They do not deserve a star the director is unkind, uncaring and rude. I called for over 3 weeks .she finally "allowed" us to surrender our dog after we tried 6 months to rehome her. She yelled at me and my daughter threatened to call the cops and grabbed my door handle. My heart was already broke I need 2 knee replacements and she treated me like an animal abuser. My dog kona is young and energetic and I van nit care for her due to medical reasons. I have never been belittled and talked down to like that in my life after I called them for help. The director should be removed she yelled at my daughter telling her she's a little girl and can't handle the dog. Rudest human and obviously hates her Jon and the animals. I am including a statement from the spca headquarters . She does not follow their statement and I am reporting her to bbb and everyone else I can find.

We just adopted a two month old golden retriever mix puppy from this remarkable shelter. This is the first shelter I've ever been to that literally did not smell of animal urine and feces. The staff was extremely helpful and generous with their advice and time. They allow you to become acquainted with their pets in a viewing room and then in our case we had another dog so we took them to an outside pan where they were able to become acquainted. They had a veterinarian on staff that discussed shots and what is been done with the pet. We completed an application, they checked our history with our veterinarian for our previous and current dog and within one hour we walked out with Charlie, our sweet new dog. We needed a inside small fence and they sold us a used one for $35. I highly recommend this facility.

If your pet gets surrendered here, good luck. My parents wrongfully took my cat Pete in while I was on vacation without me knowing. I'm in the process of moving out of state. I called and asked about Pete as soon as a heard he was taken in. I was TOLD to come in after he had been neutered so that I could collect him. Once I showed up to the facility, I was told the opposite. Even though Pete was MY cat that my parents had no authority to surrender, that means nothing. I put in an application and explained what had happened, even BEGGED. I was denied even the right to see him. How is it that the cat that I am the owner of has "a better home" than the one he was already in? Who I assume to be the director left me a message telling me she cannot "in good faith" return Pete to me and that he would be euthanized if need be. The business practices of this facility are questionable at best. My cat was stolen from me and I was told I can't have him back because of my parents as a grown adult. Pete is being kept from a safe, loving home that he knows. They never bothered to ask any information about his home or how he is treated and cared for. This whole business needs new staff.

My husband and I adopted a 10 month old female cat from them about 2 months ago. When we arrived, the facility was clean and filled with friendly and happy cats and kittens ready for adoption. The staff did an excellent job explaining the different cage cards and personalities of each potential pet so we could select the right cat for us. When we spent time with our kitten, we decided she was "the one" to go home with us! They provided a small bag of science diet cat food, some toys, and a medical record report indicating what treatment she had done (including a recent spay). We were SO pleased with the seamless process and would go back if we decided to adopt again. She's a happy and healthy cat

They have over 300 cats at this clean no-kill facility, and it is set up in a way that makes it easy to quickly see how the cats respond to you. They had such a great selection, as opposed to the shelters we visited in DC, and the staff was incredibly sweet and accommodating. We knew the staff was really working hard to help find us a good match, and showed us good suggestions as we walked around. On the second visit we found a very sweet little girl cat named Colette and surprisingly, we were able to take her home the following day since our application had been approved from the first visit. Moving her into our home was as easy as pie-- we know that she is going to be as happy and sweet as was predicted by the staff of the SPCA. I highly recommend the Fredericksburg SPCA if you are looking for a new pet, or looking for a worthwhile charity to give money or supplies.

Then they are closed Monday's so we called on Tuesday and the cat we adopted is gone!!! I'm so heartbroken that the cat is gone and they won't do anything to resolve the situation. They offered to take the cat we picked up back but let's take in account they wasted our time going to a vet and now we have to go to a vet again and shelter again to get another cat. I had to change my review after this because me and my husband are so upset at the carelessness of the paperwork. We really had our hearts set on that cat. They also said they will pay the vet bill to get a new cat neutered but how is that compensation when we just paid to neuter one of there cats!? We also had to drive back and forth to centerville to pick this cat up. I'm sure some future person will get told to pay to neuter that cat and then they will pocket the money since that's how corrupt this place is.

They do partner with Anicira to spay/neuter the animals if they have not and that was about $100.

I fell in love with a kitten online, but there was already an applicant ahead of me, so I resigned myself to accepting I probably wasn't going to get him. But Pam was so great - she stayed in constant communication with me, and when she hadn't heard back from the other applicant in two days, she emailed me at 10pm to say I had first dibs (which I feel is fair) and that she'd make sure the kitten was at the adoption event for me to come see the next afternoon. So we headed over to Pet Valu in Clifton to meet the kitten and adored him right away. Kristen was so sweet, helpful and genuinely happy to see that one of her kittens had found a new home. She provided us with tons of info and advice, along with a Pet Valu adoption coupon kit. Their vetting process is pretty standard; you fill out an application with details about your living situation, current pets etc. In the final stages, you sign a contract promising not to declaw and that you'll send them proof of having the kitten spayed/neutered. The experience was quite painless (unlike interactions I've had in the past with some larger/more well-known rescue groups), and these women are doing a fantastic job. Definitely check out their kitties if you're looking to adopt!

The missing time for my cat and the one they posted online matches and the very detailed stripes pattern matches. It's questionable that one employee said she from North Carolina, another one said she from West Virginia. I have my cat since she was born, I can recognize this cat from eye contact. Well, if you know your children, you know them by the spirit, right? I sent them many details to JUST take a look, they refused. It's not built to help ppl or animals at all. I will show how my cat look like and how sick she is now in their foster home. I'm deeply saddened and worried about her. She is territorial as a cat does. She has been a happy cat in her own home, wtf they think this is a rescue. Now I have to either kiss their ass or be assertive to fight against this negativity just to get her rescued from these horrible ppl. F that! If they don't practice as ethical as it should be, this is a big big issue! I put the photos of how my cat looked before and how she looks now in their foster homes(one with name caption) I am seriously furious and frustrated about this. If they couldn't give me an explanation why they made it so difficult to meet the cat. I have to say I will use my popularity and influence to the extreme to make things right!!!
