PLEASE NOTE This review is intended as a business review. I hope there is no read of offense or personal feelings. Money was exchanged for services and this is a review of my experience with those services. I support FDS Construction as a family owned business. I believe they do good work. I understand the challenges small business owners face with managing projects and we do the best we can. However, as the consumer, when the dust cleared and the work was done, in my opinion, there were gaping holes in quality and service. Unfortunately it felt like the next project took precedence over wrapping up my renovation project. There were unfinished projects that were promised to be rectified, but never were. The worst offense was that a a pre existing gaping space between the basement wall and the great outdoors was not filled in. I ended up going to Ace Hardware to buy foam filler and do it myself. Overall, I was left unsatisfied and really disappointed. The project started out great and lost steam. I thought it was a pretty straightforward basement renovation, so I'm not sure what the issues were. In hindsight, I should've held the final payment until all the "little fixes" were completed. In my industry, it's all in the details, and I expect the same from anyone I work with, especially in the construction. I'm not sure what I could've done differently other than parked myself downstairs all day to keep my eye on the work, which is exactly the opposite what I wanted in hiring a contractor in the first place. In terms of the staff and crew, they were really nice. Timely and super pleasant. Again this is a business and services review, not vengeance or any sort of malice (you know how folks be on Yelp). I pray it isn't seen this way and I pray this is helpful. read more

Frank and his team just finished up my kitchen. They were great to work with- professional, timely, and communicative. Any changes to the timeline (hard to fix an outside wall if it's raining for a week!) were communicated clearly, and Frank and his team were polite and respectful of my home. Can't recommend them enough- my kitchen looks great after a COMPLETE renovation. read more

As one of the reviews stated started out great but ghosted us as project dragged on and needed to move on. One guy was superior and thankfully he did bathroom but other guy who did wood work was terrible. Punch list was ridiculously long and they spent 4 hours like their heads were on fire addressing then flew out of here. Numerous doors didn't shut. Nails sticking out of baseboards. Hollow doors not finished, thresholds never installed, too Numerous to list. He then ghosted us. I had to hire another company to finish and fix problems. It was a challenging time during pandemic and supply change problems (it was due to flood so no choice in timing) but the finished quality was only about 50%. We were really disappointed. He kept promising us when we pointed out problems that everything would be addressed at the end. Unfortunately we believed him. Most disappointing is that he was pretty hostile that last day when I showed my displeasure. I know he was under pressure to move on but that really wasn't my fault. It was a very difficult time for us and we really thought we had a good relationship with frank. It's unfortunate it ended so badly. He came highly recommended so I guess if he has a good crew his work is good but for us it was a very stressful and disappointing experience. read more

This is my second commercial project with Frank and his team. He is so great to work with and always keep me update to date with progress. I can't say enough of all the great work he has done for my properties. I am looking forward to see the final result of our current project and more in the future. Talk about being on top of things! We had an emergency situation and heard about FDS and Frank Davis from a friend. The same day Frank came over, told us what we'd need, ordered the part, and it was completed efficiently within a few days. Have already recommended him to a friend who is happy with how quickly Frank returned their call. Would definitely go to again when needed. read more

