanding job developing our young dancer - to see her growth in just 2 short years dancing competitively (with a pandemic year!) she has grown leaps and bounds. The studio fosters a supportive community environment that everyone wants to be a part of. We can't wait till more dancers come and join the Fearless Family- this is only the beginning!

Being at Fearless is one of the best parts of our week. Amazing studio with wonderful teachers. Ms Alex and the rest of her staff are all gifted teachers who can break dancing down into some basic fundamentals so the kids really learn things the right way. Our daughter has grown so much as a dancer in just a short amount a time because of them. Even through a pandemic they rose to the challenge and stayed open for the kids, first through virtual classes and again in person by opening safely. Love our 2nd home.

I wouldn't recommend Brooklyn Dance Academy to a friend. My daughter was enrolled in the 2 year old…read moreSaturday morning class at 10a. I wouldn't recommend BDA for the following reasons: 1. The kids practice the same exact thing every weekend, same songs, same dances, with no variety at all. I would expect some sort of lesson plan that repeats every 2/4 weeks or something of the sort. After some time my daughter was no longer engaged in the classes and didn't even want to go to dance class because it wasn't exciting or engaging. 2. For months the classes would start 5/10 minutes late and end 5 minutes early. This was quite frustrating considering it was only a 30 minute class. I spoke to the owner about this issue and classes started to last 25 minutes instead. However, I would expect this to be the standard, not something that's only corrected with complaint. 3. Classes are canceled on short notice, today with less than an hour notice to class start time (and rather frequently). Yes a make up class is allowed mid week but some of us can't make class during weekdays. 4. Myself and a few other people arrived 15 minutes early for their first class only for no one to be at the front desk to help. I personally spoke with the owner the week of my daughter's first class and she said she would be in to help with the process. She was no where to be found and parents were calling the owner to figure out how to help onboard us. No hard feelings here, I just expect more professionalism and will continue elsewhere if my daughter would like to participate in dance again.

We love Brooklyn Dance Academy!!! The staff is amazing and Mrs. Jess the owner is the best!!!read more

They motivate their dancers to push the boundaries, both mentally and physically, in order to improve all of their dancing abilities. CDA prioritizes academic instruction, which has helped our daughter flourish in both classroom and studio settings. Ms. Natalie, the company director, has been an excellent mentor and our daughter highly values her leadership. While they work hard on their competition techniques, she reminds them to enjoy the experience and always fun. Not only do the girls support each other, they've become like family and it makes the wins all that much sweeter. We are so proud for all they have accomplished in the first year. We are confident that our daughter will cherish the memories she is making while dancing at CDA. If you're looking for a wholesome environment for your child to grow as a dancer, then I highly recommend you give CDA a try.

Both girls have grown in maturity and grace under the direction of Ms. Sandra and Ms. Ariel, co-owners. Focus is placed on development of the whole person at PAE. Each one is treated with dignity and value not just in what the studio can gain from the dancer enrolled, but also in what the individual student can gain for his or herself. Dance technique is a major focus but so is working towards being a better person in lots of ways (ie. commitment, work ethic, and kindness). My girls are genuinely loved and this has benefited not only them, but our whole family. Many kinds of dance is offered here (call for specifics) from basic/beginner instruction to advanced. A recital is given in June to show off to family and friends each dancers hard work. They offer a Troupe that performs for community and charity events as well as a competition Company (by audition) for the more serious dancer. Emphasis is given to each Company member supporting and encouraging their fellow dancers while working towards and exhibiting each one's personal best. If you are looking for a family-friendly studio that has high standards, is modest as well as contemporary, Performing Arts Empire is worth investigating. We have been very blessed and it was a wonderful experience for our family.

My first experience in ballroom was in a try-it-out-for-free class at UC Davis taught by Ikhlas…read more One of the most outstanding memories of my first impression of him was when he was teaching the leaders (mostly boys) how to dip their followers (all girls). I don't remember exactly what dip he taught or how he taught the technic, but what I do remember is him saying, "If you're going to fall, what you do is go straight down to your knees, you pull her into your arms, and protect her. You do not drop her." Needless to say, I joined the class, and eventually joined the dance team at the studio he taught at at the time. Ikhlas is elegant on the dance floor and off. He has a way of making you feel special, like a specific individual, rather than "just another student," and he has a genuinely good personality. If you're wondering about his dance skills, all I can say is that you won't be disappointed. He can be masculine, more masculine than any other male teacher I've come across. He can also be elegant in a more delicate, feminine way, so much that it can trump almost all of the female dance teachers I've come across, too. Ikhlas is a great dancer, he teaches dance in a way that's easy to understand and learn, and he's a great person altogether. To bring it all together, Ikhlas is an amazing teacher.

I really miss Kips Gymnastics. My 4-year-old daughter has been to a total of 3 gyms, and I think…read moreshe grew the MOST at Kips. I started her there right around the time she turned 3. The class was honestly kind of hard/advanced for her because she was still so little. I think that class had kids from 3-5yo. We only had a couple lessons before the gym shut down because of covid. They reopened August 2020 (I think?), and I took my daughter back and she stayed there until the end of 2020. She made tremendous progress during those 4 months at Kips. I think the class she was in (led by Coach Candace) was really good for her. Candace was great with young kids and knew how to support them well. The obstacle courses were also a good challenge; they had beams, bars, and lots of tumbling activities. I also liked that it was an hour long. I didn't give 5 stars though because they changed coaches often. My daughter had 3 coaches during the time she was there. There was one coach before covid whom we didn't see again when we returned post-covid shutdown. When we returned, we had Coach Whitney. Whitney, I think, had a hard time with the littler ones. Preschoolers need visual and hands-on learning. She relied too much on verbal multi-step directions, which are really hard for young kids to follow. She also didn't physically demonstrate a majority of the things the kids were asked to do in the obstacle courses. Older kids would be fine with verbal instructions only, but the young ones need visual cues and they need to see things shown to them. Then Coach Candace replaced Whitney. Candace had a lot of energy and SHOWED the kids what to do rather than just telling them what to do. She was a better fit for the 3-5yo class. We moved after 2020 and have been to 2 other gyms. Neither of them provides the same kind of rigor that Kips has. I would definitely return to Kips if we lived closer. I'm thankful for the time we spent there.
