Wow did I need a haircut! I hadn't cut my hair in over 2.5 years, and I have a beast of a mane on my head. After the first salon I went to didn't have any openings for the day which is fine, Sarah at Faust took me in right away! She is such a vibe and I had one of the best experiences with a hair stylist I've ever had in my adult life. She got to know my hair and made her suggestions (I'm not the greatest with how to direct someone to cut my hair, so that helped a lot! She then cut my hair to the desired length I wanted (right above shoulders) and she taught me how to apply creamy product to help quench my curls and gave me some tips about what to stay away from and what to use. I booked an appointment with Jennifer online and requested a curly haircut in the notes. at that point, a few inches had bleach and repeat dyeing damage and they just had to be chopped off. i went in and the salon was very calm. I told Jennifer i was looking for a wash and go sort of hairstyle that could grow out and i may not need a haircut for a while, as i was planning on moving for work. she washed my hair and i almost fell asleep i was so at peace (typical hair salon occurrences lol). the products smell amazing!! now it is 3 months later and my hair is very happy. it was my first real curly cut and she definitely set me up for it to grow out nicely :) read more

Honestly it's been very hard for me to decide weather or not to write this review however for the last 3 weeks every time i look in the mirror i'm very disappointed with my hair and let me explain why I went to Phil to get my hair done 2 weeks ago i asked for a shadow root and it was no where near a shadow root it instead looks like i just have a months worth of root grow out then 4 days after the appointment i washed my hair with purple shampoo like my stylist told me to do and it turned my hair red. I proceeded to text phil and ask what i should do he then recommended a color depositing hair mask which then turned my hair green please keep in mind i would have never used this unless he recommended it to me. Then i went back to him to see if he could fix it because i had a trip in 2 days (after my hair turned green) and i needed it fixed and then he proceeded to charge me another $230 after our agreed price was $160 and yet my hair is still very red i've had my hair lifted at another salon and it's never once reacted this way it's always been blonde and no red when another person lifts my hair to blond im extremely disappointed with this salon i can't touch my hair for at least another 2 months because im worried that my hair will fall out from damage and i wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy to go here please stay safe read more

WOW! I cannot say enough about Logan's incredible skills. I have been a client of hers for at least 10 years. Every single time I have an idea or vision for my hair, she not only accomplishes it but she levels it up. She has worked magic on my hair when I have fucked it up by dying it myself or cutting my own bangs etc. Her hands are basically magical. The photos below are from my most recent cut. I had been feeling like chopping my hair off since I am notorious for wearing it in a pony. I was nervous but she calmed me and assured me we would have it looking popping. When I walked out of the salon, I had a whole new refreshed sense of confidence. I kid you not, people were complimenting me left and right. My haircut inspired 3 of my coworkers to cut their hair short. It is rare to have a haircut that you can hop out of the shower and it instantly looks FIRE. Anyways, if you want to feel amazing, and be treated like a king or queen, in a VERY covid conscious environment, Faust is the place. i had an appointment to cut my hair with Sebastian about a week and a half ago to cut my hair. not only was he just not the friendliest, but he also didn't really cut my hair to what i wanted. he said he "guarantees" haircuts and i could go in for a revision, but why tf would i do that when i didn't like it the first time around? basically what happened, i had asked for some curtain bangs, but wanted them to be shorter since my hair grows so fast, he cut them blunt. i asked for layers and wanted it to be between my chin and shoulders in length. the length part he got right, but instead of layers, he "thinned" my hair out, which i DID NOT ASK FOR and i went to a different salon today to add layers to my cut, come to find out while he was "thinning" it, he basically made chunks in the back of my head that ARE LESS THAN AN INCH FROM MY SCALP. the back of my head LITERALLY feels like someone buzzed sections of it off. for reference, the length of the rest of my hair is about 3-4 inches... now with chunks that are half an inch. on top of that, he charged me more than he had originally quoted me. with that, he styled my hair in a way where i was sent home looking like a fucking cross between dora the explorer and tina belcher. read more