Frank seemed really honest and straightforward. I needed someone to rebuild our shed less than 2 years ago. Frank knew our situation with previous contractors and the state we were currently in (the shed was partially demolished on one side and rotting throughout). We were having trouble finding someone to do the job and I think Frank used that to his advantage. We specifically wanted a bar shed built. Frank and his crew rebuilt the shed from the ground up, keeping the old roof. He specifically made the promise we would love our new shed and have it "for at least the next ten years". He finished the job in 5 days because he was going on vacation. The inside was not finished the way I wanted, left half assed pretty much. I didn't say anything at the time, because I was just happy to have a standing structure again. After a few weeks I started to notice little things here and there that were misaligned, damaged, sloppy, etc. Still didn't say anything. Finally, a few months later i had to call him. The bar itself was completely warping and the door to the bar that swung open was crooked and wouldn't shut properly. He fixed the bar door (or whatever you want to call it) , but again with just two months it was drooping again and leaking water. When I called him back for the bar itself, he told me I would have to find a more durable bar myself (such as granite) and he would install it. He told me he was "really busy". At that point I knew he was checked out. Not even two years later, this shed is horrible. Water damage throughout (I asked him to put gutters and he said I didn't need them), including the inside of walls totally beveled and our concrete coming up around the outside of the bar. This is the SAME exact problem we had with our previous shed, and he knew that! This shed cost us 10k to build and now it's going to cost more than 5k to fix. He's like most contractors, lies and rushed jobs to move on to the next (or go on vacation). Like the other woman said in one of these reviews - inspect EVERYTHING before you pay him the final amount. I wouldn't hire him at all though. I'm so disgusted that I'm now spending $15,000 on a shed. read more

If you use FDS Construction, be sure to use a credit card and do not make the final payment until you inspect every inch of the work. I went with FDS Construction and Frank Davis because he was extremely friendly and was very involved at the beginning. Since I am disabled and unable to do the work myself, I really valued his friendliness. This changed quickly before my job was properly completed and he left for over a week to build a roof on his brother's house in Florida. Although it was a small job of tiling around a tub and painting a bathroom, almost all of the work was sub-contracted out. The plumbing contractor, Craven Plumbing, and a tile guy Frank Davis hired did an excellent job, but not only did FDS Construction not finish the painting (they did little to no prep work as well), but Frank Davis personally damaged several of the installed new tiles. Instead of measuring and making sure it was level, Frank Davis apparently used a screw gun to attach the curtain rod brackets directly into the brand new tile. When shown to me, I did not notice his "hack" work, but could visibly see the curtain rod was attached un-level by many inches. Frank Davis re-attached it and after inspecting all of the work properly, it was blariningly obvious that he damaged and cracked several tiles while doing this (he did not use anchors, only screws). He also only used two screws on each bracket, instead of 4 and the install looks worse than something I could have just done myself. To make matters worse, this old and rusty curtain rod was never supposed to be used, I mentioned before the estimate and during the work that I wanted a new curtain rod. FDS Construction did little to no prep work before painting, they simply painted over holes and areas that could have been easily cleaned up. The painting was never properly completed. The installed base boards are horribly lined up and none of the nail holes were filled in and it was never painted. The trim around my front door that Frank Davis personally "fixed" fell off the wall within an hour of him leaving, despite him using a nail gun and not even filling in all of the holes up and down the trim. I made a horrible mistake of aggreeing to pay cash and although Frank Davis responded to texts stating he would be back out to fix these issues, I gave him weeks and he has vanshed. read more

FDS construction is a great company. Frank and his men were professional, expedient, friendly, and neat. They came when Frank said they would and if there were any changes to the schedule he called me promptly; if possible several days or at least the night before. Before FDS took on our project Frank explained that he could start about 1-2 months hence since he was already committed to a large home renovation. He did offer to start immediately if we were willing to work around a changing schedule. Since we were not bound by any deadlines, we said that that would be fine if they would work on the days promised. It worked out fine as Frank made sure that we stayed in contact as he juggled around schedules. He always tried to do as much as he possibly could on the days they were here, and he always called promptly if there were to be any changes or problems. Since we were having several areas of our home (deck installation, front steps replacement etc.) refurbished it did require a lot of pre-planning and efficient use of time. His company exceeded our expectations. If there were ways of doing something more cost-effective Frank would find it. On the other hand, he was honest about not skimping when the task needed to be so. He was creative and helped us realize our goal of having a back door with attached deck and new concrete patio installed to our specifications. Since it was non-traditional it required expertise (as well as several meetings with bldg. inspectors) to make it happen. As for any future projects, we will look no further than FDS. read more