I had such a good experience! I came in when they opened and they fit me in right away no appointment needed! I'm new to the area and was looking for a place to color my hair. My guy (also the manager) was so nice and talked to me about what I wanted for my hair. The color came out wonderful and looks great. The products they use are awesome and smell great! No stars (Yelp made me give them 1 stars to post, which isn't deserved), please see below. Went to Faust Salon for the first time for a partial highlight and trim. After 3 hours, got into my car, into the natural light and hair was NOT highlighted. I could still see ALL of my roots, especially around the face. Back to wearing ballcaps 'til I get it resolved, right? Great!! So glad I spend almost $200 to look exactly the same as I did when I went in. Listen, I wondered why the stylist (Nina) pulled my foil off soooo quickly. Her reply was I didn't want it to "pull too much" meaning didn't want it to be too blonde. Well, IT DIDN'T PULL AT ALL -- NO HIGHLIGHTS, NO BLONDE, ROOTS STILL DARK, even my gray hairs that I've had around my face since I was 20 years old was still showing, which if highlighting is done properly covers and blends so it's not so obvious. I called salon immediately and person (Amanda) said owners would be calling me back. Why do the owners have to call me back, I wondered? Why can't Nina call me back, immediately get me in to highlight my hair the way it is supposed to. Look, owners (or Nina) haven't called (after reading some of the below Yelp comments, probably won't) it's been almost 2 days now. What is disgusting is stylist handed me off to get my hair washed, blown out and trimmed by another person (hadn't told me this would happen nor did I agree to it) so I could NEVER say that I was dissatisfied. I believe this is on purpose because how can you complain to another person when that person didn't do the highlight in the first place? Nina NEVER even came over during her over booked schedule of doing another client to see how it all turned out. When I grabbed by things after my trim, blowout by some other stylist and I was getting ready to leave, only thing she said to the receptionist NOT to me was to schedule next appointment for 6 weeks. Great That's all I need is to return to pay more money for a service that's never provided and will be passed around like an illegal drink at a college party -- NO thank you. I will NEVER recommend to anyone to visit this salon unless they change their business practices and how they provide services and until I see it is happening, won't do it. In fact, I will specifically tell friends, family, colleagues, husband's work (huge employer in Santa Cruz), & neighbors etc., etc. to never waste their money on a salon that doesn't care whether or not their clients are happy, doesn't care if a client pays hundreds of dollars to have you come in immediately to make it right when clearly nothing you asked for was received, and don't bother contacting clients back either because that would just be TOO much trouble for the owners or stylist to do. Look, I had to waste another 2 hours going to another salon to have them do what I asked Faust Salon to do in the first place -- partial highlight. Thank God this salon wasn't a fradulent scam of a salon like I feel Faust Salon is. read more

I was in town for a mini vacation and my husband suggested I get my hair cut. Called several people and they said no. Had to go to target and walked into the mall and there was this salon. Went in and she said no, but another stylist had just left and she would call him. I was sooo glad she did. Scott was fun, attentive, quick and gave me the exact hair cut I wanted! I love it. I had a terrible experience at this salon, but it was handled very well. I went in for a trim yesterday and the person who worked with me did a really bad job - he completely destroyed my hairstyle and left me with very few options. When I raised concern, I was offered a refund and was told someone else would help with my hair. Amanda did the best she could to fix my hair. She gave me something I can work with and really listened to my concerns. She was also very polite and understanding. I received a full refund as well. Turned up for my appointment and after waiting around unattended was eventually told my stylist was sick.  Had someone bothered to call me I could have saved myself the drive over the hill.  When I did return for a cut and color one of the owners began berating my stylist in front of me about how runny the color was (this is not the first time either).  If you have a problem with your staff, please take them quietly out the back away from the client's earshot.  It's more professional and doesn't make me wonder if the stylist knows what they are doing. My stylist seemed unusually distracted and uncommunicative and barely said a word to me for 4 hours.  My attempts to lighten the mood and engage in conversation fell flat.  Even worse the stylist cut my bangs even though I had mentioned I was growing them out and didn't want them cut.  They were down to my chin and are now don't even touch the tip of my nose.  My gown must have slipped because my back felt wet.  I touched my back and my fingers were covered in black dye and I ended up with black hair dye on my top.  I was told off for not sitting back but that no harm was done as I was wearing a black top! No offer was made to help clean me up.   I also had some copper highlights in the back, sides and front of my hair.  All the back of my hair has since broken off, probably because the bleach was left on for so long (3 hours +) as this is where it was applied first?  The bright copper color I wanted ended up being a washed out patchy orange.  I was so pissed off I left with my hair still wet.  When I ran my fingers through my hair when I got home, my fingers were black and sticky.  The dye had not been washed out thoroughly from the back of my head.  I don't see how this could have gone by unnoticed considering my hair was cut after it was colored.   Did I feel pampered and taken care of?  Sadly no. read more

FOLLOW THE ADVICE OF THE PERSON WHO RECOMMENDED YOU RUN ON THIS REVIEW SITE!!! I saw Joanna for a highlight that took over five and half hours to do. I've never had to sit for more than 2 hours for a highlight, haircut and blow dry. I told her my regular stylist (who's shop in the valley which was closed for Covid) uses a high lift tint for highlights and a low lift tint for a little depth of color. Followed by a light toner to even out the color from scalp to ends. Joanna decided to use bleach, then "glazed" the hair that was not in the foils followed by a dark ash colored "toner" on at the end. After she shampooed my hair, she combed or brushed it in the bowl starting from my scalp. Imagine brushing freshly bleached damaged hair from the scalp instead of from the ends working your way back to the scalp. It felt like she was ripping my hair out of my head. When she was finished my hair was DARKER, DULLER & DAMAGED than when I came in. She did a quick hair cut which was the only quick thing she did and charged me $275 I left very unhappy. I didn't say anything b/c I think it's human nature to not want to hurt someone's feelings, but I should have. I should've asked to be refunded for a bad job. read more

So I've been asking around work for awhile about a new salon to try. 3 different customers recommended this place after I asked about their hair, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Walked in this afternoon expecting to make an appt in the future but fortunately for me, Will Posey had a last minute cancellation and had me in his chair right away. He washed, deep conditioned and completely cut 10 years off my overall look and about 25 years off the look of my hair. My hair looks as healthy and virginic as a baby and yet I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not. I highly recommend this talented man and this awesome hair salon. We drove here and there were no customers at all. We asked how long will it take and how much will it be for a perm and the woman at the front said to come back in 10 minutes because the person doing the perm is on break. After 10 minutes we return and the same person said that the person doing perms is on vacation?? How disconnected and unknowing can an employee not be able to distinguish if a person was on vacation or on break? This place is terrible. for those reading this I would say take a look at the reviews it seems that they're all friends of the people who work at this business to write good reviews. After three years, countless appointments, and disappointing haircuts, I finally found Faust in Capitola. More specifically, I found Nina. I went in with another butchered cut, that I had let grow out and had developed triangle hair, and sat in Nina's chair. We talked about my issues (hair! not life ) in the past and she offered a solution. I left with a new stylist and a head full happy hairs. She's easy to talk to and ready to collaborate. I came here with my sister on a whim about a week ago. She was only gonna get her ombré chopped off if there was an opening at the salon. Luckily there was. As soon as we got in, we were greeted with smiles. The gentleman at the desk offered us beverages, then went to grab my sister's stylist. Marissa was absolutely awesome. Since my 16 year-old sister doesn't Yelp, I will tell you that she got a great scalp massage, a deep-conditioning treatment, a beautiful collar-bone grazing haircut, and fantastic conversations. Marissa was super accommodating to me, continued to make sure I was comfortable while she worked her magic on my sister's (then) unruly locks. I should mention, the salon is beautiful. We are originally from L.A. and have been to some nice salons. It's nice to find a higher-end salon closer to our new home. We left the salon that evening very happy, and with some products and a deep-conditioning regiments that would help my sister grow her hair out again. Wouldn't recommend this salon to queer/LGBT folks. Stylist dropped the t-word while cutting my partners hair, and we are trans/queer. Cut was weak anyways with a sub-par fade, won't be going back. $45 for a exhausting experience. read more
